Chapter 1: "Rules are meant to be broken"

Chapter Text

"So what exactly was the plan here? Break a criminal out of prison, then what, you were just going to trust him to help you?" John snapped at Bucky, Zemo and Sam, all at various stages of annoyance at the man- who the hell did he think he was- at least they were trying to do something unlike Walker who thought carrying around a glorified frisbee was good enough.
"You know there are rules you have to follow, you can't just do whatever the hell you like." He fumed, Sam had to fight the urge not to roll his eyes, whereas Bucky had to fight the urge not to punch John in his smug face. Zemo at this point had given up and stopped listening.

Bucky scoffed, "rules are meant to be broken." 'Especially if it will piss you off' he thought childishly, he's not sure he could hate Walker any more than he already did, he doesn't think that it is actually possible to hate the man more, every time he speaks, Bucky thinks 'you know what, maybe Thanos had a point'.

"They were made to be followed, nothing is made to be broken." Walker snapped, getting more frustrated with the three of them- particularly Bucky. He swears they were being like this purely for the sake of pissing him off.

"Uh piñatas." Bucky states as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.

"Glow sticks." Sam adds with a smirk on his face in satisfaction at the annoyed look on Walker's face.

"Karate boards." Bucky continued.

"Spaghetti when the pot is too small." Zemo piped up, speaking for the first time since John went on his 'I'm better than everyone because I follow the rules' rant.

"Rules" Bucky reiterated. At this point John left the room without a word- he was beyond done with the three of them.

"Well, I don't think he agrees with us." Joked Bucky after Walker left. Sam let out a laugh, they found the situation way too amusing, after all it was too easy to wind up Walker, and at least they were doing something to resolve the current situation- even if that did mean breaking a few rules.

Chapter 2: BONE

Summary:

"Whatever this argument is isn't the problem, you and Tony are spending too much time apart. You two just need to bone."

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Tony and Stephen had barely seen each other the past few weeks, Stephen had been busy with sorcerer stuff and Tony was busy with the release of a new Stark Industries product so they had very little time to see each other, and what time they did have was rarely spent alone.

Peter and Harley noticed a change in Stephen and Tony's moods after a while- they were angrier and snappier- seemingly getting frustrated with everything. They also seemed to be arguing over every little thing whenever they were together. Peter put this down to both of them being under large amounts of stress at the moment, for various reasons- and not being able to spend enough time together, however, Harley had a different idea about what the problem was...

Stephen walked into Peter and Harley's lab as they were working, complaining to himself about Tony and some petty argument they were having- yet another one- they swear it was the 8th that week.

"Whatever this argument is isn't the problem, you and Tony are spending too much time apart. You two just need to bone." Harley stated plainly. Peter let out a shock noise, something between a gasp and a whimper, a look of what could be described as fear or dread, maybe both, spread on his face.

"What did you say?" Stephen asked incredulously.

"Don't say it again." Whispered Peter desperately.

"I said you two need to bone." Harley stated with a blank expression, despite the reaction from both Peter and Stephen. Peter let out another whimper, preparing for Stephen's reaction.

"How dare you Harley Keener?" Exclaimed Stephen in a disbelieving tone- neither could quite decipher the look on his face, sort of a mix between rage, annoyance and disbelief. Harley just looked at him blankly whereas Peter had a pained expression etched onto his face. Stephen went on about a five minute rant, all whilst Harley remained expressionless and Peter wanted the ground to swallow him whole.

"BONE!" Stephen yelled loudly that the two people who happened to walk by heard him. He was practically vibrating on the spot with what appeared to be rage that Harley would say such a thing. "What happens in my bedroom, Harley, is none of your business." He snaps. 'Oh how I wish Thanos were here' Peter thought to himself.

"BONE." He shouted again, after about a further 20 minutes of ranting. Peter had taken a seat on one of the chairs and was rocking lightly, praying it would be over soon. A further forty minutes later he finally stopped. At this point Peter had his arms folded on the desk and his head rested on them, Harley just looked unamused. "Don't ever speak to me like that again." He said before portalling out of the room.

Peter breathed a sigh of relief when he finally left, he lifted his head from off his arms.

"Why did you do that?" Questioned Peter, his voice weary and a look of despair on his face.

"He was pent up, now he knows." Harley shrugged casually as if they hadn't just been ranted to for what seemed like an eternity by a very angry sorcerer. But, it wasn't like Harley was wrong. When they next saw Stephen a couple of says later he was in a good mood.

"Is your fight with Tony over?" Peter asked hopefully.

"Yep." Stephen responded casually as he continued to gather some of the things he needed from in the living room.

"Because you solved your argument!" Peter exclaimed, partially questioning.

"Nope." Is all Stephen said.

"Because you guys-" Harley began before Stephen answered with a swift 'yep' before leaving the room.

"Knew it." Harley smirked. He went to turn away from Peter, before quickly turning back.

"You see what happened is your dads had sex." Harley said, leaning nearer to peter.

"Okay Harley." Peter said uncomfortably before darting away from him. That was not something he ever wanted to be told, or think about- ever- about the people he sees as his father-figures.

Chapter 3: "You just called Tony 'dad'"

Summary:

Peter accidently calls Tony 'dad'

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

"Thanks dad." Peter said casually, without even thinking or realising what he had said. The room went silent as everyone realised that Peter had called Tony dad- it was obvious that Peter saw him as a father figure, and Tony saw him as a son, but neither of them had actually said anything before. Tony couldn't hide the grin on his face. Everyone stared at Peter, in surprise at what he had said.

"Why is everyone staring at me?" Peter asked in confusion.

"You just called Tony, 'dad'." Natasha stated plainly, seemingly unamused by the situation. "You said thanks dad." She added.

"What, no I didn't!" Exclaimed Peter, trying and failing to hide his embarrassment. "I said thanks man." He added to try and convince them- not that it would ever have worked, they all heard him and Peter is a terrible liar.

"Do you see me as a father-figure Underoos?" Tony asked casually, his usual grin fixed on his face.

"No, if anything I see you as a bother figure cos you're always bothering me." Peter joked awkwardly.

"Hey, show your father some respect." Steve said with false anger, pretending to chastise Peter who wished more than anything he could be snapped out of existence, or have another building drop on his just to get out of this conversation.

"I didn't call him dad!" Peter insisted.

"Okay, I believe you." Tony responded. Peter looked relieved for about two seconds before Tony added 'son' after a momentary pause. He knew he was never going to live this down. Well, it was true- Peter did see Tony as a father figure, but he didn't know if Tony saw Peter as anything more than his intern so he didn't want to force that relationship onto him. Peter groaned with embarrassment as everyone laughed about the situation.

"Seriously though Pete, you're like a son to me- I thinks that's pretty obvious to anyone who's spent a minute with us, so if you want to call me 'dad' I'd be more than happy with that." Tony said seriously as well as to try and make Peter feel less embarrassed.

Peter tried to reply but all he could do was stutter, he was at a complete loss for words- for a change, normally people couldn't get him to stop talking. "Are you serious?" Peter asked, his voice about 5 octaves higher than it should have been.

"Don't look so shocked Pete, I've all but adopted you at this point, you're my son whether you like it or not." Tony shrugged casually with a soft smile on his face.

"I like that, dad." Replied Peter, a huge smile on his face.

"So does that mean I have permission to ground you, seeing as I'm your dad. And I'm officially allowed to make as many dad joke as I want. I will be the definition of embarrassing father, I'll even go to every Academic Decathlon event and cheer you on." Tony joked- well at least Peter thought he was joking, he was being 100% serious, but he was determined to be the best dad he could be to Peter- who already thought that Tony was.

Chapter 4: "I'm bisexual"

Or, the speech Jake gave to Rosa during 'games night', Bucky gives to Peter to help him come out.

Chapter Text

There had been something off about Peter for a short while but no-one knew what it was, they'd ask Peter if he was okay and assure him that he could tell them anything, but he just brushed them off and told them that he was fine- they had no choice but to go along with this as he wouldn't open up, sometimes he was a bit too much like Tony.

"Hey Pete, you doing okay?" Bucky questioned as he walked into Peter's lab. "It's just that you've not been yourself for a couple of days and I'm worried about you, we all are." He added, his voice filled with concern for the youngest Avenger. Peter did consider lying, but he needed to tell someone, he was so fed up of hiding yet he was so scared to tell the truth. However, on this occasion, Peter decided to open up, Bucky had always been there for Peter in the past, and for some reason it seemed easier to tell Bucky than it did his dad, maybe it's because he'd only know Bucky for a couple of years which made it easier for him to tell him, or maybe it was just because the insecure part of his mind was telling him that Tony would react negatively.

"I- I'm bisexual." Peter confessed, he had to admit it did feel better having finally told someone. "I want to tell Tony because I don't want to keep hiding who I am, but I'm scared." He admitted sadly. He dared to look up at Bucky and was so relieved when he saw no judgement or hatred on Bucky's face, he had a look of respect and adoration on his face.

"You have nothing to be afraid of Pete. Tony will love and support you no matter what, as do I by the way." Bucky said supportively.

"I don't even know what to say to him." Peter sighed.

"Maybe just be honest with him, tell him how you feel. You could say- dad, I'm bisexual but I'm still your son, I'm still the same person that I've always been and who I love won't change that. You raised me to be strong and confident, and I don't want to hide who I am anymore. I am bi. And I know this may come as a shock to you but it's my truth so I hope you can accept that. Maybe you see me as your little boy, but I'm grown up now and I know my own heart." Bucky said, his voice breaking at the end- something he hopes Peter won't notice. When Bucky was growing up he always knew he was attracted to men, but he had to hide that. He often thought about telling his parents, but he knew he could never. The speech he gave Peter came from his heart and is something he wished he could have told his parents yet he could never due to when he grew up.

"Damn Bucky that was-" Peter began, sounding a little taken aback by the passion in Bucky's voice and how quickly he thought of that to say.

"Sorry I got a bit to into that." Bucky tried to joke, hoping that Pete would believe that.

"Are you sure that's all that was?" Peter asked, mumbling slightly.

"What was that?" Bucky asked, pretending he didn't hear properly, which Peter knew to be a lie as Bucky had enhanced hearing like he did. He knows he could have told Peter there and then that he was bisexual, but he's so used to pretending and hiding who he is that he simply pretended not to hear what was said.

"Nothing. Anyway, thanks for the advice Bucky, it was really helpful." Said Peter truthfully, he was so glad he opened up to Bucky because he now knew what to tell Tony. The conversation he had with Bucky made him feel better about telling Tony, which he did later that evening.

"Hey dad, can I talk to you?" Peter stuttered nervously, he felt relatively okay until about five minutes ago.

"Sure what's up Underoos?" Tony replied. Peter took a deep breath, 'here goes nothing' he thought.

"I'm bi. I wanted to tell you for a while but I was way too nervous. All I could think was what if this changes things between us, what if you see me differently now? I want you to know that me being bi doesn't change who I am, I'm the same person you raised, the same person I was when I walked in the room." Peter explained, not daring to look at Tony.

"Of course nothing changes Pete, you're my son and nothing will ever change that. I will always love you, no matter what I will always support you." He said softly. Peter couldn't help the tears that began to full, he couldn't have wished for a better, more supportive dad. Tony moved over to where Peter was sat and hugged him tightly, promising to always be there for him.

When Peter saw Bucky the next day he rushed over to him excitedly to tell him that he'd come out to Tony. Bucky was thrilled for Peter and glad that it had gone so well. Peter coming out to Tony encouraged Bucky to do the same.

"Peter, you know yesterday you asked me if there was more behind the speech I gave you and I never answered? That's because there was, I'm bisexual too. I've known since I was a kid but I could never tell anyone, God knows what would have happened back then if someone had found out, or I told the wrong person." Confessed Bucky; this was the first time he'd actually spoken the words out loud and told anyone.

"That's great Bucky. Hey we should for a separate team for bisexuals only!" Peter exclaimed jokingly. Bucky grinned at Peter, of course that would be his reaction.

"You don't seem to surprised." Bucky observed, he thought after years of hiding Peter would have been more shocked.

"Well yesterday kinda gave it away because to straight person would think of that speech that quickly, and I've see the way you look at Sam. No straight dude looks at another man like that." Peter shrugged. Bucky groaned in embarrassment, was he really that obvious with Sam?
"But don't worry, I'm one hundred per cent sure Sam feels the same." Added Peter reassuringly.

"Are you sure?" Bucky sounded so unsure.

"Oh definitely. I've seen the love-sick looks and the eye-fucking that goes on when you're not looking." Peter said casually relishing in the shocked look on Bucky's face.

"Language." Bucky joked.

"But seriously, you should talk to him- you never know what might happen." 'That's what I'm afraid of Bucky thought'. He knew Peter was right though, he should talk to Sam and he was going to, if Peter can come out to Tony, then he can tell Sam how he feels.

Later that day Bucky goes to speak to Sam, he paces outside his room for about ten minutes before building up the courage to knock on the door.

"Hey Buck." Sam said with a smile on his face that melted Bucky's heart every time he saw it.

"Hey Sammy." Bucky replied matching Sam's smiled, what can he say he loved seeing Sam, especially his smile.

"I want to talk to you about something. If that's okay." Bucky stuttered out, he felt so nervous all of a sudden.

"Are you okay Buck?" Sam asked with concern.

"I like you." Bucky blurted out. "I really like you Sammy." Sam didn't respond for a few moments, in a state of disbelief over what Bucky had just told him- he was beyond thrilled that Bucky felt the same way about him. Those few moments of silence felt like an eternity for Bucky as he began to convince himself he'd ruined everything between him and Sam.

"I really like you too Buck." Sam said with a smile, much to the relief of Bucky. Later that night Bucky sent a selfie to Peter of him and Sam. Sam was asleep with his head rested on Bucky's shoulder. As much as Bucky helped Peter to come out to Tony, Peter helped Bucky just as much to be honest with Sam about how he felt. Both of them felt happier than they had been in a while.

Chapter 5: Halloween Heist

Summary:

Tony forbids Peter from going out on patrol, so Peter suggests they place a bet that if he manages to steal the plaque that reads 'Tony Stark has a heart' from Tony's lab by midnight (Halloween) then he is allowed out to patrol and Tony has to publicly state that Spider-Man is the ultimate superhero

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Tony and Peter were arguing about Peter going on patrol on Halloween (it's the day before btw). Peter got injured a few days ago but was insisting that he was fine to go out on patrol, and that he should because Halloween is one of the worst nights for crime so he should be out there being the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man he is. Tony was saying that is is the job of the police to stop crime and he's sure that they would be fine coping without him this once. He insists that Peter take more time off the heal, super-healing abilities or not, he needed the rest. Okay so maybe he was being an overprotective parent, but he didn't care- Peter was his son and he wasn't taking any risks.

"Okay how about we make a bet. Say, if I can steal the 'Tony Stark has a heart' plaque by midnight you have to let me go on patrol tomorrow night and declare publicly that I am the smartest and strongest superhero. If not I will wait an extra two weeks before going on patrol and I will clean up after everyone after training." Peter suggested, clearly making this up on the spot. Tony looked thoughtful for a moment, clearly considering the bet.

"Okay Underoos, let's do this. But neither of us can use FRIDAY to help us. We can only use her for work purposes and nothing else. We also can't use any other cameras to spy." Tony said, laying down the ground rules to which Peter agreed.

"Cannot wait to go on patrol tomorrow." Peter exclaimed.

"Cannot wait to see you have to wait another two weeks to go on patrol." Tony fired back as he left to go to his lab. There was no way Peter was winning that bet.

"Hey Clint." Peter said innocently as he walked into the living room, about 45 minutes after they began the bet. " Any idea what Tony is up to today?" He asked for no reason what so ever.

"All I know is that he has a meeting later on that Pepper is making him go on, but I don't know what time because I wasn't listening." Clint replied, he tended to zone out whenever anyone mentioned meeting as they were too boring.

"Thanks Clint you're the best." Peter exclaimed as he left the living room.

"I'm telling Tony you said that." Clint called after Peter with a grin on his face.

Tony had been in his lab the entire time since the bet had started, figuring that he could finish the upgrade he as working on before his meeting. He was adding some of the finishing touches when he noticed a large amount of dust falling from the ceiling followed by a light creaking sound.

"Peter are you in the vents." Tony said as he looked up at the ceiling.

"No." Peter muttered in response.

"So what's the plan Underoos, wait for me to go to my meeting, come down and steal the plaque?" Tony asked smirking at having caught Peter.

"Who are you talking to there's no one up here." Peter stated, which was really believable.

Tony rolled his eyes, "just so you know I'm taking the plaque and placing it in a locked safe which only I know the combination to. The safe is then locked in a cabinet and I have the only key. If that's all then I'm off to my meeting. " Tony announced, he was confident to begin with that he would win the bet, but even more so now.

"You think that worried me, I laugh in the face of adversity." Peter declared with determination. He called out for Tony a couple of times before realising that he had indeed left before Peter promptly falling through the vent, causing a hole in the ceiling.

After a few minutes Peter picked himself off the ground with a groan- it really hurt falling through some vents, unsurprisingly. Luckily he didn't feel too bad, well a bit dizzy and achy but that was fine, he'd certainly had worse injuries.

"How's the unwinnable bet going?" Natasha asked as Peter walked into the common room where the rest of the team was. 'Why did no-one have confidence that I can win this?' Peter thought.

"One one hand I fell through the ceiling and narrowly missed the lab bench, on the other I badly bruised my brain." Peter explained, sounding way too positive.

"If you wanted to make a bet with Tony you should have made one you could win." Bruce stated, the team knew from experience to never make a bet against Tony, it rarely ended well for them.

"Like who wears the most denim jackets." Clint chimed in, earning a laugh from the rest of the team.

"That was one time." Peter said sounding embarrassed by his fashion choice. "I'm surprised you guys don't have more faith in me." Peter added.

"Look Peter, this is not about your superpowers or your intelligence, it's about Tony. The man's a genius- he's had your number at every turn." Steve pointed out.

"Well not this day, turn, time," Peter stammered out, going dizzy again. Steve stared at Peter with concern. "Sorry I'm pretty sure I got a concussion back there" he stated as if it was nothing. 'Of course Peter would apologise for getting injured of course' Steve thought, he really is too pure for this word.

"Here I come" Peter mumbled as he began to fall forward. Steve caught him with ease, lifting him back onto his chair as if he was weightless.

"Oh strong." Peter exclaimed childishly.

Tony was about to re-enter his lab after his meeting when he noticed through the lab window that Peter was stood in there dressed as one of the SI cleaners.

"Peter come out of there." Commanded Tony, sounding completely unimpressed, yet still mildly amused.

"It's not Peter, just a regular cleaner pushing trash around." Peter replied with a terrible fake accent. The least convincing accent Tony had ever heard.

"Pete, I know it's you just come out here." Peter groaned in annoyance before turning around and leaving the lab.

"Tony hey." Peter said as if happy to see Tony.

"You really thought this was gonna work?" Asked Tony. "I expected better from you, you could have at least created a diversion." He added.

"I'm not dumb," Peter said, sounding mildly offended. "I had one planned there was just a minor timing issue." Peter explained and right on cue of small explosion went off in a nearby trash can.

"Tony you better go over there for like fifteen minutes and deal with that I'll be in your lab." Peter said with false urgency. Tony shot Peter an unimpressed look.

"Fine have it you way, but you'll need this and this." Peter handed Tony the broom he had been holding and placed a fake mustache on him.

Tony had returned to his lab and worked for a short while before he got a phone call from Pepper. He was talking with Pepper when he noticed a bunch of feathers coming out of a vent on the side wall, the vent is too small for even Peter to get into, but connects to a storage closet next to the lab. Tony left he lab to go see what the hell Peter was doing.

"What on earth are you doing Pete?" Tony asked, startling Peter who, despite his advanced hearing, didn't hear Tony enter. "How did you even catch these birds?" He added.

"I used my big brain." Peter retorted, what he actually meant was that he recruited Clint to help him catch pigeons using loaves of bread- it somehow worked- Lord knows how. Peter did ask every other Avenger but they all said no, telling Peter that they weren't dumb enough to try- well who's the dumb one now? Not Peter who is currently holding four pigeons.
"This is all part of my elaborate plan to defeat you!"

"So far all your elaborate master plan is making you lose." Tony pointed out smugly, after all he has caught Peter at every turn.

"Maybe." Peter shrugged. "But if we're talking about who is holding the most birds then I win four to nothing." Peter proudly proclaimed.

"You're only holding two." Tony said, motioning to where two birds had flown out of his grasp. Peter sighed as Tony walked away chuckling to himself, he thought that there was no way Peter could possibly win now- he couldn't wait to taunt Peter about not being able to patrol for an extra two weeks.

Tony had been back in his lab for about an hour when he was interrupted by a knock on the door. He opened it and stepped out to find himself greeted by Peter in fully Spider-Man outfit and a bunch of SI workers dressed in cheap Avengers dress-up sets. Peter nodded and grinned mischievously.

"Hit it superheroes." Peter commanded. Somehow even more appeared (how the hell did Peter get them to agree to this?) They began circling around, moving rhythmically. Tony realised that his key had been taken and all the people were throwing identical looking keys around. He was preoccupied by the people and their keys that he almost didn't notice that Peter had snuck out and went into one of the nearby rooms, almost.

"What no," Peter cried out when Tony walked in after him, a smug look on his face at having caught Peter again.

"Give me my keys." Tony ordered.

"Will you stop catching me, do you have any idea how much I spent on keychains?" Peter pouted. Tony considered for a moment.

"Twenty three dollars, not that is matters because I'm a billionaire kid." He answered.

"Wow that is unbelievable close, $23.76." Peter remarked. Tony looked unbothered and demanded his key back again.

"Okay look, today has been a little humiliating, things aren't going well so what do you say we call off the bet and pretend none of this happened." Offered Peter, with a pleading look on his face that normally Tony could not say no to.

"Oh I'm not letting you off the hook." There was no way Tony was letting this go when he was so confident he was going to win.

"What no, I meant to give you an out so you can save face." Peter lied, seriously he was a terrible liar.

"This is getting sad."

"Yeah for you maybe." Peter retorted with a scoff.

It had been another couple of hours with no disturbances and Tony thought that he finally had some peace from his Spider-kid and this stupid bet when Steve burst into the lab and informed Tony breathlessly that Peter had been injured and was in the med-bay. He informed Tony that he was okay but wanted to see him. If anybody else had have told him then he wouldn't have believed them, assuming that it was another ploy from Peter, but because it was America's Golden Boy he couldn't help but panic what was wrong with Peter.

"Ah Tony, welcome to the endgame!" Peter announced as Tony entered the med-bay and Steve shut the door behind them. Tony was too relieved that Peter wasn't hurt to be annoyed with him or Steve for tricking him. "Would you care to shake the hand of the one who defeated you." Peter grinned. Peter put his had out for Tony to shake who just gave Peter an unamused look, so Peter retracted his hand. Peter patted the space next to him on the bed for Tony to sit beside him.

"Just to be clear, you're not hurt." Tony asked, wanting to make sure that Peter was okay.

"Nope that was just a clever lie to get you in here so you can listen as I tell you all about your defeat. I knew Steve would be the only one you would believe because normally he's too boring and sensible to join in with anything like this." Peter explained to a surprised looking Tony.

"That's right, even Mr Righteous is on my side." Peter teased.

"I don't see what that has to do with you winning, as far as I can see all your plans failed and we're just sat in the med bay." Tony pointed out.

"That's where you're wrong Mr Stark. Let me take you back to earlier today. You remember when I fell out of the vent earlier in your lab?" Tony nodded in response, staying quiet as he let Peter explain what ever was happening.

"I admit that was a complete failure, but that's where I got the idea for the cleaner. With him I commenced the perfect crime." Peter said with a smirk.

"But I caught you then." Tony noted.

"But you didn't catch Nat. I had her pick the lock of the cabinet, which she did with ease. I just needed a way of getting her out because I broke the vent. That's where the mini explosion came in, not delayed but perfectly timed so she could leave your lab unseen." Tony looked a bit impressed with Peter, he was not at all surprised that Natasha would agree to help Peter.

"But what about the pigeons?" Tony enquired, that made no sense at the time and makes even less sense now.

"Oh the grey pigeons? They were a red herring. Their only purpose was to get you out the lab so a member of my team could sneak into the lab and unlock one of the lab windows so I now had a way into the lab and an open cabinet, all that's left was to steal your keys." Peter continued to explain.

"But you didn't need my key, what you needed was a way into the safe." Stated Tony, still unsure as to the direction this was going, although he was impressed by the planning of the whole scheme.

"And I got it! You were so concerned with getting your keys that you didn't notice Bruce steal your phone which I gave to Ned, who I invited over, to hack into to gain any passcodes you used. I assumed, because of your advanced age, that you would use the same one for your safe, or at least the same combination of numbers meaning that it would take up to five minutes to guess the correct combination if it wasn't the same one you already used." Peter continued.

"That's a fair assumption." Tony muttered, he wasn't that old.

"And that brings us to five minutes ago. I got Clint to climb in through the lab window and try the combinations on the safe. At which time Steve told you to come here as I was injured. If I am right, and I hope I am, Clint should be stood on the other side of the door with the plaque meaning I have won." Peter prayed he was right. Tony and Peter made there way over to the door and opened it, Clint was standing on the other side with his arms stretch out in front of him, proudly displaying the plaque. Peter let out a cheer as he realised that he had indeed won.

Tony looked mildly disappointed for a few seconds before a proud smile crossed his face. He turned to congratulate Peter, who despite his initial catastrophic failure managed to beat him. Tony had to admit that he was impressed, the kid was a genius creating such a strange and elaborate plan.

Later that night, as promised Peter went on patrol and Tony logged onto Twitter sending out a tweet that Spider-Man is the strongest and most powerful Avenger before beginning planning on next years heist...

Notes:

When Peter fell through the vent we're just gonna say that Tony didn't know/wasn't told that Peter had been injured.

I only included Ned in this chapter because I really like him and haven't included him yet!
