Summary
The calm, collected archmage is a far cry from the woman who watched her teacher’s trial with steel-hard vindication in her eyes. Jester says, “You made a greenhouse,” and Essek looks up.
Palms and figs and mangroves and tree ferns reach up for the ceiling, and a sourceless waterfall spills through them. The walkway spirals upward, clinging impossibly to the dangling roots of a banyan tree, and vanishes into the greenery. Everywhere there are flowers — dusky pink orchids and brilliant bromeliads, violet and yellow and red.
Essek takes a shaky breath. “I’ll show you your rooms.”
