Summary
Momo Suzuki entered Ouran High School as a scholarship student at the same time as Haruhi. Momo comes from America, though, in contrast with Haruhi. Her family is Japanese but lives in America. She was born there and spent most of her life there in a small city. She and Haruhi bonded over their disdain for the rich students who do not seem to know how lucky they are. She spends a lot of her time indulging in manga and anime. She may not be wealthy, but she is happy. She may not be rich, but she is lucky. In the process of helping out Haruhi with their dancing skills, she becomes a defacto member of the Host Club, getting roped into all of the misadventures of the spoiled rich people she can’t stand.
Hikaru Hitachiin is a spoiled, rich, ungrateful boy. But he’s in love with Haruhi. When Momo stumbles into the Host Club looking for Haruhi, Hikaru sees it as a chance to get closer to Haruhi by being friends with her strange, poor, American friend.
