Rebecca: I saw your tweet chewing out all the reporters sending you obnoxious questions and I just wanted to say that I hope you're doing okay

Sam: yeah, I'm fine. thanks.

Sam: I was ready for it, I knew bucky coming out would blow up the internet even without us going public, too

Sam: out of curiosity, what would you have said if I'd messaged you to say I wasn't comfortable with the interview being printed?

Rebecca: I'd have told you to talk to your secret boyfriend and figure that out

Sam: that's it?

Rebecca: well, I also might have pointed out that if you were that worried about people reading between the lines, you should probably stop flirting with him on twitter and instagram before you start telling him not to come out when he didn't even mention you

Sam: ouch, that had some bite to it

Sam: I hadn't considered saying that - I was just curious about how you'd have reacted.

Rebecca: I kind of figured

Rebecca: just for the record, he really did volunteer it - it's not a thing I anticipated coming up when I sat down to interview him.

Rebecca: I just know you were worried about that with the whole "Bucky has a friend who's a reporter"

Sam: thanks for the clarification, but I know.

Rebecca: and I intentionally didn't ask him anything about you near where he talked about it.

Sam: I know

Sam: look, I've been convinced that you're not going to betray his trust or manipulate him. you can really calm down about it.

Rebecca: what changed?

Sam: I got to know you a little better while I was in town and I got a better sense from him of how long you guys have been talking

Sam: and I also noticed that you're not scared of him

Rebecca: if I was, we wouldn't be friends

Sam: that's what changed

Rebecca: okay

Sam: were you surprised?

Rebecca: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA no

Rebecca: not remotely

Rebecca: there was literally no part of me that was surprised

Sam: that was a much stronger reaction than I was expecting

Sam: why?

Rebecca: give me a sec

Rebecca: can I tell him why not?

Bucky: fine

Bucky: I'm holding you responsible when he starts teasing me, though, especially since it's a lot harder to make him stop when he's not physically here

Sam: not a thing you need to apologize for

Rebecca: I mean, I thought it anyway, but the interview he did in august confirmed it

Rebecca: I had to cut out a lot of stuff that would have made it really, really obvious

Sam: yeah, I remember telling Sarah that I would've loved to see the unedited thing, because I've got a decent sense of how much you cut out in general

Rebecca: HAHAHAHAHAHA no you truly don't even know the half of it, it's incredible

Sam: well, my curiosity is piqued

Rebecca: if your boyfriend's cool with it I'll give you the transcript, it was basically a love letter to you anyway

Sam: wait, seriously?

Rebecca: if he's actually okay with it, yeah

Sam: okay, you get the official captain america stamp of approval

Rebecca: exciting

Rebecca: because I'm okay with giving you the transcript if he says okay or because I'm emphasizing that he has to be okay with it?

Sam: both
