"eyy knucklehead!" Sonic yelled as he dropped onto the grass of the angel
bored he decided to go mess with the echidna, and always knew where to find him
on the stairs grumpy with his arms crossed
however the echidna didn't respond, but that was per usual
"aww come on buddy, what's got ya down? rouge steal the ME again" Sonic continued to joke, coming close to sit with the echidna, only for the red mobian to stand up and took a step away for a distance
now sonic couldn't help but notice that, he liked his space but he wasn't usually this morbid about it
"leave sonic" Knuckles whispered
Sonic stood up, fully facing the echidna, the cockiness in his attitude dropping lightly
"Why should I?" sonic asked
"Because I want you to leave, I am done with you, all of you" Knuckles explained with a straight face
"us? what do you mean?" Sonic questioned, the humour in his voice completely disappearing, not understanding where this was coming from
"I don't want to see any of you again, so please get off my island" Knuckles said, not backing down
"where's this coming from?!" Sonic demanded
"past experience, all leading to up to the point where I can't take it anymore" the guardian explained emotionally
"don't you think you're being dramatic" Sonic sighed, unable to have his carefree attitude completely disappearing
that seemed to cause the echidna to be finished with the conversation
"Just leave!" the echidna demanded as he pointed over his island
sonic was now starting to panic
"you call me stupid, call me these names and laugh in my face, only care about me when you want something from me, and I am done being used" Knuckles whispered tearfully
"no knux please, I don't want you to be mad at us, just tell us how to fix it" sonic begged
a moment and a cold breeze flew before the echidna answered the hedgehog's question for the very last time
"get off my island and never come back"
sonics heart could be heard breaking
"knuckles, come on, I'm not going anywhere, nothing too broken, we can-" Sonic trembled
but knuckles simply ignored the hedgehog and walked away
....
"Hey! stop, talk to me!" sonic demanded angrily
every day he would come to the island just to pester the echidna
but the guardian never mutter a word
"knuckles! you can't ignore me forever"
"you can't ignore us forever, what about tails, Amy, rouge! the chaotixs! stop being so stupid and see how much we need you"
but the echidna continued silent
he knew if he got into a fight with the blue hedgehog he'd most likely express his feelings and allow him back in
allowing him to push him further, and he was too tired to deal with all that drama
"Please knuckles, please don't shut me out, you're my closest friend, even closer, I, I can't" sonic begged, now on his feet as he clung to the echidna
all the others had given up years ago, but sonic would always come back
but every time Knuckles merely looked away and didn't utter a word
the only sound was sonics crying in the distance
