    “Cap? Coke? Your man there looks a little shocky, sugar’d do him good.”
    Yes. Steve thinks. Sugar. Must go get Bucky a Coke. He walks to the other wall on rubbery legs, digs out two cans. Walks back. Bucky’s eyes are closed, head bent back at an odd angle. He looks like someone snapped him in half. Steve. Steve did.

    They have never kissed like this. And Steve remembers every kiss: the secret stolen ones; the rushed and laughing ones; the crying, biting ones. He has both hands in Bucky’s hair now, pulling him in, trying to softly steer him. But Bucky is unwieldy.

    “Let’s practice,” she murmurs.
    A blink. A silence. He’s drifting.
    She helps him along: “ask me for something you want,”
    Another blink, different blues swirling together as he wants, then shies away from asking, tries to power through and find the words. It’s delicious. She wants to roll in it, rub it into her skin until she too is sweet.
