Chapter Text
Kimi Akaguro resisted the urge to tug on her hair or fidget more than tapping her fingers. Getting woken in the middle of the night because your father – and only family – has been arrested by the Mustafa police and then being taken to the station is not what Kimi called fun. Particularly when no one would just cut to the chase and either question her or tell her what the hell is going. Preferably, the latter. Well, it could be getting scolded for showing up to a bunch of villain attacks and helping out. Ugh.
Kimi’s fingers still as the door to the interrogation swings open to show an officer. Kimi blinks, a person, not the strangest thing she has seen. Damn it, I’m too tired for this shit.
“I’m Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi,” the officer introduced himself. Kimi raised her eyebrows.
“Why am I here?”
Tsukauchi chuckled. “Straight to the point then?”
Kimi stifled a yawn and blinked back into focus. “It’s the middle of the night. So yeah, straight to the damn point.”
Tsukauchi nodded understandingly. “Well, Miss Akaguro, the villain Stain was taken in tonight in Hosu.”
Ah.
“He prefers to be called a vigilante, not a villain,” Kimi commented blandly, yawning. Tsukauchi raised an eyebrow at her, Kimi shrugged.
“What? I’m here because I’m his daughter, am I not? I hardly see a point of avoiding the truth. Stain AKA Chizome Akaguro AKA my father was caught. It was bound to happen eventually. Did he kill anyone or permanently hurt them again? I tried to warn them after Ingenium happened.” Kimi frowned. Ingenium had been permanently hurt without a chance of recovery according to the news stories.
While Kimi was looking at the table, Tsukauchi glanced towards the one-way window with raised eyebrows.
“Could you answer my questions then?” Tsukauchi asked, focusing back onto the young girl.
“Just make them quick please, I do have school and shit tomorrow,” she replied, slumping forward.
----
Naomasa Tsukauchi studied the young girl they had brought in. The daughter of Stain. She wasn’t much older than 15 and was passed out on the interrogation table. She told the truth the whole time, not once lying. Which was surprising considering it was her father who was getting taken to prison and she could be seen as an accomplice as Akaguro had known about her father’s activities.
“What do you think of her?” the blonde asked, for once while being at the station he wasn’t in his hero form, but rather his skeletal one. Naomasa glanced towards his friend, Toshinori Yagi, and shrugged. Toshinori and Naomasa went way back.
“I don’t know what to think of her. She answered all of the questions and didn’t resist when we came banging on the apartment door. She seemed to be expecting this to happen.” Naomasa ran a hand through his short black hair.
“She is something else,” a voice piped up behind them. Naomasa glanced towards the principal of UA High, Nedzu. The mouse was smiling softly with his eyes twinkling with something Naomasa couldn’t name.
“What is going to happen to her?” Toshinori asked.
“Probably will end up in the system and age out. She has no relatives to take her.” Naomasa didn’t like the idea, neither did Toshinori from his expression. With her background, that was going to be a crap place for her.
“Or she could come stay at UA?” Nedzu offered. The duo looked at the mouse with surprise and shock flitting across their faces.
“How would that work?” Naomasa asked.
“She could live with me or another one of the teachers and continue her education. I think she’d make a good hero.” Nedzu studied Kimi with a smile. “She’d be a nice addition to Class 1-A, don’t you think?”
Naomasa never thought Nedzu was scary, until he remembered how smart he was and his way of planning things. Though, it was better for her to go to UA then to an orphanage.

Chapter Text
Kimi was lying on her bed in her shared dorms as she studied about the history of Vigilante Laws.
“Onii-chan!!” her best friend, Tanako Fumiyo, screamed in her ear. Kimi rolled away, immediately hiding her face in her arms as Fumi-chan laughed at her.
“Tana-chan, stop calling me that! I’m not your big sister!” Kimi cried, embarrassment creeped up on her.
“Pffft, whatever. I can’t believe that I’m actually going to be a part of an internship! How come you didn’t one?” Fumi-chan asked, completely ignoring Kimi’s look.
“I don’t have time to catch-up on my studies while doubling up with hero internships. The Principal is so close to expelling me if I don’t keep my grades up, she’s super suspicious about not meeting my dad,” Kimi replied, looking away from her best friend.
“Why is she such a hard ass on you for? You’re like the best of the class and you can’t take any time off for your internship? It makes no sense!”
“Fumi-chan, please don’t bring it up with her.”
Fumi-chan pursed her lips and huffed. “Only because you asked.” Catching sight of Kimi’s studies, Fumiyo veered towards a new subject. “What you studying, Onii-chan?”
Kimi winced even as she sighed in relief, nothing she said would deter Fumi-chan’s ideas or change her mind on calling her ‘Onii-chan’. Ever since Fumiyo had caught her using her quirk to trip up a villain long enough for the heroes to catch them and saved Fumiyo, the girl refused to change her mind on Kimi’s new nickname – much to Kimi’s chagrin.
“History of quirk laws. That’s the one I’m having the most trouble in right now.”
“You got this, Onii-chan!” Fumi-chan cheered, grinning brightly.
By the time Kimi woke up due to her neck aching a lot, Tsukauchi and Nedzu had found all of the paperwork necessary for the guardianship to become one of the UA staff’s and the transfer papers to get her into UA. Rolling her shoulders, Kimi yawned and stretched her muscles.
“Damn, falling asleep on a table was a seriously bad idea,” Kimi mumbled under her breath. Blinking, Kimi surveyed the room she was in. Straightening up, Kimi’s eyes narrowed as she drug her eyes over everything in the room. Where was she? It certainly wasn’t the dorms. The door swung open to show a plain looking man, again.
Oh.
Right.
That’s where I am.
“Sleep well?” Detective Tsukauchi asked. Kimi gave a half-hearted shrug, yawning again.
“As well as you possibly can slumped over on a table, I suppose.”
Tsukauchi nodded understandingly. “I have someone here who wants to talk with you.”
“Oh?” Kimi raised an eyebrow. Who could be this?
Tsukauchi stepped to the side to reveal a – Is that a mouse, but bigger? – Kimi studied the creature for a few minutes longer before it clicked. It’s Nedzu. UA’s very own principal. Well, okay then.
“Hello, Miss Akaguro,” the mouse greeted, smiling happily. The hair on the back of her neck stood up, the animal was unnerving, but more than that, he was using his quirk. Nedzu was calculating something and it set her on edge.
“Hello, Mr. Nedzu?” Kimi’s mind hit a wall. What am I supposed to call him? Nedzu continued to smile, so Kimi supposed the name worked just fine.
“Would you like to come and stay at UA?”
Out of all the things she expected, that wasn’t even close to one of them.
“HAH?!”
Nedzu’s smile didn’t drop for even a moment. “Since there are no relatives to take you in, I have a colleague that will take you in. If you would like that.”
“Wait, what?! You’re saying that I’m going to be a foster child to one of your colleagues?” Kimi stared at him in shock. “Can I get some coffee to wrap my head around this shit? Also, yes, I suppose. I do have nowhere else to go and somehow it’s hard to think of it being any worse than an orphanage or whatever alternative there is to it.”
“That is good to hear,” Nedzu said, smile still in place.
“How about that coffee? I just woke up, I like my caffeine a hell of a lot.” Kimi bit her lip. “I’m transferring to UA then, right? I doubt the principal of the school I’m in now will want me to stay in dorms or continue going to school there.”
----
“What do you mean we’re getting a new kid?!” Present Mic(also known as Hizashi Yamada) asked loudly.
“Uh, he means that Kimi Akaguro is going to…uh…be under the care of the staff or something like that?” All Might(also known as Toshinori Yagi, good friend of Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi) offered.
“That is exactly what I mean, though to be more specific she will be joining Class 1-A and therefore Aizawa can keep an eye on her. Would anyone else like to also keep an eye out for her?” Nedzu said, sipping his tea.
“Who is this girl anyways?!” Midnight(also known as Nemuri Kayama) asked.
“She’s the daughter of Stain! I’ve met her, she quite interesting and beyond blunt. I was thinking of her having an exam to show where she skill level is against All Might and Aizawa.”
The room seemed to be stunned into silence.
“Say what now?” Aizawa asked drily.
“Well, since I’m assigning her to Class 1-A as a special case and All Might already offered to have her stay with him,” Nedzu said, smiling cheerfully.
Aizawa narrowed his eyes at Toshinori. “When did this happen?”
“Yesterday night, if Nedzu hadn’t brought the option of her coming to UA, then she’d probably have ended up in the system,” Toshinori said seriously. “With her background, an orphanage would be an incredibly bad idea.”
“Maybe so, but you offered to take her in. What is that going to entail with you being in your true form most of the time?”
“Well, she’s going to be staying with Yagi Toshinori, All Might’s secretary,” Nedzu cut in. “I hope you’re ready for her, because she’s probably here by now.”
----
Not entirely sure on what to do, Kimi knocked on the door in front of her. Detective Tsukauchi had taken her back to the dorms to pick up her stuff, it didn’t take long since she hardly had much to pack up. Maybe three sets of clothes and books, most of her was filled with books. Her dorm supervisor was practically pushing her out of the dorms. Fumiyo was sobbing the entire way and wanted answers. Kimi hoped she’d be able to follow up on the promise she made to Fumi-chan.
Hearing a faint ‘come in’, Kimi opened the door and stepped through, followed by Tsukauchi.
Being greeted by the sight of a bunch of Pro-Heroes seated around a meeting table could’ve been worse. Kimi was just barely holding herself back from making some jokes in attempts of alleviating the incredibly uncomfortable tension in the room, it was likely to make it so much worse.
“Well, I’m terrible with social cues, but this tension is horribly awkward,” Kimi said, attempting to rip off the bandage.
“This is Kimi Akaguro.”
“Hullo, people.” Kimi drawled with a small wave of her hand.
