He felt her pain in ways that made the cores of his bones ache, but by the end of it, she glowed. She beamed and laughed and cried happy tears that made her shine. Harry squalled and squirmed as she held him close to her chest, crying and sobbing and falling heavily against James, and the weight of both halves of his heart leaning against him made him feel like he was finally complete.
Like falling in love all over again.
In the first few weeks after Harry's birth, James tries to recover from the trauma of the delivery. To help him are moments of domestic bliss, happily married life, and mad, chaotic friends who will spoil the hell out of his beloved son.

Equal parts of her feel dread and electric anticipation. Oh god, he’s going to reveal his crush, like he’s done any sort of job hiding it all these years. “No, James, I know what you’re gonna say.”
“I don’t think you do.”Or, Superman represents hope. Lily Evans could use a little of that, as political tensions boil over, as readers of the Daily Prophet get increasingly antagonistic, but she doesn’t expect to find it so vehemently in her coworker, James.

“Too soon,” she chides, but when he steps into her space, cups her jaw and leans in for a kiss, she lets him. So, he carries on, pressing slow, lingering kisses to the corner of her mouth.
“I can take it easy.”
Lily’s scoff is sharp, the most normal sound she’s given him all day. “You’ve never taken it easy a day in your life, James Potter, don’t lie to me.”
“Got me there, Evans,” he chuckles, pressing another kiss to her chin, grinning when she’s quick to give him her “née Evans” rebuttal. Usually it's smug; today it's reverent, breathy enough to spur him on.
