Cenred chuckles. “I don’t intend on you getting too close, Merlin. You’re to attend me during public events, that’s all. And they won’t recognise you. They think you’re dead, after all. But if you do anything, and I mean anything, to help them remember... well. Ealdor’s a dangerous place.” Merlin swallows, and he knows Cenred knows he understands.When an Essetirian patrol discovers Merlin’s magic on a visit home, he’s taken for the army – until Cenred discovers who he is and decides that he’d be more use to reveal Camelot’s secrets.
