His voice breaks off like a snapping branch.
The ending of his sentence is obvious.
All Pai can manage out is a quivering, “Okay.”
It’s not enough. Not nearly enough. And Pai feels frustration building in his stomach because he knows it's going to take so much more to forgive Tim.
But then Tim lifts his hand, brings his knuckles to his lips, and kisses it. It’s quick, there and gone, but it quiets the monsters in Pai’s mind for a little while.
Maybe it’s enough for right now.

The number one rule they had in their line of business is to never fall in love, but damn was he a fucking hypocrite. He fell in love with Pai quickly and who wouldn't I mean he was absolutely gorgeous, rich, kind, sassy, and good in bed, everything a person would want.
