Part of Cressida wanted to ruin Penelope’s dress. Here was Penelope, fellow third year debutante, who found it in her to harness inner reserves to reflect such beauty when it mattered most. Even the Queen herself leaned over the railing to watch her, before losing interest as she often did. Cressida had never once garnered such attention, had never been a diamond in earnest. Cressida could certainly stand out in a crowd, but it was often for the wrong reasons.
She was tired of being the wrong reason.
