Chapter Text
“Hello beauties! I’m Merry Marisol, and this is my YouTube Channel,” Marisol Lewis-Goldsworthy announced cheerfully into the cameras set up around her makeup studio, “For today’s video, I’m going to show you guys how to do a basic makeup look…with my husband Eli as my model!”
She gestured towards Eli, who was sitting next to her with an unenthusiastic look on his face.
“I’m being forced to do this against my own will by the way,” he quipped dryly, only for his wife to ignore him. He couldn’t say it on camera but the only reason why he agreed to do this video was because Marisol promised some very interesting bedroom activities involving whips and chains for them tonight. His wife brought out a bottle of facial cleanser.
“First, hydrating facial cleanser. The first step towards a perfectly made up is a clean face,” Marisol declared as she squirted a dime-sized portion of the cleanser onto her fingers. Then she slowly spread it all over Eli’s face as he looked towards the cameras. Then she took out a bottle of facial moisturizer. “Next, you’re gonna wanna put some moisturizer on your face,” she directed as she applied that next to his face. Eli’s face was looking smooth and shiny, which was the effect she wanted to achieve.
When it was time to teach the audience how to apply foundation, Marisol started by squirting some of the liquid onto his knuckles while explaining the importance of finding the right shade to the audience. The shade she was using perfectly matched his skin tone which both amused and impressed him. “So this is why you had me in Sephora with you last week,” he realized while raising his eyebrow.
“I needed to have the right materials for this tutorial,” she reasoned.
“What other things are you plotting against me?” He questioned in concern. She snickered as she applied the foundation to his face in various spots. She then took out a wet rainbow makeup sponge.
“Some people use the brush which is totally fine, but I’m a sponge girlie. To me, it blends the foundation in better and gives it more coverage across the face,” Marisol argued while blending. After she was done with that, she used finishing powder on his face that also perfectly matched his skin tone. When she pulled out a peach colored blush to apply to his cheeks, he grimaced in a way that was only halfway playful. She smirked as she dusted his cheeks with the blush. Then she filled in his eyebrows with a pencil.
The way she explained her methods was so thorough and skillful that it pleased Eli to hear as much as he was pretending on camera that he was hating every minute of it. He was confident in believing that no one on this planet knew makeup better than his wife. This was her craft along with acting. As different as their interests were, a big reason why he fell for her in high school was because he respected her passion for what she loved. The next thing she did was bring out a set of eyeshadow palettes.
“Knowing which shade of eyeshadow to go with for the day can be difficult, but with me, I go with what’s going to look best with my outfit. My husband here is wearing all black right now so I’m gonna go with black eyeshadow,” she announced before carefully dusting his eyelids with the palette, “Eli used to have the scariest emo phase in high school so this is perfect for him.”
“I’m still scary,” he quipped.
“Finally, my favorite part of applying makeup: lipgloss!” She announced while pulling out a tube of light pink lip gloss. “If your lips aren’t looking cute then throw the whole makeup look away!” She warned dramatically as she smoothly applied the gloss to Eli’s lips.
“When it comes to lip gloss that’s so easy to come off, you’re gonna want something that’s super water proof or just stays on strongly. Let’s test out how strong this brand of lipgloss is,” she directed before giving her husband a quick kiss on his lips, surprising him. But the gloss on his lips remained intact, proving its durability. “See, it’s definitely kiss proof,” she remarked as they gazed flirtatiously at each other for a second. Then she sprayed his face with setting spray.
“In ten minutes, I achieved a perfect look for beginners using my husband, who looks cuteeeeee,” Marisol said with a squeal at the end. “Don’t you think you look gorgeous, baby?”
Eli scowled into the camera in response.
“When you see me do it, applying makeup doesn’t seem so hard now, does it?” She boasted confidently as she continued talking. “I’m Merry Marisol, and you just finished watching my latest makeup video. Be sure to like and subscribe,” she said before her and Eli waved farewell to the cameras. Then she turned the cameras off.
“Can’t wait to see how this affects my intimidating reputation among my peers,” he said sarcastically.
“You were never intimidating, Emo Boy. Especially with that eyeliner you used to wear all of the time in high school,” she teased. He still wore eyeliner from time to time, either for Halloween costumes or when they were going to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando. She reached out and lightly caressed his chin as she studied how good his face was looking right now. The makeup was making his more unique features stand out. “You know, you actually look so pretty with makeup,” she purred.
“Probably not as pretty as you,” he argued.
“Maybe you’re right about that,” she agreed, making them both chuckle, “But seriously, thank you for doing this, Emo Bear. You’re the best husband ever,” she complimented gratefully. She was so happy to be married to a man who was so supportive of her career even if it wasn’t to his tastes for the most part. Eli supported her because he loved her so passionately, and that’s why he was the only man for her.
“You and those beautiful dimples of yours can make me do anything, Princess,” Eli replied, and they kissed lovingly. It was a warm, sweet moment between them.
“Now get the makeup remover,” he commanded next bluntly.
