Finally, Effie pulled out the one card from the
glass bowl. “Katniss Everdeen,” She read out. I walk up slowly, almost the same that Prim did when her name was called. It was so silent that my footsteps on the pebble road were being picked up by the microphones. Tears were streaming down my face, and I tried to hold in many sobs. I failed miserably, one escaping my mouth every few seconds or so. When I got to the stage, my eyes were red and tears were drying on my cheeks. Effie’s hand went to the boys’ bowl next. Effie turned to face me to try and give me some sort of comfort, but all she could make out was a smile.It’s the Seventy-Fifth Hunger Games, and Katniss and Peeta are reaped. Though this time, Katniss is twelve years old when she first wins, and Peeta acts like her knight in shining armor instead of the “Star-crossed lovers” angle. Follow Katniss and Peeta through their journey in the Seventy-Fifth Annual Hunger Games, and have some flashbacks from Katniss’s POV too.

I don’t return the next day. Or the day after that. On the fourth day Haymitch, finding me behind a steam pipe, confronts me.
“When are you going to see him?” he says.
“I don’t know if I can… he hates me,” I say, muffled, my mouth pressed to my knees. “That’s not… Peeta anymore.” My voice sounds small and pitiful.
“He’s… confused and angry,” he says. “He doesn’t hate you, not really. He can’t tell the difference between what’s real and the memories the Capitol implanted.”
“He does hate me,” I say, stubbornly. “Snow did this to him to hurt me. He wasn’t a rebel, if it weren’t for me… ”
Haymitch sighs. “It doesn’t matter why Snow did it. This isn’t about you. The boy’s having trouble telling up from down, you can’t tell him you’ll be back, and then not come. It’s cruel.”
