Summary
It’s difficult being a single father, but Nick does as best he can at raising his little girl, Kim, in a house on his own. With how much he works, he’s often worried about her feeling lonely- but thankfully loneliness doesn’t seem to be much of a problem for her with how many imaginary friends she seems to have. Nick has overheard her reading stories with her teddy bear, giggling and laughing as she entertains herself with a board game, and playing pirate with the ship in a bottle. Most children probably wouldn’t be found trying to strike up a conversation with something like a vacuum, microwave, or the hangers in their closet- but Nick just figures that his daughter is on the more imaginative side. As long as she’s happy and not getting hurt, what’s the harm? In any case, he loves hearing about the antics that Kim and her imaginary friends get up to. Per your mom's suggestion, you find yourself transfering over to one of Japan's most prestigious Hero Academies for your (Sophmore? Junior??) second year of high school. You'll miss your family and friends, no doubt about that, but you're at least thankful for the chance to get away from all the shit going down back home. You're not running away from your problems, exactly. It's more like you're putting a very respectable amount of distance between yourself and all the things that cause you unnecessary amounts of stress.
Besides, there's just so much Japan has to offer! Like some cool new friends, a gaggle of quirky (haha) classmates, cuisine that's just to DIE for, and plenty of badass Pro Heros for you to simp-- UH, respectfully look up to.
Oh, yeah, plus the literal classroom of your soulmates just a few doors down the hall-- not that you're really aware of that.
Too bad the same can't be said for THEM about YOU.
