    Her lilting toe falls were so beautiful and so sad. Every feather light touch upon the dark stage sent waves of wonder throughout the audience. But to him, it was just torture. Torture seeing her sweat glistening on her brow and that cold, dead look in her eyes.

    Through the opera glasses he held to his eyes, Armin could see the slight part of her lips as she gracefully threw her arms back in the air. Her red lips were so ethereal and he knew not a word could be passed through them.

    She starts and whirls around, furious at both the interruption and that she allowed herself to be taken unaware. She’s been on edge lately, her warrior crawling under her skin, and she very nearly snarls at whoever dared interrupt her.

    Armin stands behind her, bundled up against the cold, wearing his ridiculous floppy straw hat and holding out a thermos in an offering. “I made some tea. Do you want some?”

    Annie thought she was above it all, that she didn't need a mate, but then a cold day towards the end of the year proved her wrong.
