“I could help.”
Eddie blinks at him. In some distant, faraway corner of his mind, Richie’s sure he can hear screaming.
“I mean-” Richie starts, his mouth fully just running away with the thing. “I mean, I could help you. With the-” and now his hands are getting in on the action too, the traitors, gesturing vaguely—obscenely—in the direction of Eddie’s crotch.
Eddie stares at him.
“You- what?”
“I can help you get off,” Richie’s mouth says, slow and clear and a little too loud. “If- if that’s something you’d want.”
(Eddie leaves Derry the second time with another cast on his arm. Richie lends a hand.)

The stranger, still fuming, lowers his doe eyes and gives Richie a once over that he can feel right down to the base of his spine. “Well, is it fucking working?” he says in the end.When Richie and Eddie get papped arguing in public about a bad parking job, the media spins the story to make Richie seem like an homophobic asshole. There's one obvious way to clear Richie's name: pretend the two had been dating all along.
