    There were so many things that Jedi weren’t supposed to do that Anakin struggled to keep it all in his head, but that one he was certain of. Jedi weren’t supposed to be scared, and they weren’t supposed to get angry, and they weren’t supposed to cry. Master Obi-Wan was never scared and he didn’t get angry with Anakin no matter how much he messed up, and Anakin was sure he’d never cried, even after Master Qui-Gon. Anakin just had to be— better. More like Master Obi-Wan.

    That’s where he wishes he was, now, rather than the belly of the Resolute watching Obi-wan making his way through the sea of the subdued 501st across to him, with a smug-as-all-hell grin on his face. Anakin could punch it right off.

    “I will punch that grin right off your face,” Anakin says. “They will find it in the Kolaador system after weeks of searching the entire Outer Rim.”
