Chapter 12: First Day of UA

Summary:

Kakashi's UA arc is a go!

Chapter Text

“So, we’re meeting someone you know from your past life today,” Hitoshi points out as he lies on Kakashi’s bed.

“Yup,” Kakashi replies as he fixes his hair.

“You nervous? You and this Itachi guy had a… weird history before,” Hitoshi voices out.

Weird is an understatement.

“Of course I’m nervous, but it’s a weird feeling. I’ve been alone my whole life regarding my past life and now I’ll be meeting Itachi before I could even try and find Obito,” Kakashi says while looking back at Hitoshi, sighing.

“Do you think he might have any clues about that?”

“I don’t know. Hopefully,”

Kakashi puts his brush down and sighs.

“Let’s tell our dads we’re ready to go. Ten-kun is already on his way to UA,”

With a nod, Hitoshi gets up and approaches Kakashi before pulling him into a hug.

“I got your back and you got mine?” Hitoshi asks as Kakashi hugs him back.

“Always, but you should try to make some friends,”

Hitoshi lets go of him and snorts.

“I will when you do,”

Kakashi levels him a look but doesn’t say anything before they walk out of his room.

“Look at you two in UA’s uniform!” Shinya says, his phone already out, “Let me take a quick picture and then I’d like to take a selfie with Kakashi,”

Obliging, Kakashi and Hitoshi simultaneously use their fingers to form bunny ears behind the other’s head, making Hizashi chuckle and Shouta smile in amusement. Hitoshi walks over to Hizashi and Shouta as Shinya hugs Kakashi close, and they do the same pose as before for Shinya to post on his account. Then the man hugs him again.

“It feels like you were my little boy just yesterday, but now you’re going to high school,” Shinya says before kissing the top of his head.

Kakashi just closes his eyes in his dad’s embrace.

“Never let anyone take away your happiness. Not even people from before,” Shinya tells him.

“I know, dad,” Kakashi replies before they separate.

“Good luck with Itachi,”

“Thank you, dad,” Kakashi answers with a nod, getting his hair ruffled by Shouta as he and Hitoshi head outside with Hizashi.

“You listeners excited to meet your classmates? Speaking outside of you-know-who,”

“I’m not interested in making friends,” Hitoshi makes clear, making Kakashi roll his eyes.

“I’m open to try and make friends, but if they’re assholes then I have no need to associate with them,” Kakashi answers.

“That’s fair,” Hizashi replies, “I’m sure you guys have some nice kids in your class, though. But if not, at least you have Amajiki-kun to eat lunch with,” The blond continues with a small grin as Kakashi looks away and Hitoshi smirks before looking at the former.

“Ah yes, Amajiki-senpai. One of Uncle Zawa’s students whose ass you beat and he said ‘teach me’ with the biggest stars in his eyes after you helped him up,”

Kakashi turns his head, his expression flat as he stares at Hitoshi.

“Amajiki-senpai is taken, dumbass. How is Yoarashi doing, by the way?”

“...Touche,” Hitoshi replies, his smirk falling from his face by the time Shouta gets in the car.

“Shouuuutaaa, you never told me Amajiki-kun was in a relationship!” Hizashi wails as he leans on his best friend.

“I don’t see our students’ personal lives as a topic for gossip,” Shouta replies before smirking, “And no, I will not tell you who it is,”

“Shou, you can’t do this to me,”

“I can and I will. Now drive,” Shouta deadpans, getting a huff from Hizashi before he starts driving.

Kakashi and Hitoshi are pretty silent during the ride, messaging Tenya until the teen stops responding soon after arriving. Thankfully, the group arrives as well, still fairly early, which is what Shouta wanted based on what he told them before going off into the building.

“If you notice me, no you don’t,”

Kakashi and Hitoshi shared a silent look of amusement as the man walks off meanwhile Hizashi gives them final hugs and follows behind Shouta.

“Ready?”

“Nope, but let’s do this,” Hitoshi replies as they walk into UA together.

“Yamada! Kamihara!” They hear from a feminine voice, looking back to see Hado running after them, Toogata and Amajiki following closely behind.

“Hey, Kamihara-kun! I thought you weren’t attending UA till next year! Much less did I ever guess you’re Edgeshot’s son,” Toogata says with a friendly grin before looking at Hitoshi, “I also heard that you got in through recommendations. Congrats!”

Hitoshi thanks him, and Kakashi shrugs as they start walking down the hallway.

“Aizawa is close friends with my dad and practically helped raise me. Also, I got bored in middle school and graduated early. There's no way I was gonna stay there if Hito-kun and Ten-kun were gonna be going to high school already,” Kakashi explains.

The three older teens look at him with wide eyes.

“Woah, Aizawa-sensei wasn’t kidding about how smart you are! Right, Tamaki-kun?” Hado exclaims, nudging Amajiki, who nods.

“I’m glad we’ll be attending UA a-at the same time, though. When everything settles, w-would you mind training with m-me?” Amajiki asks, growing more visibly anxious as he spoke.

“Sure,” Kakashi answers with a soft smile.

“Can I join? I got some new moves since the last time we met,” Toogata says with a wide grin.

Kakashi can’t help but grin at that.

“When do the gyms open for student use?” Kakashi asks.

“Usually after a week, right?” Hitoshi questions, looking over at their seniors, who all nod.

“Yup! One of us will make sure to reserve one of the gyms! Hopefully a teacher will be available,” Hado answers before the group stops in front of the 1-A door.

“Well, here’s your stop. We’ll see you guys around! Welcome to UA!” Toogata says with a wave.

“Don’t be strangers!” Hado adds with a wide grin, and Amajiki smiles nervously.

“It really is nice to s-see you guys. If either o-of you need a-anything…” Amajiki trails off when Hitoshi and Kakashi nod.

“Hope you get used to becoming the dependable senpai,” Kakashi says with a teasing smile, making him blush before he hides his face behind his hands.

“See you guys around,” Hitoshi says as they both wave the older teens off and finally open the door to their classroom.

Kakashi hesitates for a moment, but walks right behind his best friend and feels his breath hitch when his eyes land on those large, black wings that he saw a couple of weeks ago. Hitoshi walks over to Tenya immediately before the two look at Kakashi cautiously. When the other teen feels the stare and looks back at Kakashi, it's as if time slows.

Itachi suddenly stands from his seat, his face going from shocked to fury within a few seconds as he jumps up to pin Kakashi to the ground in an instant. Kakashi lets it happen, ignoring the commotion from their classmates and staying calm as Itachi brings up one of his longer feathers to put it against his neck, the red glow from the Sharingan illuminating his face. Kakashi anticipated this kind of reaction and immediately said something only people from their previous life would know.

“We used to be in the Anbu together. Team Ro with Yamato, a wood release user. I was Sasuke’s teacher,” Kakashi rushes to say in a hushed tone, forcing himself past the shock of seeing the Sharingan.

He never considered the possibility that Kekkei Genkai (bloodline ability) like the Sharingan would be able to exist in this life.

Itachi’s face becomes one of shock again, his eyes widening and the Sharingan disappearing as he removes the feather from his neck and gets off of Kakashi, pulling him up from the floor. Kakashi is immediately pulled into a hug by the teen, though he doesn’t hesitate to hug him back, feeling Itachi tremble against him.

“It’s good to see you, Kakashi. When I saw the posts, I didn’t want to believe it. I thought- I thought I was alone -”

“I know. Me too, but we can talk later,” Kakashi whispers back, feeling Itachi tense in his arms before he pulls away, his face going from emotional to carefully neutral, wiping the stray tears on his face as if nothing happened.

Kakashi sees all of the concerned and surprised looks from his classmates and fakes a smile before rubbing the back of his head.

“Sorry to concern you guys. We usually greet each other like this. It’s an inside joke of sorts,”

“And I won this time,” Itachi adds with a small smirk.

“Even so, suddenly tackling another student is an inappropriate way for future heroes to act with each other! However, thanks to the context, I will let it slide. I’m Iida Tenya,” Tenya says as he approaches them, his tone stern, though Kakashi can tell his best friend is forcing himself to scold them as he puts his hand out.

Itachi shakes his hand with a nod.

“Uchiha Itachi, and your criticism is noted. Nice to meet you,”

Uchiha? Clearly the HPSC let him choose a last name. Maybe because Hawks’ information is private? Kakashi wonders as they walk back towards the desks.

Checking the board, Kakashi ends up disappointed to see he’s not sitting near Tenya, Hitoshi, or Itachi, but sits at his seat in the front anyways when a few more people walk in. Glancing at the large teen next to him, Kakashi realizes that they’re wearing the same brand of masks.

“I didn’t know there was that shade of green for these masks,” Kakashi says, making the other masked boy turn toward him in surprise, “Where do you usually get yours? I’m fine with black and grey masks, but I wouldn’t mind a few green ones,”

“There’s a mall by Sasebo I usually go to for my masks,”

Kakashi widens his eyes.

“Woah, that’s far. I’m Kamihara Kakashi. Nice to meet another mask wearer,”

“Shouji Mezou. Nice to meet you too,” Shouji replies, though before he could say something else, Tenya walks over to their side of the classroom like a man on a mission.

Walking past him and Shouji, the two teens look behind them to see him go straight to a blond with spiky hair who has his feet up against his table.

“Remove your feet from that desk! Such an action is insulting to those who came to UA before us as well as the craftsmen who made the desk!” Tenya tells him angrily, making Kakashi and Hitoshi look at each other from across the room before sighing.

Over the years of knowing him, while Tenya has mellowed out some, it’s still not enough to let anything he sees as disrespect slide.

“Like I care!” The blond replies almost explosively, “What middle school are you from, you extra?”

Oh, this is one of the red flags pops mentioned, isn’t he? Kakashi ponders before looking away, not interested in observing an asshole.

“I’m from Somei Private Academy. My name is Iida Tenya,”

Ten-kun should stop entertaining the guy.

“Somei?” The blond sneers, “An elitist with a stick up his ass. I should blow you to bits,”

This time, Kakashi and Shouji share a look of exasperation with each other. Kakashi is sure they’ll get along just fine.

“Blow me to bits? Are you sure you really want to-” Tenya stops before Kakashi sees the guy walking away to go and talk to the other red flag in their class.

The only other person to challenge the 0-pointer, if Hitoshi and Tenya’s descriptions are accurate. Tenya ended up trying to help him rescue someone who got pinned by rubble at the end of the practical exam. The green-haired teen looks intimidated by the approach.

“I’m Iida Tenya-”

“I-I remember. Ah, I don’t think I got to tell you my name before. I’m Midoriya Izuku. Nice to meet you-”

Someone else walks in, looking at them both with glee.

“It’s you two! Ah, I’m so happy! I’m Uraraka Ochaco,” The girl says.

Midoriya seems flustered and everyone is distracted by them or by their own conversations that no one notices his dad lying on the floor in his sleeping bag. Kakashi makes eye contact with his dad before looking away to let the man do what he wants to do.

“If you’re here to prioritize socializing, then you’re wasting your time,”

Not even looking at Shouta, Tenya wastes no time getting to his seat as Midoriya and Uraraka freeze and look at his dad in surprise. Kakashi is happy to be wearing his mask. It makes hiding his emotions easier because he would not be able to resist smiling at his dad, even if he is in teaching mode.

“This is the hero course, so I expect you all to be in your seats on time,” Shouta says as he starts getting up and unzips his sleeping bag while Midoriya and Uraraka rush to their seats.

“In heroism, time is an important thing to be aware of. Keep that in mind,” He continues before walking to the podium.

“I’m your homeroom and heroics teacher, Aizawa Shouta. Pleased to meet you all,” He introduces himself before reaching into his sleeping bag to pull out a UA gym shirt, “Everyone should have their gym clothes in your desks. Grab those and follow me. We’re going to one of the school grounds,”

Listening to their homeroom teacher, everyone grabs their gym clothes and follows Shouta until they are outside the locker rooms.

“Girls go to the left and boys to the right. If there is any reason for any of you to feel uncomfortable changing in front of others, please let me know at the end of the day,” Shouta says, looking over everyone before walking towards the grounds.

Everyone starts going into the locker rooms, though Kakashi notices Itachi at the back of the group. He waits for the guy so they can walk in together, and Itachi seems relieved that he did. Kakashi lets the other teen lead, immediately going to a far corner of the locker room and wasting no time to change.

Kakashi doesn’t question it, and one glance at the binder he’s wearing, as well as the insane scarring on his back gives Kakashi the answer to his curiosities. He makes sure to change in front of Itachi at an angle where no one else would be able to see his body well, and they are the first to head out to the grounds where Shouta is waiting.

“No one gave you trouble, Uchiha-kun?” Shouta asks when they’re close enough.

“No, sir. Kakashi-kun helped me out,” Itachi replies.

“Call me Aizawa-sensei or just Sensei when we’re at UA,” Shouta corrects him before looking at Kakashi, “Try not to hold back so much, Kakashi. I have to treat everyone fairly, even if you’re my brat,”

Itachi looks between them, realization dawning in his eyes.

“Yup. I have two dads in this lifetime,” Kakashi says, watching as Itachi’s eyes widen a fraction, “He knows, by the way. So do Yamada Hitoshi and Iida Tenya,” Itachi seems relieved at that, his wings twitching.

“Can I?” Kakashi asks as he inches closer to Itachi’s wings.

“Go ahead. Just be gentle, please,” Itachi replies, turning his back towards the other teen before flexing his wings.

Shouta resists the urge to raise a brow at the light blush on Itachi’s cheeks.

When Kakashi touches the ends of his left wing, they both twitch slightly before relaxing.

Kakashi can’t help but run his fingers through the soft feathers, in awe at how stunning Itachi’s wings are. As much as he wants to continue, he doesn’t want to make the teen uncomfortable, so he stops and goes to stand next to him.

A few seconds later, they see more students coming towards them, and Hitoshi and Tenya stand by the two.

“Yamada Hitoshi. Nice to meet you,” Hitoshi tells Itachi as they walk up, getting a nod.

“Uchiha Itachi, and likewise,” Hitoshi nods at that.

Within 8 minutes, all 20 students are out on the field and Shouta looks at them all once again with an unimpressed look on his face.

“Next time, be ready within 5 minutes. Now that you’re all here, I’ll be conducting a quirk assessment,”

Murmurs break out all around them at the announcement.

“But what about the entrance ceremony?” Uraraka questions.

“I find it to be a waste of time,” Shouta easily answers, “UA is known for its freestyle education system, which also applies to us teachers as well. Instead of sitting through the entrance ceremony, you will all be doing standard gym tests with your quirks,” He continues explaining with a bored and yet serious tone before looking over at Kakashi.

Here we go.

“Kamihara, how far could you throw in middle school?”

“71 meters,” Kakashi easily answers.

“Great,” Shouta says before tossing him a ball, which Kakashi easily catches, “Try it with your quirk. Do whatever you want. Just stay inside that circle,” He explains before pointing Kakashi to the circle on the ground.

Grinning behind his mask, Kakashi nods, quickly deciding to use a powerful wind blast and throwing it. Whispers break out behind him, and he looks at Shouta expectantly, the man looking back at him until the device in his hand beeps. Showing the class the result of 710.7 meters, gasps sound as Kakashi walks back to his friends.

“It’s important to not only know your strengths as well as your limits. That’s the first rational step to figuring out what kind of heroes you’ll be,” Shouta says.

“Woah,”

“This is awesome!”

“710 meters? Seriously?”

“That was impressive,” Itachi whispers to him.

“Thanks,” Kakashi whispers back.

“We can use our quirks!! This is so fun!”

Kakashi sees the change in his dad’s eyes, knowing exactly what’s about to happen over that comment.

“Fun, you say?”

At that, everyone quiets down.

“You’re hoping to become heroes after three years here, and you think it’ll all be fun and games?” Suddenly, Shouta gives them one of his shit-eating grins, “Let’s make this fun, then. The one with the lowest score overall will be expelled,”

“What?”

“Seriously?”

“No way!”

“That’s so unfair!” Kakashi hears Uraraka exclaim.

“Natural disasters, rampaging villains, highway pileups. Calamity can happen unexpectedly at any time. Life can be unfair, and heroes are the ones who do their best to correct all of that unfairness,” Shouta rebuttals, making the protests die down.

“If you thought these next three years will be easy, you are sorely mistaken. UA will run you through the wringer,” The hero continues, straightening up to look at his students challengingly, “That’s Plus Ultra. Use your strength to overcome it all,”

Kakashi looks around to see everyone more determined, so he starts cracking his fingers.

“Welcome to the hero course at UA. Let’s get started,”

Glancing far off to the nearby building, he wonders how many people will notice All Might watching them.

~~

50 Meter Dash

Kakashi feels himself grin when he’s put up against Itachi.

“Just so you know, your brother isn’t as fast as me,” Kakashi tells the other teen.

“I’ll have you know, I wasn’t born with these wings like he was,” Itachi replies before readying himself to go.

Kakashi raises a brow at that, but does the same. Once they get the signal, they both meet each other at the end of the track. Narrowing eyes at each other, they look at the bot, the word “ERROR” flashing on its screen.

Shouta comes over to them with a sigh.

“…you both moved faster than the bot can register,” he says, getting a groan from Kakashi and a slightly disappointed look from Itachi.

Grip Test

Kakashi decided to use his raw strength, getting 63kg. Looking over at Hitoshi, the two share a high five when they see that the taller of the two broke his previous record with 53kg. When Kakashi glances at Itachi, he got 60kg, and Tenya got 75kg.

“I’m trained for speed,” Itachi says with a shrug, making Kakashi’s grin drop as he remembers that the teen is with the HPSC.

Standing Long Jump

Kakashi was able to pass this easily, so Hitoshi jumped on his back and used his quirk to make Kakashi do the jump for him. Since Kakashi has long since gotten used to Hitoshi’s quirk, he has yet to have an adverse reaction to it if he’s warned beforehand. When he’s broken out of the quirk’s hold, they fistbump.

“As expected from the recommended student,” Kakashi teases, making Hitoshi roll his eyes.

“Oh, that must’ve been where I recognized you from. I passed through the recommendation exam as well,” Itachi points out, making Hitoshi raise a brow.

“Weird. I thought UA usually chooses one girl and one guy per hero course,” A red-haired classmate says.

Kakashi stays silent as more conversation starts, watching as Itachi turns away from the conversation with a carefully crafted neutral expression. If he had to guess, considering that Japan’s views on trans people are… not the best, maybe Itachi can only go so far with transitioning. He’s clearly presenting as a guy, uses a binder and all, but officially..?

Kakashi puts a comforting hand on his shoulder, getting a small, grateful nod from Itachi before Shouta calls for the next test.

Side-Stepping

Kakashi thinks he did pretty decently, as did most everyone else. Seeing Midoriya in clear dismay, he can’t help but inch towards him.

“Hey, Midoriya,”

The teen flinches before looking at him and nervously smiling.

“You’re doing alright. Don’t worry too much, and keep doing your best,” Kakashi encourages.

“Thank y-you…”

“Kamihara Kakashi,”

“Thank you, Kamihara-kun. I’m Midoriya Izuku,” He introduces himself, fidgeting.

“Nice to meet you. Let’s continue doing our best!” Kakashi tells him with a closed-eyed smile.

Ball Throwing

Since Kakashi already did it, he watches as the rest of his classmates take the test. When Tenya takes his turn, he and Hitoshi give him high fives for breaking his own record. After hearing the accomplishment, Itachi gives the teen a high five as well.

Kakashi can’t help but accept defeat when Uraraka makes the ball float away infinitely. There’s also Yaoyorozu Momo, who creates a machine from her body to launch the ball pretty far as well. Everyone in his class has interesting quirks as far as Kakashi can tell.

Then, it’s the rude blond’s turn, who Shouta called Bakugou earlier. A wide, almost murderous grin stretches across his face as he launches the ball with an explosion , all while screaming “Die!” at the same time. That display doesn’t get him over Kakashi’s record though, and he can’t help but look at the teen smugly when he gets glared at.

Itachi decides to be cheeky and send the ball with one of his feathers, already walking away as Shouta announces the result: 1,000 meters.

“Nice one, showoff,” Kakashi teases.

“Oh? Did my performance make the great Kakashi insecure? You know what that sounds like?” Itachi asks him before leaning close, “A skill issue,”

Kakashi flicks his forehead, getting an amused chuckle from the winged teen.

“Are you two done flirting yet? It’s gross,”

“Flirting?!” “Huh?” Itachi and Kakashi say at the same time, the former looking away to hide his blush before saying “that’s not what that was,” while Kakashi just glares at Hitoshi. Hitoshi just smirks at him but Kakashi looks away in time for it to be Midoriya’s turn.

“Midoriya has been struggling,” Tenya says worriedly.

“Of course he is,” Bakugou snorts, “He’s a quirkless runt!”

“Did you not hear about his feat during the practical exam?” Tenya asks in surprise.

“Oh, wow, why am I surprised? Oh wait, I’m not. Are you done yet?” Hitoshi snaps at Bakugou, “You can’t be an asshole and also be dumb. Pick a struggle,”

Tenya looks like he wants to scold Hitoshi, but decides against it and looks at Bakugou’s fuming figure instead.

“I believe what he’s trying to say is that Midoriya isn’t quirkless. You didn’t hear about what he did during the entrance exams?”

“Hah?! The fuck are you on about?!”

“Just watch,” Kakashi says as Midoriya gets ready to throw the ball.

Maybe he won’t break all of his limbs this time? Kakashi hopes, watching as the teen’s arm lights up.

But right before he throws the ball, Shouta activates his quirk.

“Ah, he’s Eraserhead,” Itachi mumbles to himself.

“I erased your quirk,” Shouta tells the clearly confused teen as he approaches Midoriya.

“You were marked as one of our red flags after the entrance exam, and I’m sure there’s no need for you to guess why,” the erasure hero starts, his hair waving around before he closes his eyes.

“You clearly don’t know how to regulate your quirk, and you almost incapacitated yourself again. There are still more tests to do, so what would you do in those with a broken arm?” He asks the teen with a serious expression.

“I-It’s not like that…”

“But it is,” Shouta replies, “You can’t be a hero with that quirk of yours. Not until you learn to regulate it and avoid hurting yourself so severely. Now go ahead and try again,” Shouta says before giving him another ball and walking away.

Kakashi wonders if he can help the guy with his quirk. It’s as if he was never able to use it until recently. It reminds him all too well of Naruto in the early days.

“What was Aizawa-sensei saying to him?” Hitoshi asks Kakashi, knowing he could hear the conversation.

“Just some advice,”

“Yeah, advice on how to leave the school,” Bakugou grumbles.

Who pissed in his food this morning? Kakashi thinks while rolling his eyes.

Midoriya readies himself to throw the ball again, and this time, he sends it flying in a powerful blast. Everyone is in awe and surprised that he did it, but Kakashi can see him trembling in pain despite his arm being intact. That’s when Kakashi notices his purple finger, and he looks at his dad, who is looking at Midoriya with wide eyes and a small grin.

They exchange a few words to each other, but Kakashi doesn’t hear with Bakugou breathing heavily and his jaw dropped.

Did he really believe Midoriya’s quirkless? No, there’s missing context in all of this. Kakashi decides.

“What the hell?!” He shrieks before using his quirk to close the distance between him and Midoriya.

Kakashi narrows his eyes before speeding to shield Midoriya, ready to protect him as Itachi sends feathers to help.

“Explain yourself, Deku!!”

Before he could reach them, Itachi’s feathers attach to his clothes and push him back as Shouta uses his capture weapon and quirk to stop the blond. Despite that, Bakugou is still attempting to approach Midoriya, who is shaking like a leaf behind Kakashi. While Shouta deals with the blond, Kakashi turns around and puts his hands on Midoriya’s shoulders.

“You’re okay,” he reassures softly, watching as Midoriya nods despite still shaking.

Taking his injured hand in his, Kakashi looks at it carefully, “I can heal this, if you want,”

“Y-You can?” Midoriya stutters, confused but clearly intrigued.

“Mhm. Let’s go back with everyone else and I’ll have your finger healed up,” Kakashi tells him before letting go of his hand and walking back.

The green-haired teen follows closely behind until they’re back with Kakashi’s friends, who all not so subtly surround Midoriya to block Bakugou from reaching him. Meanwhile, Kakashi takes his hand again, carefully cradling his injured finger before using his quirk. After a conversation with Recovery Girl regarding how her quirk works and how his energy manipulation could possibly do something similar, Kakashi has been practicing healing.

The only drawback is that it consumes his own energy by a lot, so he can only use it sparingly or for minor injuries. A broken finger is more than a minor injury, but Kakashi doesn’t mind. Within 10 seconds, Midoriya’s finger is completely healed, and Kakashi yawns.

“Woah, thank you! C-Could I ask you questions about your quirk whenever y-you have time?” Midoriya asks shyly, getting a nod from Kakashi.

Ignoring the confused talk about him, he looks at his dad and nods slightly to let him know he’s fine.

“Alright, let’s move onto the next test, everyone,”

Itachi nudges Kakashi with one of his wings and smiles.

“You’re as amazing as ever, Kakashi,”

“Says the guy with the literal wings,”

Long Distance Run

Kakashi and Itachi tie for first place, both teens complaining when the results are such. Shouta can only sigh as they start bantering, using his capture weapon to hide his smile. He can tell Kakashi finds comfort in finding someone from his past life, but he can’t help but wonder a few things.

Besides Obito, are there others who survived and were never reported?

Sit-ups

Everyone does a pretty decent job, though it was amusing to watch Itachi’s wings grow smaller and smaller as he directs his feathers to the ground next to him.

“So, are you connected to each feather?” Kakashi asks as he holds Itachi’s feet down.

“Yeah,” Itachi answers during one of his sit-ups.

As if proving a point, Itachi makes a few of his feathers circle Kakashi as he continues his sit-ups.

“Do you think they had feelings for each other before?” Hitoshi whispers to Tenya.

Tenya shakes his head.

“I’m pretty sure Kashi-kun mentioned being an adult when Uchiha joined the Anbu as a child,” The teen whispers back, making Hitoshi look at him with an indescribable expression.

“…do you think Uchiha had feelings for him but never pursued them due to their age gap?”

Tenya looks at him scandalized before looking away.

“I am no longer going to entertain your outrageous theories,”

Hitoshi groans in fake despair.

Seated toe touches

Surprisingly, there are not many people who can comfortably reach for their feet or go beyond that. Kakashi can do it with ease, as well as Itachi, Tenya, Hitoshi, Yaoyorozu, Ashido, Todoroki, and a few others.

After that, all the tests are done and Shouta directs them to the building where he has a projector set up.

“Time for the results,” Shouta starts, his eyes sweeping over everyone, clicking his remote.

“Your total scores simply reflect your performance in each of the tests. Explaining the process is a waste of time, so all you’re getting are the final ranks. By the way…” Shouta trails off before grinning, “I was lying about expelling someone,”

“Huh?” Multiple people respond.

“It was a rational deception to bring the best out of you all,”

“WHAAAAAAT?!” Many of their classmates, including Midoriya, respond.

“I thought it was obvious he was lying,” Yaoyorozu says, but Kakashi disagrees.

His dad wasn’t lying about expelling someone. Everyone did their best so he has no need to expel anyone is all. But Kakashi doesn’t voice that and instead puts a hand on Midoriya’s shoulder.

“See? You just needed to do your best and you did,”

“Yeah, but I’m at the bottom…” he replies dejectedly.

“UA is here to help us become better versions of ourselves. Who knows? You might end up at the top by the end of the school year,”

Before Midoriya can respond, Shouta speaks again.

“Now that you’ve all seen the results, go back to the locker rooms to change and head to the classroom. There are documents about the curriculum there,” The man informs them before walking off.

To make sure Bakugou doesn’t dare to approach Midoriya, Tenya starts a conversation with him and Hitoshi joins all the way to the locker rooms. Kakashi and Itachi change in the corner from before, but quickly join them after. Kakashi knows better than to question why anyone would want to bully someone as sweet as Midoriya.

Some people just grow to be shaped as assholes, so Kakashi hopes UA does something to the explosive blond to change. At least, before Bakugou does something to get expelled from the school like during the ball throw.

Shouta sighs when he turns the corner to see Yagi in his All Might form, wearing a ridiculous striped yellow suit.

“Aizawa! You big fat liar!” He says with his signature smile.

“Wanna explain why you were spying on my class instead of being at the entrance ceremony, All Might?” Shouta asks him, internally groaning when the large man walks beside him.

“A rational deception, you said? April Fools was over a week ago,” All Might jokes, though he goes quiet when Shouta doesn’t look the slightest amused.

“You expel those you judge with 0 prospects, but that hasn’t happened this year. It’s because you see potential in young Midoriya, right?”

Way to show your favoritism. Shouta thinks before looking away from the man.

“If Midoriya receives the help this school is equipped to give, he has a chance. If he had no chance, I would expel him without hesitation. There’s nothing crueler than letting someone chase unattainable dreams,” Shouta says before looking at him, “So, how do you know the kid?”

All Might sputters before clearing his throat.

“If you want to be subtle with your connection to a student, start with not singling them out, or reacting like that when someone notices. You’re too obvious, All Might, and I won’t stand for someone training to be a teacher to have such blatant favoritism,”

“I’m that obvious, huh…” All Might mutters before nodding, “Of course, Aizawa-san,”

At that, Shouta just nods before he keeps walking away.

This is going to be a long school year. He grumbles mentally.

Yagi watches the man disappear into the building, letting his smile drop slightly.

I never got to ask more about his son. He thinks, feeling unsure about the friendship forming between Izuku and Kamihara.

The man didn’t know what to think when he saw the practical exams and the review for his entrance to UA. Aizawa may have explained it as an elaborate energy manipulation, but the sinking feeling in his gut about what he saw hasn’t gone away. The speed, the strength he possesses, that display of control can’t simply be energy manipulation.

Yagi can’t help but be reminded of All For One. Maybe he could contact Naomasa about All For One’s connections and if any progress has been made. Even after he killed the demon, they’ve had little to no luck on tracking down his resources and all of his connections, after all.

Notes:

Hey everyone, first thing I want to get out of the way for those who haven't watched or aren't that familiar with Naruto, the Sharingan is both a type of jutsu and an ability passed down a bloodline, namely the Uchiha clan. It is pretty much exclusive to them, and a very powerful thing to have even at it's base.

Now that I explained that, I am glad to finally get this updated! This chapter has been slowly edited and just in my docs for far too long. Life is life. I moved pretty much across the country, got a new job, and have been slowly but surely adjusting. That being said, I will continue doing my best to update and hopefully not only update once a year lol. I hope everyone is doing well, and I'm excited to see what yall have to say about this chapter ^^ until next time!
