Summary
Wilbur Cross was a faithful servant to the Lords in Black, but he was human. The Black and White destroys the minds of all humans eventually. But what if they could create a human servant with the ability to withstand the impossibilities of the realm?
Or: the neuroplasticity of a child can withstand the Black and White in ways an adult brain cannot- if raised in the Black and White, a child could be a servant to the Lords in Black forever if made immortal, with no worries about neurologic issues. All they need is a child with a connection to the Black and White.
