What if they couldn’t get back?
“Minamoto-Senpai,” Yashiro broke the silence, silencing Teru's thoughts before he could spiral any further.
They needed to make a plan. He was panicking, and Yashiro was figuring out a plan. They needed to get their world back, and after eight failed attempts of using the sand clock, they'd grown weary.
“Have you ever had a crush?”
The panicking ceased as Teru turned to Yashiro, eyebrows going up at the laughable irrelevancy of the question during such a disastrous situation.

“To self discovery,” Akane smiled, raising her soda cup.
Teru raised his glass in return, his smile as strong as he could will it to be. Aoi hurried to join the toast, nodding stiffly. It occurred to Teru that he wasn't the only one the toast applied to.
He decided that he would become more than an exoricst, or he would die trying. If he happened to make friends, keep secrets from his brother, and fall for Akane Aoi along the way, that was simply part of the process.

Summary
It was one of those nights. One of those nights when he had to spend hours and hours to exorcize monsters after monsters, ghosts after ghosts, supernaturals after supernaturals. It was like they all chose this one night to go out and try to hurt people, like this warm night colored by the moonlight was the night to terrify the world.
But Teru was here and Teru was strong, so it's okay.
or: Teru is about to break down after spending his whole night killing supernaturals, but Akane suddenly appears.
