Summary
On Labor Day weekend in 2017, a reckless boating accident leaves thirteen-year-old Luke Hughes fighting for his life after his leg is shredded by a propeller. Though doctors save him, the injury ends his dream of ever competing in the NHL.
After nearly a year of grueling rehab, Luke feels isolated as his brothers prepare to usher in a new era of American hockey. Unable to bear living in the world of draft boards and rink talk, he moves in with his grandfather Marty in the New York suburbs. Marty, a retired FDNY battalion chief, offers stability, and points Luke towards another dream that only the bravest can answer.
After graduating from the fire academy, he’s assigned to Station 43 in Midtown Manhattan, where he forms a new kind of brotherhood with Mark and Ethan, the dynamic paramedics; Dylan and Rutger, who handle fire suppression; and Seamus, Luke's partner for rescues and extraction.
But with Jack just across the Hudson River, blood truly is thicker than water, and Luke must now fight a different kind of fire from that the Devil himself cannot put out.

They got close, Connor was the only non-hockey friend Luke had. They traded weekends at each other’s apartment watching movies, attended parties together, got fake IDs together. There was even one time where they ditched class on fall afternoon and drove to Cedar Point two hours away to ride some rollercoasters. Connor was good, safe from all the bullshit of the pressure and weight that bore down on him. He's best person Luke could have asked for at Michigan.

Eyes wide, he stared at the nine figures—that had caused all the noise—all staring back at him. Nine figures that should not be here. “What the fuck?” He jumped back and off his chair, causing it to topple over and hit the floor in the process. Adrenaline coursed through the driver's body as not really panic nor fear, but complete confusion washed over him. “What the fuck.” He said again with a louder voice.

Or that one time travel fic where nine Formula 1 drivers from 2012 end up in 2021 after the Monaco Grand Prix. Plus, I just needed some Brocedes and Michael Schumacher content with angst and reconciliation. And maybe a bit more surprises to come.
I love time travel fics, but this fandom doesn't have many of them. This story is inspired by We Meet Again by lucsf1 as I got tired of waiting.
