Summary
Whumptober 2023 Day 22: Glass Shard/Vehicular Accident/Watch out!
Reigen clucks his tongue, shifting through his tattered wallet, coins jingling and paper crinkling as he does so, trying to keep a somewhat neutral face as the taxi driver glares at him from the mirror. He’s an angry, ugly man, matted beard and beady eyes that raked down Mob and him in a manner that make Reigen cringe as he waved him down, but there isn’t really another option. He was the first taxi they had seen in ages, and the clock was ticking, and Reigen relented only because he was about seventy percent sure he could crush the dude in a fight. Maybe sixty.
Still, he hopes it doesn’t come to that, because even if he managed to coo his way into the car despite the man insisting he was done for the day, he doesn’t know if he has enough to pay him for the ride. A train, a subway, even a strangers car they hitchhiked with would be preferable to this. Reigen wonders if maybe they should have just walked.
Or
Too late to walk home, Reigen and Mob head back to the city in a sketchy taxi. Anxiety peaks when Reigen doesn’t recognize the way back.

Sam always slept in the car, always slept more than him, partly because Dean preferred to drive, partly because Dean didn’t like to sleep while someone else was awake, that guttural, paranoid instinct to protect nestled in his stomach. Sam had been sleeping a long while anyway, passing out nearly moments after Dean started the car and marked their destination for South Dakota.
