Summary

Zack’s had enough of Cloud disappearing for days without a word.

Cloud’s about to retort, but Zack cuts him off. “Look, maybe you’re right to be protective or whatever, but here’s the deal: I really like her. So how about this—why don’t we both see who she chooses? Winner takes all.”
Cloud hesitates, but before he can reply, Aerith calls out, waving them over with a warm smile. The sight of her leaning over the counter, laughing with the vendor, makes something twist uncomfortably in his chest. He can’t let Zack have her. Zack nudges him, eyebrows raised. “Well? What’s it gonna be?”
Grudgingly, Cloud mutters, “Fine.”
Cloud Strife has his sights set on Aerith, but things take a turn when Zack Fair, Midgar's star football player, starts competing for her attention as well. Cloud is determined to show that Zack isn’t worthy of Aerith, but Zack refuses to back down without a fight.
What begins as a rivalry forces them to spend more time together than with Aerith, and before they know it, unexpected feelings begin to develop between them.

“There’s one last song,” Cloud said softly into the microphone, almost as if it were just for Zack. “One I’ve been working on for a while. I wrote this for…” His gaze sharpened as he looked directly at Zack again, making it feel like the world around them had faded away. “Someone I love.”
Cloud Strife’s a big name singer with an even bigger problem—he’s burnt out, his anxiety’s eating him alive, and he’s not sure how much longer he can keep going. One night, he smashes his guitar in frustration.
Then there’s Zack Fair, a guy who once dreamed of being a singer too but never quite made it. Now, he pours all that passion into making guitars. When their paths cross by chance, Zack wants nothing more than to make something special for Cloud.
