Chapter Text
It’s been a week since Emmy opened up about being bullied, and felt so much better about it. She has been learning to have more open and honest conversations with her brothers and Alyssa.
One beautiful Saturday afternoon, the hospital was unusually quiet. Will and Jay were stuck at work, and Emmy was with Alyssa at a park for a day out. It was a slow day for Will and the rest of the staff at Med. He thought he could get off early, relieve his sister’s nanny, and he would spend time with his sister. Before he could get a break and check on his sister, Maggie called out.
“Alright, everyone, there was a shooting at Lincoln Park; we got traumas and more coming in! Let’s move people! Ambulances are minutes out! Let’s move!” Maggie's urgent call echoed through the hospital, sending a shiver down everyone's spine.
Will’s heart had stopped, and his blood ran cold. The thought of Alyssa and Emmy being at the park during such a crisis was unbearable. He pulled out his phone with a shaky hand and called Alyssa’s number.
“Pick up, please pick up,” He muttered as the phone rang.
“ Hi, this is Alyssa. I'm sorry I can’t reach you on the phone right now. Leave me a message, and I’ll get back to you.” Alyssa’s voicemail came on the phone.
“Alyssa, it’s Will. Please call me back and let me know if you and Emmy are alright. Call me or Jay, please.” Will spoke into the phone and left a message.
He hung up and called Emmy’s phone; he was bouncing his leg frantically as he heard the sirens from the ambulances pulling up.
“Come on, Emmy, pick up. Please answer your phone,” Will's voice trembled with fear as he pleaded with his sister to pick up.
“ Hey, it’s Emmy! I'm sorry, but I can’t make it to the phone. Leave a message, and I’ll call you back!” Emmy’s voicemail came on the phone.
“Emmy, please call me or Jay and let us know you're alright. I love you, sweetheart,” Will's voice was filled with love and concern as he left a message on the phone.
“Will!” Maggie called for him. “You're needed, treatment 3.”
Will was trying to call his brother to look for Alyssa and Emmy; he hadn’t heard Maggie calling him until she went to him.
“Will, hey, what’s going on?” Maggie asked. “You didn’t hear me?”
“Alyssa, she took Emmy to Lincoln Park today,” Will told Maggie shakily. “I’m trying to call them both, but all I’m getting is their voicemails. I’m trying to call Jay to see if he knows anything or may know where Alyssa and Emmy are.”
“I’ll call Jay. Let’s focus on the patients now. If I hear anything, I'll let you know.”
“Could you check other hospitals? See if Alyssa or Emmy have been brought in?”
“I will do everything I can. You get to treatment three and work on your patient, and I’ll start making calls.”
“Thank you, Mags.”
“Not a problem, go save lives.”
Will nodded and went to the treatment room. Maggie pulled her phone out and called Jay.
“Jay, it’s Maggie. Listen, I’m not sure if you heard there was a shooting at Lincoln Park; Alyssa and Emmy might be missing.”
