Merlin winces as the wood creaks under his pry bar. He strains his ears, but only the sounds of nature echo back to him. Slowly he lifts himself up through the window. His foot slips on the way down and he falls to the ground with a dull thump.
Pain radiates from his ankle. Merlin grits his teeth, pulling a bandage from his backpack and wrapping it around his ankle. The pain settles to a dull throb and that’s when Merlin hears it.
A clicking noise.
