Chapter Text

7th July 1988

The sun was shining brightly on 7th July 1988, and as I walked down the aisle, stopping only briefly to give Amy, who was being held by Lee, a kiss. I felt like I had succeeded in life.

I had a lovely house, a gorgeous daughter and a loving husband.

Or I would have in a matter of minutes, anyway.

Richard was waiting for me at the end of the aisle, and he looked extremely dapper in his freshly tailored suit, a wide smile on his face and beautiful blue eyes open wide as I made my way through the church.

The priest smiled at me as I got to Richard, who took my hands in both of his. He was beaming, his eyes brimming with tears.

"You look beautiful." He mouthed to me.

I mouthed "thank you" back at him and then took one of his hands and put it on my belly, where our next child was growing. In five months, we would be welcoming a new child into the world.

We couldn't wait.

At Christmas, I had agreed to stay with Amy and Richard, and had never looked back on it. At first, it had been nothing more than a platonic relationship, but by the end of February, Richard and I were regularly enjoying each other's bodies once more... and then in the middle of March, we had found out that I was pregnant again.

And Richard's first three children had become regular visitors to the house - and they all adored Amy - Lee, especially. She doted on the little girl even more so than her two older brothers did, and had promised that she would babysit whenever we needed her to.

The priest spoke and we went through our vows, which were the traditional ones  - we had debated writing our own, but had very quickly decided that we wanted everything to be done as traditionally as possible, since in no way had we been a traditional couple. We'd started off as teacher and student, and then gone to something akin to dom/sub, before very quickly welcoming a baby into the world together, and all of that had happened in the space of eleven months - 1987 had been a crazy year.

"I now pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss your bride." Richard did, and the photographer that we had hired snapped a few shots of us both before I turned to Lee and gestured for her, Zak and Jason to join us, as well as little Amy, of course. They all came and stood with us, Lee at my side and Zak and Jason with their father. The photographer snapped another photo.

Paul and George were next; each coming up with their wives and having a photo done before they posed for one of me, Richard and themselves - which would be released to the media tomorrow to go with the spread of our wedding. The wives rejoined us with the children, and I took Amy from Lee, holding her up to the camera as Lee, Jason and Zak got into the photograph as well. We took some more; mostly of Amy and Richard and me, before we drifted outside to rejoin our guests.

Everybody was happy and sipping at flutes of champagne; we hadn't even reached the venue, yet!

Linda and George came up behind me, cleverly separating me from Richard whilst he talked to Paul, Olivia, and Mary McCartney.

"That was a beautiful ceremony!" Linda exclaimed as she took Amy from me, cuddling and kissing her. Amy laughed and giggled and settled into Linda's arms very quickly. She loved Linda - she loved Paul and Olivia and George too, but Linda was very good with her. "You looked beautiful - Ritchie did too, of course, but you were beaming up there!"

I smiled at her, "thanks, Lin." I turned to George, "you're not going to tell me I looked fat, are you?"

"You looked pregnant." He answered in a teasing tone.

I giggled and swatted his arm.

"Nah," he said, "I'm joking, you know that. You looked gorgeous. You still do, though up close, your lipstick's a bit smudged -"
"Blame your friend for that one." I teased him, knowing how he squirmed whenever I mentioned what Richard and I did in public despite the fact that he had watched me with that other girl, Jean, at that party so many months ago.

It felt like another lifetime, actually.

So much had happened since then.

But, given the change to do it all over again, I wouldn't have changed a thing.
