From the beginning, Jaskier always knew his love language was a bit… different. His friends would hug or say nice things about each other, his sisters would gift flowers, his father would pat his shoulder with an approving look. In books and stories, there were always grand gestures and fancy words, speeches and longing looks. Words like “I love you” and “I love you, too.”
But the first time Jaskier wants to convey just how much he loves someone, it doesn’t come out with those three easy words. Instead, as little Julian, he claps his hands together and sing-songs about how pretty his momma’s eyes are.

They’d been human together. Almost. And, in her human-ness, Yennefer had seen him. She’d stood beside him, not above, and she’d smiled and laughed and cared for the stupid little bard too small for the adventures of sorceresses and witchers.
She kissed him. For a ridiculous moment, Jaskier imagined that, maybe, she could learn to love him, too.
