“Wh… what did you do to me?” he mumbled, swallowing thickly as he struggled to lift his head.
The woman looked down at him with pity, as if this was hurting her too. As if she regretted him too.
“A lesson,” she said, voice lowly and soft. Slowly, she knelt in front of him, her slender hand curling around his chin and lifting it up. “You know so little of the world, young one, and yet you let hurt and misunderstandings burn you with such terrifying vitriol. Let this curse be your teacher; should the day you find forgiveness and understanding in your heart again and you rectify what you have broken with your own hands be the day you are allowed back into society. Until then, your monstrous actions will carve a new vessel for you to wander through the wilderness with.”

“She doesn’t know,” Diluc admitted. “I haven’t told her.”
“Then what’s bothering you? I haven’t seen you this riled… ever.” Kaeya raised the bottle to his lips.
“She’s expecting.” Diluc dodged the fine mist of alcohol that came pouring out of Kaeya’s mouth. He scowled and backed away. “Disgusting. Did you have to spray it everywhere? You are cleaning that.”
“Come again? I think I might have something in my ear. You said that the Honorary Knight is expecting what?” Kaeya put his finger in his ear and twisted it.
“My kid.” Diluc felt a sort of soft thrill come over him at those words.
“Right.” Kaeya took another long drink from the bottle. He set it down with a thud. “What’s the issue exactly?”
Diluc groaned in exasperation. “I told you already. We have an arrangement. No feelings. I love her. She doesn’t love me. She is going to have the next heir. I don’t know what to do.”
“I find it simple.” Kaeya leaned back in his seat. “Woo her.”
