When Dazai Osamu first appeared on the agency’s doorstep with an incomplete application and a halfhearted recommendation, Ranpo’s first impression was ‘kill it with fire.’
His second thought was ‘it can’t join the agency.’ Much like a stray cat, Ranpo could see in the thing’s desperate, starved eyes that if it were given a scrap of affection, it would curl up in the nearest sunny spot and never leave. He didn’t need his (an) ability to see that.

Overall, Chuuya's junior year in high school started off not as he hoped. Now he just needs to fucking finish it. Plus dealing with some heavy traumatic baggage? Why not add a cute but annoying brown-haired boy in there too? Oh, and don't forget the talking plushies! All very important.

Summary
Dazai walks into the ADA to find a desperate and distressed Chuuya looking for him, haunted by Arahabaki and having been unable to sleep for a long time.
This brings out an old and familiar side of Dazai from their younger years, one that only comes out when he is not being perceived by Chuuya.
He brings Chuuya to his dorm and takes care of him.
