Brennan's been hiding something that formerly would have been something she'd have readily shared with Booth - something life-changing and difficult she should never have had to deal with alone. But their relationship doesn't allow for the closeness needed. Not anymore. And neither of them are in a place where they seem to be capable of not hurting the other. Perhaps the relationship isn't salvageable at all.
