It’s the way the woman carries herself that has Antonia seeking her out. Her mama wore the same expression once before she was gone. It’s like the woman is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, and Antonia wants to cheer her up, even if it’s not for long.
When the woman starts to ask about her papa, Antonia knows that she should leave and tell him everything but for some reason, she stays.
