Minutes or hours later, he leans back on his chair, gaze appraising. It’s not bad, objectively speaking, even if he’s not completely sure what it’s supposed to be. It’s just a rough sketch, but — it’s like Yatora does when it comes to people. When he doesn’t know what someone is thinking, he colors them. He bleeds inside the line.
Art is made by people, for people. It doesn’t all have to be all-encompassing and entirely different to what he’s always known. A language without words is still a language, and language, above all things, is human.
He looks at the lines on paper. At the smearing of graphite on his knuckles. Out the window, the day has long fallen into night.

This is a true blue masterpiece, a character study, a deep-dive into our Geidai student protagonist.
Blue is lonely. Blue is the color of the ocean. This is what "Blue Period" means.
Most likely, the best written Yatora POV in this fandom. Wish I could give as many blue paintstrokes as I could!

One of the very best pre-ascenscion divergence TGCF fic. Xie Lian sacrifices himself to save some poor schmuck from becoming the evil Ghost King's prisoner/slave/toy, and meets Hua Cheng, who is rolling out the red carpet and everything out for his beloved Dianxia. Their relationship builds from there; in the mean time, Generals Feng Xin and Xuan Zhen are scrambling to save their former prince and master from the evil Crimson Rain Sought Flower.

When was the last time they had to resort to the lottery sticks to decided who would die? It had been months, no years now. No one needed to explain the rules. They all knew the game by now. The person with the red tipped stick would be the one who would be sacrificed. He would venture alone into the death trap, taking the fall so the rest of the men could live another day.
