In the light, Maria was happy with a positive outlook on life [but in the dark, her eyes knew of a hushed secret]. It was not those, though, but the other things that made all feel... 'off': how Maria went mute when G.U.N. did their standard quarterly wellness checks; how his Project felt more a coiled weapon than a sentient being at those times; how Maria spoke of stuff not exposed to yet; how Shadow was lying to everyone - including himself. But... why?

The two homosapiens required nourishment if he was to take them back home with him. It was only fair – they sheltered him from his pupa state. He will spare them. It was how things… worked.----------
