    Stephanie did not move—just stared, waiting. The woman's face was clearer, now, captured in a gap of leaves. It wasn’t familiar, but there was something in Stephanie that thrummed with a knowledge. Of eyes that should have been kinder, should have been younger, should have been sharper, should have been a lighter shade of blue.

    The woman hummed. “Very well. May I know your name? I am afraid we do not get many visitors here, and my hospitality has suffered for it. Would you share with me what to call you?”

    “Stephanie,” she said after a long moment, like an offering.

    Wrong, wrong, wrong. You are not where you once were. You are not who you once were.

    The woman smiled, extending a careful, steady hand and gently correcting Stephanie’s grip to clasp her forearm. They were almost of an eye, like this. “Well met, Stephanie. I am Hippolyta of Themyscira. Welcome.”
