Everyone has a mental list of people who they look at and think, “Yeah, I’d hit that, given an opportunity and a good excuse.” Jack’s is pretty long, because he’s a man with broad taste and an open mind. But he has to admit that pretty much since he’s known her, Beckett Mariner has topped that list. If he got dosed with sex pollen, she’s the first person he’d want to be trapped with (not that he’d want to be limited just to one person, in that kind of circumstance, but she would be number one). If he was in some kind of fake-marriage-that-must-be-consummated situation on a planet, he’d fake-marry her. If he had to huddle for warmth with someone, he’d huddle with her. He’d huddle so hard.

An academy AU + Tarsus aftermath fic in which James T. Kirk ends up accidentally parentally bonded to an orphaned Vulcan child. When the father/daughter duo enroll in Star Fleet, hijinks ensue (mostly at the expense of Spock’s previously immaculate but quickly deteriorating self-control).
