Ichigo had gotten his powers back, but things never quite went back to normal. Even if it had stopped raining in his inner world, the flood still remained. So when opportunity came knocking at his door, he welcomed the distraction.
When Heaven - another world's equivalent of the Soul Society - was looking for a new War God to replace Prince Nataku, they found Ichigo, whose unique origins just so happened to fulfill their strict requirements. Unfortunately for them, Ichigo may end up giving them a bit more trouble than they bargained for.
