A Path That Leads To Nothing

Summary:

✎ ; various! bnha x fem! reader
✎ ; this follows the anime

You transfer to U.A. High School in hopes of having better protection. Someone has been giving you letters for years, praising you on how amazing your quirk is.

In the beginning you thought it was just a sweet secret admirer letter, but that soon changed when they gradually became borderline creepy. You brought the first concerning letter to your father and he wasn’t happy one bit.

The letters after that constantly tried persuading you into joining them one day. Your father was suspicious of this being from a villain..so you had to move from America to Japan.

You constantly transferred schools when a letter written by someone anonymous shows up, slowly you became more desperate for a safe place. That safe place you hoped for would be U.A.

Chapter 1: The Beginning

Chapter Text

the boisterous class in the room could be heard through the door you were right in front of. how long have you been standing there? you couldn’t remember. anxiety had taken control over your body once you entered the building. it’s normal to be nervous..anyone would be nervous when in a new environment...

slowly you outstretch your hand and slide the door open.

“hey teach—“ a raspy voice stops abruptly when hearing the sliding of the door. everyone’s attention goes to the source being you.

“you must be the new student i was informed about. you are rather late as this is the last class of the day,” the teacher comments as you awkwardly stand in front of the entrance after sliding the door closed.

the class immediately regains their volume from before. if you were nervous before, it increased tenfold now.

“a new student?”

“what’s with that mask?”

“what’s your quirk?”

more questions were thrown in your direction and you didn’t make a noise. your ears were actually hurting from how loud they all were. you decided you had enough of just standing there and turned to look at your new teacher expectantly. when will he tell me where i sit?

“may i ask where i’ll be sitting?” you quietly ask him, hiding how impatient you actually were.

”you’ll be sitting behind midoriya.” you nodded slightly and turned back to the class before you, hopelessly trying to find who the teacher so helpfully mentioned.

just as you were about to give up, a green haired boy raised his hand up and waved at you. the seat behind him was empty. you let out a quiet sigh of relief before taking your seat.

suddenly all the talking stopped when a screech of a chair ripped through the air. footsteps soon follow and come to a stop next to you.

you look up from the desk you were staring at absentmindedly for a few seconds to see an ash blonde boy looming over you with a menacing scowl. “what’s your quirk freak?” he questions roughly, vermillion eyes staring daggers into you.

you began to sweat slightly from the tension. you just got here and already someone wants to mess with you? why had god forsaken you? why isn’t the teacher doing anything?? stupid fu..

“you aren’t going to speak? you think you’re better than me don’t you?” his anger only seems to grow with your silence. the ash blonde leans forward, getting uncomfortably close to your face. “why do you even wear that fucking creepy mask? maybe..i should take it off.”

his left hand reaches out for your mask but you quickly snatch his wrist before he could grab it.

the whole class gasps, even the teacher. the boy’s eyes widen in shock for a split second.

he harshly rips his hand out of your grasp and angrily stomps out of the classroom.

the green haired boy that sat in front of you turns his whole body to you. his eyes were full of..admiration? “i-i can’t b-believe you stood up to kacchan..” he stutters out.

”it was nothing..” you mutter quietly, ignoring him and other lingering stares.

soon class ends and you took your time to gather your things until you were the last one in class, that is until you notice a certain green haired boy standing by the door way.

“why are you still here?” you question him as you mount your black backpack on your back.

“well i ju—“ he was interrupted with a hard shove behind his back followed by two more. the ash blonde boy along with some other guys who you assumed were his friends enters the classroom.

he walks towards his desk to retrieve his backpack and slings it over his shoulder. when he looks up he catches you watching him with those unreadable eyes.

“what the fuck are you looking at?” he spits out. that makes you snap out of your staring and turn to leave.

“why aren’t you talking? are you mute?” venom was laced with every word he yelled out at you. his heavy footsteps could be heard as he approaches you. he lays a hand on your shoulder to forcefully turn you around to face him, “come on, speak.”

even though he’s incessantly yelling at you to speak, you don’t give in. you didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of giving into his wants. “k-kacchan stop—“ midoriya manages to speak up although it may have sounded frail.

his whole body was shaking like a leaf in the wind. the ash blonde or kacchan? stops his yelling to direct his attention to the poor green haired boy, “what makes you think i’d listen to a quirkless bastard? do you want to fight me deku? i don’t think you can stand a chance against me.”

kacchan lets go of your shoulder and stalks to midoriya intimidatingly. he shoves the small boy to the ground, hard. you hated violence. you hated seeing midoriya look so vulnerable as he’s being picked on. he reminded you of yourself. vulnerable. scared.

some of the contents in his bag falls out and one of kacchan’s minions found a notebook that caught their eye, “what’s this? a diary?”

“don’t tell me you are taking notes on how to be a hero.“

“that’s so pathetic.”

“he’s delusional.”

“r-real funny guys, just g-give it back!” midoriya pleads, color seeming to drain from his face when kacchan holds the notebook in his hand.

that’s when you had enough of just standing there and doing nothing. you activated your quirk, stopping everything. you take the book from kacchan’s hands, pick up all of the things that fell out of midoriya’s bag to put them back, and carry him out of the room until you are out of the school.

you let out a breath you didn’t even know you were holding all this time and hold deku close knowing he’d be disoriented after you used your quirk. you deactivate it and everything is alive again. the sound of trees and bushes rustling in the wind, car engines vrooming, other civilians talking, etc.

“AH!” the green haired boy screams, surprised that he’s in someone’s arms. when he notices it’s just you he doesn’t panic anymore but flushes a bright red, “w-what?” was all he could stutter out in an embarrassed state.

“i’m sorry i used my quirk on you..i didn’t want you to get hurt..” you let him go after you think he’s stable enough to stand on his own.

he shakes his head quickly and puts his hands up in front of him to reassure you, “n-no it’s fine really! thank you for doing that i-i really appreciate it.” you just give him a dismissive wave of your hand then turn to leave. “well..i’ll be going now..”

“wait- how did you move so quickly?” he asks, desperate to know how you managed to stop kacchan from doing anything else.

“training.”

“what’s your quirk?” he nervously fiddles with the straps of his backpack, afraid that you’ll lash out at him for seeming so nosy.

“time.”

“time? you can control time? wow- that’s so cool!” he takes a pencil and the notebook you saw before out of his bag to write things down on it, “do you control your quirk with your hands? what’s the limit? is there any limit? what are—“

“i can’t answer all of your questions midoriya, maybe tomorrow at lunch?” you turn to him slightly, waiting for his answer. the boy flushes once again, but a lighter shade this time. he stutters out an apology and gives a small nod.

“one more question though..”

“yes?”

“what’s your name?”

Chapter 2: Bittersweet

Notes:

the beginning of the chapter is a time skip to the middle of the school year. i know things are somewhat slow right now but i promise things will be much more interesting in the future. the chapters will be longer as time passes too.

Chapter Text

“are you sure you aren’t hungry? i can close my eyes and you can eat some of my food if you want..i promise i won’t look,” midoriya offers.

you shake your head, rejecting him kindly. he nods reluctantly and continues to eat. you both sat on a bench outside of school during lunch. it became a normal thing for the two of you to make certain places in the school ‘meeting spots.’ most of the classes you had was with midoriya and the only class you had with bakugou was your last class. thank god.

“(y/n)?” you give a small hum as an answer, giving the boy sitting next to you your attention now that you are out of your mind.

“you’ve been really quiet lately..i-i mean you’re usually quiet but not this quiet...” midoriya comments, his bento is packed away now that he’s done eating.

why does he have to be so observant? you thought you were doing well with keeping your act up the whole school day. recently you haven’t been talking as often with midoriya because certain things have been on your mind.

“i’m just tired, sorry if i was worrying you..” you lied. the feeling of guilt slowly started to creep up to the surface and you couldn’t push it down no matter how hard you tried.

he believes your lie and the conversation ends like that. the sound of the school bell rings not a second later to tell you that lunch was over.

-

both midoriya and you exit the school, walking side by side to the school gates. if only things were different..

“midoriya..i can’t walk home with you today. i actually need to make dinner for my dad because he’ll be home soon. sorry..” your chest clenched at the lie that was spewing out of your mouth. it felt tighter when you noticed how his demeanor deflated a little but he still gave you that bright smile.

“it’s okay really! we can always walk together tomorrow.” you wished that were true.

“yeah..well i’ll be going now..” after you said that you wrapped your arms around him and held him close. maybe this was a bit too affectionate for a simple goodbye to him, but you couldn’t help it.

he was surprised at first, just standing there with his arms awkwardly by his sides. once he registers what is happening he hesitantly returns the embrace.

after a few minutes you pull away and turn your back to him to start your walk home.

“bye midoriya..”

you knew if you turned back around you’d want to tell him everything face to face but you couldn’t do that, you knew that.

-

the next day your seat was empty and a certain ash blonde noticed. you would always come to school without missing a single day so he thought it was strange for you to not be there.

“where’s your girlfriend?” bakugou questions the green haired boy who responded with a shaky shrug.

“s-she’s not my girlfriend and i don’t know..maybe she’s si—“

midoriya was interrupted by their teacher entering the classroom and telling everyone to take their seats.

when everyone listened and quieted down he began to speak, “before we start class i’m going to inform you all of one of your fellow classmates, (l/n) (y/n), she has transferred schools due to some personal reasons i will not disclose.”

midoriya couldn’t believe what he was hearing. you transferred..without even telling him beforehand? why? now he understood why you were acting so weird yesterday and gave him that hug..

his eyes glossed over with unshed tears and his hands trembled on his lap. why didn’t you tell him? he couldn’t bring himself to be mad at you but more sad that you didn’t tell him.

“so she finally dropped you, huh? i’m surprised she didn’t sooner,” bakugou quips with a snarky smirk. this only seems to add onto the emotional pain midoriya was feeling and his tears were on the brink of falling.

he inhaled and exhaled slowly, trying to control his emotions.

class ended and midoriya sluggishly starts to pack his things when bakugou and his friends approach him.

“of course she dropped you. i bet once she realized how much of a fucking loser you’re she left,” bakugou spits out. now he’s leaning forward to be face to face with the shaking green haired boy.

“s-stop..” midoriya pleads, the tears he was holding before now coming back.

”what? can’t handle the truth deku? like you can’t face the harsh truth that you can never become a hero?” the ash blonde was spitting every word with venom, not taking a second to pause.

this had done it. midoriya started to cry no matter how hard he tried to hold them back. bakugou looked on with disgust.

“tch. pathetic.” bakugou turns around and walks towards the exit to leave with his friends.

recollecting himself, midoriya leaves the classroom to go to his locker and pick a few books up.

when he unlocks his locker, a folded piece of paper slips out and onto the ground. he crouches down to pick it up and unfolds it. the letter was written by you.

midoriya,

i want to apologize for not telling you this sooner..about my transferring. i’m going to assume you found out when the teacher announced it. if things were different, i wouldn’t have left.

i wanted to tell you face to face about my transferring but i just couldn’t do it. i was too scared of seeing what your reaction would be. i was scared of you being upset with me. i’m sorry for my cowardly actions.

i hope you don’t hate me for this? maybe one day we will cross paths again. hopefully you’ll still remember me. i won’t ever forget you, midoriya.

remember that you’re still my best friend even if we are far apart and that i really do care about you. please don’t let anything stop you from being a hero.

i know you’ll achieve many things in the future. i promise you that. till we meet again ~ ♡

sincerely,

(l/n) (y/n)

drops of tears start to dampen the letter. midoriya holds it to his chest and cries quietly, taking in the bittersweet feeling that was overtaking him.

“i really hope we meet again..”

Chapter Text

the giant building where so many heroes once attended stood before you in all its glory. you made it to u.a. maybe a day late..and just arrived in the afternoon but nonetheless still made it.

of course you’d make it to u.a. why wouldn’t you? your father was the main reason why you were able to attend u.a. you didn’t need to go through the entrance exam and when your father mentioned the whole ‘villain harassing you’ thing, the principal immediately accepted you.

not only were you accepted because of that, you were also accepted because of your outstanding control over your quirk. usually quirks start to show at around the age of four so it was a surprise when your quirk came sooner than the norm. this caused a lot of chaos for your father.

he’s an american hero like all might, he isn’t too big but he’s one of the top ten heroes. he isn’t your real dad though. you don’t know who your real parents are.

all you know is that your father found you outside of the hero agency he attended. he was one of the few that stayed late one night to finish some paper work. when he exited the building, he heard weak cries coming from his right near the shrubbery.

as he approaches, he finds a little baby girl bundled up in blankets inside a box filled with plush cushions to protect the girl’s head. he takes a look at his surroundings to possibly find the person that left the baby there. this never happened before so it was quite surprising for him.

he approaches the baby slowly and hesitantly picks her up from the box. while he picks her up, a small note fell in the box.

the baby cries quietly now as he rubs small circles onto her little back and whisper reassuring words. once the crying had ceased he picks the little note up and reads it.

‘please take care of her’

that was it. no name attached to it or any name they gave for the baby. why would they leave the baby in front of a hero agency instead of giving the baby up for adoption?

little tugs at his hair pulls him out of his train of thought. looking up, he could see the baby’s little hands tugging at his hair and smiling. that smile. his heart clenches in his chest..what is he going to do? he’s still a hero and has a lot of responsibilities. he shouldn’t be considering adopting a baby who just so happens to anonymously be dropped off here. no name or anything to trace back to.

another tug. now he was smiling back at her with a goofy grin he rarely shows to others unless loosened up with some drinks. he made up his mind now. he’d adopt her.

you were around the age of one when your father adopted you. at the age of two you got your quirk which shocked your doctor. it was a rarity for something like that to happen. they weren’t sure what your quirk was exactly.

it was claimed to be teleportation at first. in daycare you suddenly got the hiccups and you disappeared from your original spot to a few tables behind you. the teachers were concerned of your safety and tried everything they could to get rid of your hiccups.

that was soon debunked when you managed to get into your father’s agency. the security was secure so how were you able to get passed them? how could you teleport that far from daycare to the agency? you couldn’t have had that much energy to be able to do that with just teleporting.

your father was worried about your safety so he decided that it’d be best if you were trained as soon as possible.

more claims about what your quirk was starting to build up and eventually at the age of four you had an idea of what it was. time. now that you have a better idea of what your quirk was, you started to train. it was tedious really but you got through it with a lot of patience.

over time you got better control of your quirk and little things like sneezing or having hiccups didn’t affect you anymore. during training you discovered your other quirk. it’s subtle as it only enhances your abilities when you focus on one spot you want it to go to.

you could use both of them at the same time after a few weeks of training.

back to the present now, you were informed that the homeroom you were supposed to be in yesterday was class 1-A. you used your quirk beforehand to be prepared today sense you didn’t want to be behind.

your hero costume didn’t correlate with your quirk at all but you didn’t care. using your quirk again you stop time to be able to go to the meeting spot all might in your vision said to go to. this was also a chance for you to observe your new surroundings. plus it doesn’t hurt to be earlier than others.

a few minutes passed by and you arrived at the designated place. the symbol of peace stood with his back towards you, seeming to be in the middle of talking to himself. you didn’t jump in joy or gawk at him because you’ve been around all kind of heroes since you were a baby. it wasn’t anything new or exciting.

unfreezing time, you tap all might’s arm to notify him of your presence. he lets out an unusual high pitched yelp and quickly turns around to lay his eyes on you.

“you caught me by surprise there for a second..um who might you be? i don’t think i’ve seen you around u.a. before?” the symbol of peace gives you a questioning look.

“i’m (l/n) (y/n), i just got here. i apologize for startling you and for being late..” you bow your head slightly to show some sort of respect.

realization dawns on his face, “no no, don’t worry about any of that. i’m glad you made it on time because you’ll all be doing some serious combat training very soon.”

as he finishes his sentence, the other students arrive in their hero costumes. you knew you shouldn’t judge, but most of their costumes looked ugly.

some of them don’t even look like costumes, they just look like normal clothes. others look too extra for their own good.

you ignored all might’s praising towards the others while you studied everyone.

“now, shall we ge—“

“wait— you’re that freak,” bakugou looks on at you in surprise. everyone else exchanges confused looks.

you don’t say anything back.

“how did you get into u.a.? you weren’t at the entrance exam and you weren’t even here yesterday.” irritation was evident in his voice.

midoriya appears a few seconds after the others and when he notices you, he so badly wanted to say something. the tension he was feeling in the air stopped him though.

when you answered with only silence again, bakugou grew impatient and was about to say something when all might intervenes.

“now, now, young bakugou, you shouldn’t pry into other people’s lives. let’s get started now.”

he begins to explain the combat training activity you all will be doing. the class is broken into teams of twelve. half are heroes, half are villains. you didn’t exactly listen after that as you heard what all might in your vision said already.

all might decides to choose teams with lots and you are the one to draw first because you are closer to him.  the others followed after and paired with their partners. team d..i wonder who i’m paired up with..

“who got d?”

out of all people. it had to be him.

“me,” you answer while trudging to bakugou. he looks just as annoyed as you do under your mask.

“team a will be the heroes, team d will be the villains.” all might announces. he tells everyone else to go to the monitoring room to watch the fight afterwards.

bakugou and midoriya exchanged looks but you didn’t pay any mind to it.

all might tells you and bakugou that you both could enter the building and setup. the fight will begin when midoriya and his partner are released after five minutes pass.

then all might went on a whole motivational spew that you didn’t care about. you entered the building first and it didn’t take you long to find the floor where the nuclear weapon was.

there wasn’t much on the floor you and bakugou were on, not like you expected anything. five minutes to you felt like an eternity, especially with a certain someone with you.

“did you know deku had a quirk?” bakugou’s question slightly startles you out of your thoughts.

“we should make a plan with the few minutes we have left,” you dismiss his question. it wasn’t your place to talk about that.

he lets out a scoff, clearly irritated by your lack of an answer.

“i have my own plan. you just stay up here, protect the bomb and not get in my way, freak.” bakugou growls out with his back facing you.

not too long after the fight began.

bakugou runs out of the room in search for the opponents, leaving you alone. knowing it would be awhile before you would do anything, you took a seat on the ground and closed your eyes.

destruction, most likely caused by bakugou, is heard underneath the floor you are on. a few more minutes passed, when it was time, you opened your eyes and stood.

“i know you are here.” you stand protectively in front of the nuclear weapon, ready. the girl gasps, soon regretting it. she takes a few hesitant steps out of her hiding spot and looks at you nervously.

she doesn’t know what your quirk is which is a great disadvantage for her. the girl speaks through her head piece and you let her. once she’s done she returns her attention to you.

a few seconds pass with both of you just staring at each other. the staring contest or whatever you would call it was broken when an explosion appears, causing the whole building to shake.

the girl talks through her head piece again, eyes steadily on you. she makes the first move. the girl runs forward but just before she could touch her fingertips together, you make a move.

in less than a second you stand in front of her, catching her completely off guard. her momentum is ruined as she falls forward right into your arms. you did quick work with restraining her with the capture tape.

“how did yo—“

“i need to go,” you cut her off and left the room in a rush.

bakugou and midoriya’s yelling grew louder as you drew closer to them. you got to both of them just as they are raising their fists.

slowing time, you pull midoriya to you and restrain him the same way you did with his partner. the way you did things weren’t flashy but with someone who has a time quirk, you didn’t really want to finish the fight in just a few minutes. besides, midoriya needed to let some things out which you weren’t going to interrupt.

you had to break the fight at that point because you didn’t want midoriya getting badly injured.

after you restrained midoriya you deactivated your quirk. bakugou is still in his original position, poised in a fighting stance. an explosion escapes his hand causing a big cloud of smoke and ash to appear before him. when it clears and he sees no sign of a disheveled midoriya, confusion overtakes his face.

“the villain team wins.” all might’s statement only confuses the hot headed blonde even more.

“(y/n)?” midoriya looks up at you, confused as well.

bakugou snaps his head at where midoriya sits when hearing his voice. then his eyes lay on you standing right next to him. the amount of anger he was seething at that moment was indescribable.

“i told you to not get in my fucking way freak, what didn’t you understand?” he stomps toward you with an intimidating aura surrounding him. you started to untie midoriya. you did the best thing you could do at that moment. you ignored him.

“i’m sorry i didn’t help you sooner,” you whispered to midoriya. he shakes his head and stands up with the help of your hand you offered.

“y-you don’t have to apologize, you did nothing wrong.” you really missed his endless kindness. he may think that but you knew you could have lessened the injuries he sustained.

all might arrived not too long after with midoriya’s partner who was now unrestrained, following behind him.

midoriya was sent to the nurse’s office to get patched up while the rest of you went to the monitoring room to discuss the fight.

“the mvp of this exercise is young (l/n).”

many agreements came from the other students. one of the students explains why you are chosen as the mvp instead of the others. her in-depth explanation bored you so you tuned her out.

the reason you didn’t just do everything by yourself even though you were very capable of doing so was because of midoriya. you knew he had to grow in some sort of way when fighting bakugou but you didn’t want it to go too far.

restraining uraraka gave you the opportunity to break the fight up before it could lead to something worse. midoriya didn’t know uraraka was restrained so if he did try to follow through with his plan, it wouldn’t have worked.

you didn’t want him to put so much energy into the plan only to find out he failed. the best option was to restrain him yourself. you gave him enough time to open up to bakugou. midoriya was able to tell bakugou how he truly felt and what is driving him to become a hero.

the other fights happened with you not caring all too much. you sat somewhere far from the others, drowning their voices out by having your thoughts preoccupy you.

you hoped you could see midoriya soon. his injuries could have been worse but you still worried for him.

Chapter 4: Together Again

Chapter Text

“hey, it’s midoriya.” one of the students announces loudly as the class door slowly slides open to reveal said boy.

you perk up from your seat at hearing his name. he hadn’t shown up in any of the afternoon classes which only worried you more. during those classes you kept to yourself, too busy bullying yourself for not jumping in sooner to help him.

you contemplate on whether to approach him or not when the other students are crowding around him. in the end you decide to approach him after the introductions have ended.

“midoriya,” your voice and presence seem to silence the others bickering. you take a few steps closer until you are right next to him. you take a moment to just scan him, noting there aren’t any visible injuries other than a few scratches and scrapes on his face and hands. his uniform also sustained damage, the sleeves left in tatters and other various rips.

midoriya turns his attention to you, a bright blush blossoming on his cheeks at the sight of you in uniform. he doesn’t need to know what you look like to be attracted to you.

your personality alone drew him in back in middle school and your strong will to protect him. you didn’t change after all those years.

midoriya pulls back at something or someone touching his cheek, successfully bringing him back to the present. it was you. his blush darkens.

“w-what are you doing?” midoriya stammers out, covering his face with his hands to possibly hide the darkening blush on his face.

“you have a few scrapes on your face and hands, can i—“

“how did you even get in?” bakugou interrupts you causing everyone to look at him, “you weren’t at the exam so how did you get in?”

a few tense seconds pass by before you answer him, “i was recommended.” you tell him the partial truth. he doesn’t need to know your current situation and neither did the others. the principal and the teachers at u.a. all thought it is best you keep that information disclosed.

the ash blonde’s face scrunches up in a scowl, “of course you were.” his eyes held the same amount of hatred it did when he was fighting midoriya.

no one says anything as he stands up from his seat and slings his backpack over his back. he trudges towards you and stops just a couple of inches away from your face, “you made me look like a fool during training..”

midoriya’s brows furrow in confusion, “but your team w—“

“that win wasn’t mine, it was hers,”  bakugou sneers before flickering his crimson eyes to you, “enjoy that win because you won’t be getting another. i’m going to be the number one hero no matter what.”

after the short tempered blonde left the classroom the tense atmosphere breaks. “wow, i wonder what’s wrong with him?” mina comments.

“don’t mind him, (l/n). you did great during that match,” the red head known as kirishima, reassures you.

“you moved so fast we didn’t even know what happened,” sero adds. you simply nod, unsure of what to really say.

“what is your quirk, (l/n)? is it teleportation?” the amphibian like girl asks with her index finger touching her chin. the others seem just as interested in your answer. you are getting slightly uncomfortable from the attention.

“time.” you bluntly answer, not wanting to say anymore. the eccentric students comment on your quirk and continue praising you. not wanting to seem rude, you give subtle nods and little, ‘thank you’s.’

once school ended midoriya and you exit the building together to walk to his apartment. the both of you are quiet, silently enjoying each other’s presence.

“i missed you,” you admit, looking forward rather than at him. your cheeks are tinted a pink hue. you are glad you are wearing a mask, one of the perks of wearing one is being able to hide your expression.

“i missed you too..” midoriya gives you a shy smile. his heart is practically beating against his chest, “is it okay for me to ask..why you left?”

you nod hesitantly and answer him, “i had some family problems. my grandma fell ill and i had to be there for her. my grandma lived far from my middle school so my family thought it was best if i transferred to a different school close to where she lived. i’m sorry for leaving so suddenly..”

you’d think after lying countless of times you’d get use to the heavy weight of guilt dragging you down. midoriya nods understandingly and apologizes for bringing up bad memories. you dismiss him and talk about other things that are trivial with him as you both continue to walk.

now that midoriya and you are in front of his apartment you feel slightly nervous to meet his mother. you don’t know why. maybe you’re just afraid of what she thinks of you. the two of you did meet back then and she was very kind. part of you is afraid that her view of you has changed after you left midoriya without a proper explanation.

midoriya unlocks the door and opens it wide enough for you to enter. you take a few steps in and look around. it still looks the same with just a few minor differences.

“izuku, how w—“ midoriya’s mother freezes when her eyes land on you. timidly, you bow to her, “mrs. midoriya, it’s nice to see you a—“  arms wrap around you, pulling you into a bone crushing hug.

“why are you being so formal? call me inko! i’ve missed you so much, dear and so has izuku! he was so sad when you left, i didn’t know what to do to cheer him up. let’s forget about the past though, i’m so happy you are here now,” inko babbled out. you hug back, slowly trying to understand what she just said.

she isn’t mad at you like you thought, of course she isn’t, she’s midoriya’s mom. one of the kindest people you know. why did you even think she’d hate you for something so small?

“mom, you are hurting her,” midoriya steps in when noticing how tightly inko is holding you. inko takes a few seconds to collect herself before pulling away, a wide smile on her face and a few tears staining her cheeks.

“i’m sorry, i got a little carried away. do settle in, make yourself at home.”

you take your shoes off and place them on the shoe rack, midoriya following. he leads you to his room and opens the door, letting you enter first. it’s been years since you’ve been in it and it hasn’t changed like the rest of the apartment. the few changes you notice are the additional all might posters and figurines decorating the room.

midoriya takes a seat on his bed and pats the spot next to him. you take the spot and think of any sort of topic to talk about that didn’t involve you.

“how were things after i left?”

“e-everything was fine. nothing really happened..” midoriya answers while fidgeting with his fingers and avoiding eye contact. it was obvious that he was lying. should you confront him? no. you shouldn’t. you lied to him many times and he has never pried. most likely from not even knowing you lied but still. he didn’t pry, so neither would you.

“how did your first day go yesterday? i wasn’t there because some travel problems occurred.”

“it went well. i made a lot of friends surprisingly. we had to do a quirk assessment test and i didn’t do so well. aizawa gave us quite a scare when he said the lowest ranking student would get expelled. in the end he admitted to lying about expelling anyone. i bet if you were there you’d rank in the top five.” midoriya smiles fondly at you, his subtle compliment taking you back.

“why do you think that?”

“your quirk gives you a lot of advantages. there’s many things you could do with it. the tests we had to do wouldn’t even be hard for you.” he explains. you know he is probably right but don’t say anything further. if you admit he’s right you would sound narcissistic. you opted to just humming in response.

“do you still have that notebook? the hero analysis one?” your question seems to light midoriya’s face up. he practically leaps off his bed and to his desk, grabbing a tattered looking notebook and returning to his previous seat.

“i’m surprised you even remember it.” he hands you the notebook and you take it gingerly, not wanting to possibly tear the already damaged notebook. parts of the notebook was singed and slightly wrinkled.

“what happened to it?” midoriya’s face scrunches up in pain as he recalls what had happened to his notebook. you really wish you had stayed a little longer to protect him, “i can fix it if you want.”

midoriya shakes his head, “no, no, it’s fine. i don’t want you wasting your energy on something so small.” this time it was your turn to shake your head.

“i won’t lose any energy from doing something so simple, don’t worry so much izuku.” you reassure him. the both of you have your eyes trained on the notebook and within a few short seconds, the notebook is fixed. you hand it to izuku and he takes it, looking it over and flipping through all the pages in disbelieve. his eyes begin to water and he looks back at you, a big genuine smile spreads across his face.

“can i h-hug you?” his innocent question nearly made your heart explode. the smile on your face was starting to hurt your cheeks.

“you don’t need to ask for a hug dummy, come here.” you wrap your arms around him and run your hands through his soft curly hair. he returns the hug, his tears leaving a stain on your uniform.

“t-thank you, this r-really means a lot to me.”

“i know.”

a sharp headache strikes you and your ears start to ring. you close your eyes and when you open them again all your senses come back to you at once. you weren’t in izuku’s arms, in his apartment. instead you stood a few feet away from where the u.a. gates were supposed to be. it was only a pile of rubble now. a bunch of news reporters walk over the disintegrated pieces and hound aizawa and present mic.

when you close your eyes and open them again the scene changes. you are in this dome like building with all sorts of environments. near a fountain, many villains emerge from this black void. the class is in the middle of trying to run for the exit.

“(y/n)? are you okay?” you snap your eyes open at the sound of izuku’s voice. he’s holding you by your shoulders with a worried look written all over his face, “you were frozen..”

“i’m fine, sorry for worrying you. i’m just tired..” how many times have you lied to him now? you can’t tell him the things you just saw in your vision, it would scare him to death. “i think i’m going to go home before it gets late.”

“i’ll walk you home.”

Chapter 5: Corrupt

Notes:

edit: this chapter is finished

i also want to explain one of the things mc can do with her quirk. she can, ‘blink’ to different places, basically like teleportation.

Chapter Text

the next day you arrive at u.a. and see the same scene you saw in your vision. not wanting to deal with the annoying news reporters, you stop time. in the corner of your eye you spot a lone figure. turning around fully, you take in their appearance.

the figure is a man probably in his early twenties with light blue hair and crimson eyes. his skin is pale and littered with little scabs. he is also clad in all black clothes.

the aura he gives off makes you feel uneasy. quickly, you turn your back on him and walk past everyone to the main entrance with ease. once inside the building you unpause time.

after everyone arrives to homeroom, aizawa starts to speak, “decent work on yesterday’s combat training you guys, i saw the video feeds and went over each of your teams’ results.” he turns to bakugou and continues, “bakugou, you’re talented, but you need to learn how to work with others.“

bakugou sighs and looks away mumbling, “yeah, whatever..”

“and (l/n), good job on strategizing, that’s a good trait to have as a hero,” aizawa praises. you reply with a soft, ‘thank you’ and aizawa resumes talking.

“lets get down to business, our first task will decide our future—“

“is it another quirk test!?”

“you need to pick a class representative.”

everyone sighs in relief and you take this moment to bask in the silence. it didn’t last long as they all yelled about wanting to be the class representative. eventually things calmed down and everyone decided to do votes.

in the end you somehow got six votes, izuku got three, and yaoyorozu got two votes. everyone else got zero votes. you were surprised by the results and felt very on the spot as you were ushered up to the front of the class.

“how did i get three votes!?” izuku exclaims.

“okay you idiots, who voted for them!?” bakugou shouts while standing up abruptly from his seat.

“what, did you honestly think that anyone was gonna vote for you?” sero says, striking a nerve in the hot headed blonde.

“alright, the class rep is (l/n), and our deputy is midoriya.” aizawa declares. he returns to sulking behind the podium.

“really? it’s not a mistake?” izuku inquires, still in disbelieve. the others settle into an agreement, content with the election results.

how did i get any votes? i don’t even know most of them..

you honestly don’t know how to feel. sure, you would get more recognization for being the class representative, but did you really want that?

if you weren’t so good at hiding your emotions from others you’d be just like izuku, a nervous wreck. you sweep your eyes across the room, wondering who those six people were.

“why would anyone vote for me?” you questioned mostly to yourself but izuku heard you with him being so close.

“well..you’re always so calm and your quirk would be useful in certain situations. you could really help the whole class. a-at least that’s why i voted for you,” izuku stutters out the last part with reddened cheeks.

“you voted for me?” you weren’t really surprised by that. izuku would always support you and find ways to compliment you.

-

you decided not to go to lunch with the others and instead wander around the school to familiarize yourself with the building.

izuku, iida, and uraraka notices you walking the opposite way of where the cafeteria is. izuku asks you where you are going and you tell him that you aren’t hungry.

“it’s important for us students to have a well balanced meal. us aspiring heroes should always focus on our health to be in top shape. that is why i think it would be best if you joined us at lunch, (l/n),” iida explains in a stern voice, almost sounding like he was scolding you.

“i’ll be fine, you guys should get to lunch before the line gets long,” you suggest, hoping that this will end the conversation. it’s not like you can eat in the cafeteria anyway. especially with so many people there.

izuku bids you goodbye as well as the other two. iida seems like he wants to say more but is already being pulled away by midoriya.

as you roam around the school you think about your classmates. most of them are very eccentric and loud. very loud. they kind of overwhelm you with how extroverted they are.

some of them are just as quiet as you though. like that bird head boy, the half and half boy, and multi arms. you probably should remember their names.

you stop walking and jolt up at the sound of an alarm going off.

“warning, level three security breach, all students please evacuate in an orderly fashion.”

you are slightly disappointed in how unsecure the school is. you came to this school to be protected from possible villains pursuing you and others. finding out that the security is breached after attending for only two days worries you. wanting to continue your exploration, you pause time to carry on with your own little tour.

the man you saw earlier suddenly crosses your mind. could he be the cause of the security breach? he does look like a villain. part of you reprimands yourself for judging someone by their appearance. he could simply be a civilian passing by and just so happened to come across the commotion with the news reporters.

but what if he is the cause? you have the sudden urge to find him. if he is in the building, that is. with a goal in mind now, you start your search.

turning a corner you bump into something solid in your haste to find the mysterious guy. upon looking up, you see the exact man. startled, you unpause time. the blue haired man stumbles a few steps back, surprised.

once he regains footing, his eyes land on you. a wide smile spreads across his face causing you to freeze in place. you’ve never seen a villain in real life before. your father and his other hero friends sheltered you up until now.

“it’s nice to see you again..been awhile since i’ve last seen you,” the man says, taking in your appearance with his beady eyes.

you feel as if your throat has closed in on itself.

“you have such an amazing quirk. i’ve always wanted to tell you that in person.” the man continues, his haunting smile never faltering.

“such.”

he takes a step closer to you.

“an.”

and another.

“amazing.”

and another.

“quirk.”

his breath is brushing your right ear. breaking out of your stupor, you pause time again. taking a few shaky steps back, you blink to a different location in the building.

he’s the one. he must be the one who sent you those letters. you aren’t safe here.

not wanting to deal with the horde of students that will fill the halls you blink to your homeroom class and unpause time. waiting for the chaos in the halls to die down seems like the best option at the moment. it also gives you time to calm your racing heart.

-

the class door slides open, bringing your attention to it. your other classmates enter, filling the room with chatter. through the chatter you managed to pick up that the news reporters were the reason to the alarm sounding off. you already know that. what you don’t know is why was that strange man roaming the halls of u.a.

did he use his quirk to destroy the security wall? if he did then his quirk is pretty strong. the u.a. barrier is thick and tall. it would take a lot of energy out of me to age it until it turned to dust.

did he come for you? no..that would be a stupid idea, especially when you are somewhere public. if he was going to kidnap you he most likely wouldn’t do it in broad daylight too. if you aren’t the reason he’s in u.a. then what was?

“(y/n)? are you okay?” izuku’s concerned voice takes you back from your thoughts. you didn’t even notice that he was standing near your desk.

“i’m..” your attention goes back to the class room entrance. aizawa’s tall stature enters the classroom last with an exhausted expression. you felt like jumping out of your seat and rushing to him. you didn’t though. instead you got up from your seat after excusing yourself from izuku and walk up to aizawa with your legs slightly trembling.

“mr. aizawa, i need to speak with you privately,” your voice comes out surprisingly steady. aizawa stops in his tracks and lets out a sigh, not even turning his attention to you when he replies, “whatever you want to talk about can wait.”

“this is an important matter,” you try hard not to let your irritation show but aizawa picks up on your unusual behavior. he tells you to step out of the classroom with him and you do.

now that you’ve got his attention you can’t seem to find your voice.

“well? what is it?” aizawa prompts you to speak.

you hesitate for a moment before speaking in a soft voice, “please don’t be mad at me..”

“what are you going on about?”

“i was roaming around the school during lunch when the alarm went off. i know i’m not supposed to use my quirk without permission but i used it anyways. i stopped time and continued wandering around. there was this man i bumped into who i also saw in the morning behind the crowd of news reporters..he looked strange. he didn’t have a u.a. uniform and didn’t look like any of the staff members from u.a. when i bumped into him, i accidentally unpaused time and he noticed me. he knows me. he went on about how it’s been awhile since he’s seen me and how amazing my quirk is..i paused time again and returned to homeroom to calm down,” you take a much needed breath after not pausing once.

aizawa looks past you with unreadable eyes. as the seconds go by you start to get nervous.

“i’m sorry for not informing a teacher right away. he could still be in the building and it’s my fault.”

“no, this isn’t your fault. you don’t need to apologize for anything. you did what you thought was right. do you remember what this man looked like in specific?”

“he is of average built, has light blue hair that reaches about his shoulders, crimson eyes, sickly pale skin with little scabs littered on it, and he wore all black clothes,” you recall. thinking back to your encounter with him that wasn’t even an hour ago still gives you chills.

“thank you for telling me this. i should let principal nezu know of this right away, you can return to class now. i’ll handle everything from here,” aizawa gives you a slight nod before departing.

your legs stop trembling and your chest feels somewhat light now. you really thought the whole conversation would go downhill. the alternative being you getting suspended for making stupid decisions.

now that you think about it, aizawa didn’t mention you getting punished for using your quirk..so he must have dismissed it. right?

you internally hope you won’t get punished for it and enter the classroom. izuku is by your side the moment he lays his eyes on you. he looks around for a minute, noticing aizawa is missing.

“is there something wrong? where is mr. aizawa?” his eyes focus on you, making you even more nervous. you try to compose yourself.

“a teacher i bumped into..i think her name was miss. midnight? she wanted me to pass on a message to mr. aizawa, so i did. he just left to speak with her directly.” you explain, lying on the fly seeming to get easier for you.

you return to your seat when uraraka and iida walk up to you and swarm you with questions.

“are you alright, (l/n)? you didn’t get trampled or anything in the crowd, did you?” uraraka leans in, eyeing you for any injuries you may have.

“i hope you’re alright, it would be a shame if one of my fellow classmates got hurt.” iida followed after, doing an odd hand chopping motion.

you reassured them that you are alright (more than once for iida) and that was the end of it. it is nice to have people that care about you but it is slightly draining too..

aizawa returns to the classroom after roughly twenty minutes. izuku talked about what happened in the halls and informs you that he wants to forfeit his role to iida during the little free time you guys had. you didn’t really care about the whole class representative thing so you told izuku he should do what he feels like.

everyone takes their seat except izuku and you. he begins his speech and at the end of it class was wrapped up. the rest of the day went on as normal except you didn’t speak at all.

izuku took notice of this and decided to ask you if you’re okay again after school ended. you tell him you’re fine. he knows you aren’t telling the truth but doesn’t push further.

you turn the other way which stops izuku from continuing forward to the school exit.

“where are you going?”

“i have to speak to someone..” you vaguely answer. it hurt to see his concerned face twist into a sad one at realizing that you won’t be walking with him.

“ah, okay..just, text me when you get home okay?” izuku gives you a small smile before walking away. he is worried about you. you’ve been acting off since the alarm went off. he knows you are hiding something but doesn’t want to pressure you for an answer. maybe you’ll tell him when you’re comfortable.

this situation reminds him of that time in aldera junior high..when you left him. you wouldn’t leave him now though..you just got here. izuku ignores these negative thoughts and continues to walk alone. he shouldn’t think bad of you just because you left. you left for a good reason.

you promise to text him and went on your way to the principal’s office. mentally, you prepare what you want to tell principal nezu.

standing in front of the door, you raise a fist to the door and rap on it firmly.

“who is it?” principal nezu’s voice rings out.

“(l/n) (y/n)..i have a few things i’d like to tell you, they are really important.”

the door opens and you enter, looking around you realize that the school staff are having a meeting.

“i’m sorry if i am interrupting something..” you trail off. you feel even more nervous now that so many eyes are on you.

“no, don’t be. come in, you can have my seat.” aizawa gestures to his seat before closing the door. you take the seat that’s in between present mic and midnight without any other words.

“what would you like to tell me? would you like to talk one on one about it?” principal nezu asks. he sits behind his desk and waits patiently for your answer.

“no, it’s fine..i think everyone should know.”

“you may tell us now, if you’re ready.”

“i had a vision about the school barriers being ruined and the news reporters last night. i didn’t think much of it because it isn’t uncommon for my visions to not be correct..so i decided not to call anyone about it. if i hadn’t just ignored it, then maybe this all could have been prevented..a possible villain could have not got in..” the more you talked, the guiltier you feel.

midnight wraps an arm around your shoulders and rubs your forearm reassuringly, “this isn’t your fault honey, we don’t blame you. breathe for me.”

you take in midnight’s perfume, your body relaxing naturally.

“i also had another vision..i don’t know what the place is but i remember being in this dome like building? inside there were different kind of ..environments? it sort of looked like an amusement park? in the center there is a fountain and black voids or portals with villains appearing from them..my classmates looked troubled as they ran for the exit.”

“usj..” principal nezu mutters under his breath, “there will be an attack.”

“maybe we should delay the trip, we can organize the schedule and add backup as a precaution,” thirteen suggests.

“you sure we should actually delay the trip? like the young lady said, it might not be true,” snipe adds.

“but there is still a possibility that it can happen. we should tread cautiously,” aizawa states, crossing his arms.

everyone looks at principal nezu for his answer, knowing his words are final. principal nezu thinks about it.

“we will delay the trip for four days. that should give us enough time to change the schedule and prepare for any possible attacks that may happen on the day of the trip,” he announces.

“i think that would be best. i promise i’ll attend the trip as well to protect the class,” all might declares in his usual booming voice.

principal nezu turns his attention back to you, “is there anything else you’d like to say?”

“no, that’s all i wanted to say.” you didn’t know what they were talking about but you didn’t bother questioning it.

“you may return home now, but before leaving i want to assure you that you can contact any one of us if you have concerning visions again. even if they could be false, it is still best to keep an open mind and be ready for anything.”

you take in principal nezu’s words and promise to inform him or any of the teachers of your visions.

aizawa opens the door for you as you take your leave. you feel less guilty now.

-

“why didn’t you answer our calls?” one of your guards, hiroko, asks. his face is set in a worried expression, slight annoyance in his voice.

“oh..you guys called me?” you take your phone out of your bag and turn it on. multiple missed calls and texts pop up. four messages from izuku, ten from hiroko, and five from masashi, your other bodyguard. there are twelve missed calls in total, “i forgot to check it, i’m sorry..”

“you should really follow the rules. i was so worried about you! i thought something bad happened..” hiroko lectures like a mother hen. he really did look upset.

“why did you come home a little later? were you hanging out with midoriya?” masashi questions after taking a drink from his glass of water.

all three of you are in your apartment. sense your father can’t be here with you, he hired some bodyguards to protect you. hiroko and masashi are fairly young for bodyguards. they both get along with you and never leave you bored. hiroko occupies the apartment on your left while masashi on the right.

“i was talking to principal nezu about my visions..”

hiroko perks up at this, “you had some visions? why didn’t you tell us?” his back straightens in the plush, black couch.

“i didn’t think it was important..you know how my visions could be wrong.” you look away from him.

“stop making up excuses, you really need to put more faith in yourself, (y/n). what happened before is all in the past,” hiroko playfully messes up your hair.

“i won’t give you a big lecture this time but please follow the rules. make sure to check your phone and message us if you ever spend a little more time at school,” masashi requests in his authoritative voice. out of the two, masashi is the stricter one. he doesn’t show too much emotion but does care. hiroko is more of the emotional type. he reminds you of a fretting mother.

you nod and give both of them hugs before leaving the living room to go to your room.

once inside you open izuku’s messages.

-

izuku:

are you at home?

izuku:

(y/n)?

izuku:

i hope you’re safe at home right now

izuku:

please message me when you get the chance

-

it is cute how worried izuku is for you. you message him back. today you’ve just been feeling guilty for many things..

-

you:

i’m home, sorry i took so long, my phone was running low on battery because i forgot to charge it last night..

-

you place your phone down to start changing out of your uniform when your phone buzzes.

-

izuku:

that’s good, i’m happy that you’re safe

you:

i promise we can walk together tomorrow 💕

-

izuku doesn’t reply after about two minutes pass. you chalk it up to him maybe falling asleep so you begin to change into your sleep wear. once you are done your phone buzzes again.

-

izuku:

i’m looking forward to it!

izuku:

i’ll be going to sleep now, you should too. goodnight 💞

you:

goodnight 💕💞💕

Chapter 6: UPDATE

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

i haven’t been updating mostly because my mental health has been going down hill + i keep coming up with ideas and taking a billion years to plan them out.

i’ll share some of my ideas that i have in mind for new bnha fanfics. i hope they will make up for my lack of updating. please DO NOT use any of these ideas. i’ll be making these fics myself, soon.

𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐱 ; 𝐛𝐧𝐡𝐚 𝐱 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫

; various! bnha x fem! reader

; yandere! + text! fic

; coming soon!

[ 𝟏 . ] you download an otome game called, 'paradox' and become addicted to the game. the longer you play, the more you realize that the game isn't as normal as it seems.

𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ; 𝐛𝐧𝐡𝐚

; this is inspired by, ‘i know what you did last summer. (it’s an au basically).

; horror/mystery

; coming soon!

[ 𝟏 . ] i’ll be choosing certain bnha characters to fill the roles in. ‘i know what you did last summer,’ is about some teens crashing into a little boy riding a bike on the street and then doing a hit and run. the fic won’t be the exact same like in the book because the book’s ending was unsatisfying. so i’m making my own version.

𝐯𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 ; 𝐛𝐧𝐡𝐚 𝐱 𝐦! 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫

; various! bnha x m! reader

; yandere fic

[ 𝟏 . ] this is a character x reader fic but i’ll be using my oc (own character) in the reader’s place. you can imagine yourself as my oc. the plot is still under construction but the main thing is, the reader is a cam boy + has a cool quirk. this takes place after class 1A graduates and become new pro heroes.

𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐮𝐤𝐢 𝐱 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐱 𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐢

this other fic idea i have involves the reader, bakugou, and his twin that is the opposite of him. i haven’t thought of a plot yet but i am thinking of making a fic with this ship.

𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐮

a babysitter au where the reader has to baby sit bnha characters that are babies. this will likely be a short story.

𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞! 𝐝𝐞𝐤𝐮 𝐱 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫

yandere! deku x reader. the plot is basically deku cyberstalking the reader and starting to harass her with creepy/odd comments + messages.

𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜/𝐬𝐜𝐢 𝐟𝐢 𝐚𝐮

i have this sci fi/horror/apocalyptic/meta au i made up. basically bnha characters play this game and get sucked into it.

the game plot:

cybernetic installments/parts is the new trend. a apocalyptic outbreak occurs when a unknown virus spreads, infecting the people who have cyber parts.

the main characters in the game are a group of friends. that’s all i’m going to be revealing. there may be a sequel to this if it goes well.

Notes:

i’ll update this fic at some point. please check out my other fics when i publish them in the mean time if a chapter of this fic isn’t up yet.

Chapter 7: UPDATE: TWO

Notes:

i will delete this chapter once i publish the new chapter~

Chapter Text

i just added a little more to chapter five: corrupt, please read it! it’s not a lot but it does give you guys a bit more info. i’ll be making new chapters soon, again sorry for the slow updates.

also i just published my other interactive bnha fic, ‘paradox.’ check it out if you’d like~

paradox
