If Gale Dekarios was being honest with himself -- and, in this particular moment, he was -- this was not what his friends had meant when they had encouraged him to get out there and into the dating scene. Wyll had told him to sign up for Bumble, which was perfectly sweet and perfectly Wyll, while Shadowheart had wanted him to get right on Tinder. He had downloaded both of those apps, but had frozen at the profile creation stage. What was he supposed to put there? He was a professor in a fairly niche field with only modest acclaim; he had recently separated from his partner of over a decade; and he had a larger appearance with a soft stomach, although Karlach had eagerly told him that there were many people out there who would be into that. All things considered, he was far from a catch. Why would anyone on these apps want to get into a relationship with him? He had precious little to offer.
This, of course, had led him on a path towards the particular establishment he was at this night.
