The old lady threw her head back and laughed. “No. She wants you to have this baby. It’s a gift. You’ll grow it, deliver it, and love it. If you don’t, she’ll probably return as a vengeful ghost.”
The old lady laughed again then turned serious. “You have to tell him, you know.”
Wei Ying gulped. “I can’t just show up pregnant and demand he takes responsibility!” Wei Ying wailed.
“Sure you can,” the old woman urged. “It’s all over you, you know. You reek of it.”
“What?” Wei Ying asked.
“His love,” the old lady told him.

He sighs, and it feels like there's a thousand years of exhaustion in it.
