Summary
What she hadn’t expected to find was Rumi talking to Jinu–lead singer of the Saja Boys and, even worse, a demon. The sight caught her off guard, especially as it wasn’t anger or sharpness in Rumi’s voice, but raw vulnerability.
The conversation itself faded from Mira’s memory as she was engulfed by a red-hot cloud of anger and confusion. She didn’t understand what she was seeing, and it took everything in her not to interrupt whatever moment they were having. How could Rumi betray them like this? How could she trust the very thing they were trained to kill on sight?

She knew it was still hard for her to be vulnerable sometimes. And so Zoey had become much more tuned in to Rumi’s mannerisms, the subtle inflections that gave her away when she was trying to reach out but couldn’t quite push past the overwhelming compulsion to hide.

Rumi comes across takedown while listening through demos to use for their comeback album, and isn't quite as ready to hear it as she thought she was. Zoey doesn't let her face it alone. Neither does Mira.
