Summary
The Cardinal walked around the room, whistling to himself as he tidied things up, straightened the blankets, and attended to the rats in the living room.
Terzo hated him.
—
What may have been weeks or months ago, Papa Emeritus III was kidnapped by Cardinal Copia who forced him into a cage to be his new pet rat. Despite Terzo’s resistance, the Cardinal seemed to want nothing more than to care for and spoil him the way he did with all of his rats.
If only Terzo would embrace his true self, he could be shown a love he has never had the chance to experience.

Summary
"You seem to be taking this as though he won’t speak to you, but you’re not special, sweetheart. He’s like that with everyone, including me.”
He could hear the hurt in his mother’s voice, and he wasn’t sure how to feel about it. On the one hand, he felt bad for her that her own son would not speak to her.
On the other hand, she had abandoned him first.
“Well, at least I’ll get some peace and quiet around here,” he grumbled to himself.

Summary
During what should have been an ordinary evening, a baby boy was stolen from his home, leaving his mother with only half of her heart. Unable to cope with the loss, she made the decision to remove the other half as well.
The twin brothers lived entirely separate lives until, at the end of her life, their mother found the stolen piece of her heart and brought her boys together again, the way they were always meant to be. They quickly found comfort in each other in a way neither had experienced before, and it was easy to forget that there had ever been anyone who wanted to do them harm.
But when the sun went down each night and the brothers were forced to part, they were reminded that evil would always exist in the world, and no amount of love could change that.
After all, if love mattered, they would never have lost each other to begin with.

Summary
Perpetua hadn’t done anything wrong. They had done something wrong together, but neither of them knew, and Perpetua was no more at fault than Copia.
”I’m sorry,” Perpetua whispered, and Copia had to resist the urge to gently shush him and kiss his head. He couldn’t. Not… not right now.
“You have nothing to apologize for,” Copia told him firmly. “I freaked out over… over something someone said. I shouldn’t have taken it out on you. I’m sorry, Pet.”
