Summary
The brighter your feathers and the more subtle your scent is on Earth, the more asthetically pleasing you are in society. Dib's not lucky in either category. Taking after his scientist father in looks and smell, dark grey and black feathers that look like a dusty Raven's and smelling like a god damn tangerine orchard. Slap the fact that Dib's a rare male Omega on a planet that sees the secondary gender as little more than baby makers on top of the growing list and Dib's planning to leave for outer space whether there's life out there or not.
The less reflective your wings are and the more odious your scent in the Irken Empire, the more appealing you are to receive a growth spurt and rise in rank. Zim has none of these qualities. His wings are clear but reflect much more light than would ever be desired, and his scent is a very subtle peppermint. He's yet to have received a growth spurt from the time he was hatched, he's lucky enough to have made it into the ranks of invader. As a short Alpha he's had enough with his own people and he's just itching to get to an isolated planet far away from the annoyances of his fellow Irkens.
