Set a couple of years after the events of Silver Flames and CC3 this story assumes that a war against the Asteri has been fought and won (no real spoilers for CC3). Beron remains High Lord of Autumn and Koschei is still trapped at the lake. Meanwhile the Inner Circle’s alliance with Eris still stands, putting Azriel in a very tricky position when he’s caught breaking through the wards into Eris’s private chambers one evening.

Instead, he finds a greenhouse in disrepair, a dead body, and a much more charismatic ship than advertised.
((No OFMD characters were harmed during the making of this fic. tbh this fic is way more pining and romance than it is scifi.))
“I know,” Ed says, quick and, if Stede's not mistaken, a touch defensive. “'Course I know. I'm the smartest thing on this ship. I am this ship. Just curious 'bout your... expert opinion, I guess.”
“Well, Ed, I'm hardly an expert.”
“Aren't you?” Ed says, the slightest bristle to his tone.
“I'm good with plants,” Stede concedes with a little sigh. “We understand one another.”
That, and plants have always appreciated Stede better than any human ever has.

It was one of those little thoughts that popped into Ed's head unprompted every now and then. Like "What if I accidentally stabbed myself cutting this apple?" or "What if that pretty-looking cargo ship's bait in a trap?"

It could happen. What even if Ed turned super easily and was begging for more and more in record time, his body betraying him faster than anyone had thought an alpha could be bitched? What if someone did that to him? Wouldn't that just be, like, the worst?
