Summary
Jason wasn’t scared of many things in life—he didn’t have any reason to be. He slept with a gun under his pillow, resided in a Manor with approximately four different, very sophisticated alarm systems, and each and every one of his family members spent their nights gallivanting around the city and fighting crime.
There were only three things Jason was still scared of, one of which was unspeakable, even on his best days. But the other two?
1. When Bruce called him into his study, claiming that he wanted to “talk”;
2. When Maverick, his (future) sister-in-law, knocked on his bedroom door and said, “I have an idea”.Or, alternatively: This study evaluates how an initial objective (“secure one canine specimen for celebratory gifting”) escalated into the liberation of 32 illegally detained subjects via collaboration with vigilante co-investigator (Todd, J.). Findings underscore the inevitability of mission creep when pairing high-risk environments with emotionally motivated objectives and one (1) highly reluctant co-investigator. Additional analysis suggests “never again” declarations from Todd, J. are unlikely to prevent future involvement in similar escalations.

Miyuki doesn’t do this. He doesn’t do hookups in dark, dusty storage rooms. He doesn’t do hookups, he doesn’t do relationships, he doesn’t do any of this. And for good reason, too.
He can’t afford it.

She wishes she could say she hadn’t thought about him in the past five years; she wishes she could say those fleeting four days were nothing more than that, fleeting; she wishes she could say he had never crossed her mind, not once.
But she can’t. She’d be lying. Because the truth is, she hasn’t stopped thinking about him since he left.
She searches for him unconsciously, hoping he’ll eventually show up when she least expects it. For five years, he never does.

Sawamura turns back to Kazuya, a steely, determined look in his eyes as he resolutely proclaims to him, “You have to come with me to Nagano! It's settled!”
He sighs.
“Did I miss the part where I agreed to this?”
“You don't need to agree! It's already decided,” Sawamura insists confidently, pointing an accusing finger. “And it’s not like you have anything going for you, Mr. Hermit!”
Unpredictable as ever, Sawamura has a way of pulling people along in his wake, dragging them into his whirlwind of energy and enthusiasm before they can think to resist. He had followed Kazuya both to Seidou and to the pros – it was only natural that, eventually, Kazuya would be the one following him.
In which Kazuya’s carefully guarded feelings begin to unravel the moment he follows Sawamura home to Nagano for the summer.
