“Hey, Buck,” Bucky quickly turns, heart pounding in his chest at the sight of Steve. He’s in his usual suit, albeit a flimsier version of it. He looks good. He always looks good.
He smiles, tucking a lock of hair behind his ear. “Hey. You look…” his words die in his throat. Steve laughs, looking down at himself.
“I must look silly, huh? Didn’t have a clue what to dress up as so, might as well do what I know best.” he chuckles.
Bucky laughs with him, shaking his head. His scent is so distinctly alpha, all sandalwood and mid-summer, like the beach or the edge of a clearing, where the forest meets the sea.
Steve looks like he’s racking his brain, gears turning within before speaking, “Casey Becker, right? Scream?”
Oh, and Bucky wants to melt right there and then.

Bucky doesn’t know why he does that. He doesn’t know why he always feels the impulse to make that correction—‘our baby’—because he knows it isn’t to remind Steve. Steve knows. Steve likes it very, very much.
Bucky thinks he does it to remind himself that he can be good. He has killed sixty-eight men, fourteen women, and one child. He remembers doing it. He remembers all of them.
But Steve is good. Steve is good, and Bucky is carrying Steve’s child.
That means that maybe a part of Bucky is good, too.

“It’s a treaty of universal and perpetual peace, of course.” She said, as if that were plainly obvious to everyone here but Steve. Some stigmas, such as Lycans being equated to slobbering, mangy, stupid dogs, were hard for vampires to shake, he supposed. But still, it rankled to have to hear that prejudice come through in her tone. “Alex believes that enough blood has been spilled on his account, and offers you, as Supreme Alpha, a vampiric mate to unite our species once and for all.”
Steve blinked, dumbfounded by what he’d just heard.
“You’ve got to be joking. He’s giving me a fucking war bride?! ”
“No.” Natasha pointedly corrected. “He’s offering you a mate , Steven. Surely, you must know how detrimental it is to go for so long without one.”
