Chapter 71: Finding Azmuth

Chapter Text

Master Control

Chapter 71

Night had started to arrive, letting city lights illuminate the streets and expose the people to all forms of entertainment or business. It only made the darkness more prominent, shrouding everything that man didn't deem necessary to keep visible in the off hours. All the more better to keep things hidden from public eye.

Like a sketchy alleyway, leading into a sketchy part of town, leading to one of thee sketchiest of sketchy doors that a sketchily sketchy card brought her to…..that a sketchy dude gave her.

Questioning why she should even bother, she remembered the sole reason she showed up in the first place.

She was bored.

Giving a short knock along the door, Himiko waited to hear any kind of response from inside.

No? Giving one more shot at it with a more pronounced knock, Himiko stood outside in the summer cold, alone, like an idiot. Of course no one was here anymore. Whatever meet up that took place here had probably found somewhere better and less dangerous. "Guess I was late to the party."

"Actually."

A hand pushed along her back as another opened the door, Himiko immediately bolting forward a few feet to get away from the bad touch man. He snuck up on her, no one sneaks up on her!

On her feet and fingers sharpening, she bore her fangs towards the immediate danger. All around her were people and characters that were probably banned from coming anywhere close to a school.

One of them, was the lizard guy who gave her the card in the first place, and everyone else?

Kid in a gas mask.

Stage magician.

Burnt goth.

Noir man.

Bondage roleplayer.

Beef-hang on that was Muscular!

Off to the side, her eyes widened as she easily recognized one of Izuku's transformations, that wasn't alien and scanned from a villain who invaded the USJ. Piecing it all together, that left the one guy who rose every red flag standing in the doorway. Pale dry skin, light messy hair, cracked lips, and those hateful red eyes.

These weren't just sketchy people, she was at the heart of the League of Villains.

Shit.

Quiet, still, one ghostly girl kept to herself as she simply observed in the cargo area of the alien vessel. It's what she did a lot, it's what she liked doing. It was especially entertaining in a world of quirks, aliens, and heroes. All three happened to just be in one person, the same one who changed her life for the better. Now, lots of people at first kept telling her that this was a bad thing, that she was worse than before, that she needed help and that they would prefer her to be quirkless than stronger.

The anger flashed across her visage, briefly crunching a scrap of metal laying nearby.

Reiko wasn't ignorant to why they would think that, but none of them would listen to her when she tried to explain that perhaps maybe her more agitated state was from nearly dying? Or how they were the ones that kept trying to take away her newfound strength, or calling her a slave even though she was choosing to repay Izuku.

"Fix fix fix fix!" The red gremlin that was Kota in his Juryrigg form, pulling together whatever was deemed cheap and replaceable by Izuku in his Gray Matter form. The two were working together, creating a makeshift device that could only be described as ghost busting equipment.

Ghost Freak, the alien that got loose, the DNA that ran through her veins. All the concerns over what might become of her or what was being held back revolved around that being. Izuku believed it was bad, so it had to be. Though her curiosity couldn't be denied, because now she had the perfect source to truly understand herself.

An untainted, unbiased factor that would show how similar, or how different she really was from their fear of Ghost Freak. Reiko had confidence in the answer she would find, that she was her own person and would stay that way no matter what. A lingering doubt still tickled her thoughts, the 'what if?' scenario.

What if when she encountered Ghost Freak, and found he harbored the same feelings as her?

Within a mess of metal pathways and buildings the size of mountains pressed tightly together, holographic signs full of bright colors competing for attention danced around them amongst the bustling walkways. FIgures tall and short, big and small, hard and soft, dry and slimy-

Eeeww, that one had some disgusting teeth.

The two tendril plugs hanging along the back of Kota's head, his one eye constantly getting distracted by everything around himself. It was easier to blend in using his Feedback form, Izuku having reengaged the temporary life form lock until it wasn't necessary. Apparently Earth and its humans had a reputation in the galactic federation, a rather bad one.

"Hey." The walking chemical tank that was Gutrot, aka Izuku tapped his shoulder. "Try not to get lost. There's no telling how long it would take to track you in all of this-"

"Yeah yeah." Feedback trotted along, following his fellow shapeshifter along the crowded alien city/planet. He couldn't make out exactly where Reiko was, but she was probably nearby. Probably. "So, where are we even going?"

"Gonna meet a friend." Gutrot shared as he spotted the street side eatery. "I contacted her before we landed."

"You're friends with aliens?"

"A few of them, but the one was pretty much human born and raised up until a few months ago."

Kota wasn't sure how that worked, but he saw some pink glowing woman wearing a black chrome jacket with the trim made of neon blue lights. She waved to them, Gutrot picking up his pace a little faster with Feeback right behind him.

"Izuku!" Itsuka Kendo called out, standing near the food stand. "How have you been?"

"Doing pretty well." Gutrot came up, probably smiling under the mask covering the lower half of his face. "Got a new Dad."

"I heard." Itsuka smirked as she gestured to the food stand where they all sat down. "All Might and I chat every now and then. We had a little bet going on with who would ask first."

"Who won?"

"Me." Itsuka briefly looked over the menu, trying to find something good to try out. "Though it's been harder to make a new body than I predicted. Thinking I might go for one of those synthetic skin sets that seems to be all the rage. Space seems to be going towards a cyberpunk direction lately. Galactic federation is trying to crack down on all the flesh and tech mixing but hard to do that when a tenth of their representatives already chromed up."

Leaning forward, her vibrant eyes did a scan over Feedback, the boy's alien tendrils quivering by how much power her body seemed to emanate. "So, you've got an omnitrix to?"

"Y-yeah." Feedback looked back to the menu, trying not to let his current genes entrance him to the largest source of power that also just so happened to be a girl.

"Not just any." Gutrot answered as he gave a short pat along Feeback's shoulder. "He's got this universe's, and we need to find its creator, Azmuth. Last we know he fled the same system we just came from, probably crossing into the border so he couldn't be followed as easily."

"Oh man." Itsuka winced, very well guessing which civilization they left from. "I haven't been out that way yet. Are they as war frenzy as the rumors say they are?"

"Probably more." Izuku answered. "I don't think Azmuth liked it for a second but genetic experimentation is illegal here."

"Ah yeah, that's a BIG no." Itsuka finally decided to order, treating them to the meal given how she was the only one with money that worked here. It didn't take long for Gutrot to notice something important though.

"Where's Bivalvan?"

"He got the shipyard job!" Itsuka gladly announced. "Though it's more official, unlike the junk one you stowed away in. Speaking of those guys, if we want to find Azmuth there is one person I invited to help track him down."

Kota felt another electrifying presence approach, the plugs along his body twitching as they instinctually craved it. Turning around in the stool, he could see what looked like a jellyfish person swerving between the alien crowd headed right towards them.

"Another omnitrix." Ra'ad muttered as he looked over the boy. "On a young, irresponsible child."

Overhearing the familiar voice, Gutrot turned around to be met with the face of a friend. "Ra'ad!"

"Hello Midoriya." The alien shortly greeted, before addressing all three of the Earthlings. "I believe I can help you, as you helped me."

It was all shit, absolute SHIT of a trap and she still fell for it like the bitch she was. Himiko has really lost her edge, not only in identifying the creeps and dangers that lurked in the darkest parts of society but also her awareness of her basic surroundings. That, or these people were more dangerous than she thought.

Oh, and she just happened to leave the friggin teleport thingy at home. So looks like she was fighting her way out. All around her she tried to muster together fragments of Izuku's ramblings about observing quirks, and if memory was serving right then out of everyone around her didn't have anything that could affect the temperature or use water. Maybe the guy with burn scars, but that didn't necessarily mean that was his quirk.

There were some mystery boxes in the mix, but the only one she was really concerned with was the teleporting guy. Hold on, didn't Izuku erase their leader's quirk? The one blocking the doorway? The one that seemed way overconfident and about to talk?

"So, what do you want to play first?" Tomura reached up to scratch an itch on his neck, only to stop himself. "We've got shooters, a few split screen rpgs, a couple party ones to break the ice. If you're into it we even have some tabletop ones and some dice. Twice makes a surprisingly fun DM, but he never plans things out."

"I can plan something!" Twice whined before suddenly backtracking. "You guys always kill the story NPC's!"

Himiko's fingers lowered, the girl taking another look around the room full of killers and villains. They were all just sitting, mostly doing their own thing while just being casual with her presence. What gives?! "Do you think I'm going to join your party or something?"

"Who else is trying to change the hero system?" Tomura earnestly questioned her, leaning his arm against the doorframe. "Who else sees its flaws and the spiral of corruption it was built to support? You've noticed it, you're not willingly turning a blind eye because of the diluting entertainment it provides. Time and time again you speak out against the violence it promotes, how eager it makes everyone to beat down the unfortunate, or forcing the innocent into an avoidable conflict."

"Oh how touching." Himiko mockingly placed a hand over her heart. "If it was coming from someone who keeps trying to kill kids."

"The ones who are being groomed to fight on the front lines for their profit?" Tomura shot back. "You telling me you enjoyed being used as a circus act for the sports festival? Are you all words in defiance of the hero system? Or are you going to do something about it, because like it or not we're the only ones trying."

He, wasn't wrong on that part. Himiko saw it, time and time again the hero system encouraging so many of her friends to risk their lives before they were even old enough to drive. For some reason, no matter how many times she brought it up they couldn't even see what she was pointing at. The system the heroes rode on gave them the most money for being flashy, doing movies and toy deals that raked in more for their sponsors. When they did fight, they were looking for easy pickings, someone they could use to drag out the conflict until the cameras arrived. It risked more lives, created more collateral, but everyone just kept running up and gawking instead of getting away from the danger.

Even her quirkless brother, before he could even defend himself was hypnotized by it all and was mentally programmed to run straight to any sign of danger. He nearly died, so, many, times, and who could blame a kid for wanting to be a hero in a world that encouraged everyone to be one.

The world was blind to the dangers it was stirring up with the hero system, and it needed a wake up call.

That's what the League of Villains tried to do, directly attacking the USJ facility and Hosu. It wasn't enough, they failed on both accounts. But the system they were fighting against? It died.

Literally, the HPSC was toppled down in a single attack, Japan had faced dangers that threw its heroes to take care of. Those heroes, were put in real danger where there was no foreseeable way to actually win. It did more than wake them up, it scared them. All the heroes who weren't willing to put their lives on the line ran scared with their tail between their legs. Even the money to be made was gone for professional heroes, All Might and his agency doing their best to cushion them financially until things were stable enough.

Change did come, but it wasn't from the League of Villains, but from aliens.

The only one who could teach them to defend themselves from aliens? Her brother.

Dammit why did Izuku have to be so ignorant and right at the same time.

"Sorry." Himiko braced herself for the inevitable. "But in case you haven't noticed, something did happen, the hero system collapsed and right now only those who actually care are picking up what's left."

"Like All Might? The face of the HPSC who just conveniently took over?"

"Ok, he's got a stupid face sure." Himiko would agree on that. "But I'd rather put my trust in people who are actually there to help in a crisis than the ones causing them."

Tomura's face flinched into a scowl at her words, his posture straightening as he brought his hand to scratch the irritation at his neck. "So, it's a no then?"

The others around her, they all stood up and put down their personal entertainment, all focusing on her with deadly gazes. Himiko matched them, her arms splitting off into blades as she crouched low, ready to kill before they cut her down.

"Oh well then." Tomura strolled past, taking a spot at the bar as Kurogiri began pouring him a drink. "Still, come by anytime if you wanna play games or something."

"Wait." Himiko was completely puzzled, seeing that the rest of the League followed in their leader's actions to just sit down and relax. "You're gonna let me go? Just like that?"

"Just like that." Tomura took a short swig before pulling out his phone from his pocket to scroll through. "Oh, and would you not let others know where we are? This is an exclusive gaming club after all, members only."

Taking a step towards the door, testing their reaction, Himiko cautiously kept a close eye on everything and everyone as she shifted herself to the door. Nope? Nothing? They're just letting her go?

Even as she took her first step outside, she expected an ambush. Nope, no sudden death.

"Well, bye then." She awkwardly said, taking great care to make sure she was not being followed as she left the area.

The League was left alone, all of them biding their time before the plan moved itself into motion.

"Did it work?" Mustard questioned as he dropped the controller in his hand.

"Doesn't look like it." Muscular scowled as he stomped over to slam his hand next to Tomura. "You should have let me squash her."

"Hey!" Spinner grabbed his blade, aiming it towards the man. "We agreed that whether or not she was with us she wouldn't be against us!"

"It didn't quite sound like that." Dabi warned them.

"There's no need to worry." Tomura held up his phone, where on it was displayed a rough rendering of Himiko's body with many little dots starting to spread throughout it. "The nanites are doing their part, now we just need to get ready to do ours. Kurogiri?"

"Yes?"

"What's the progress on our nomu?"

"They will be ready by the night, including Gigantomachia."

Taking an drawn out sip from the glass in his hand, Tomura savored the sweet, sweet sensation that tingled his insides. Placing it down, he got up from his spot and stretched his legs. The time for talking, waiting, preparing, was finally coming to an end.

Now? Now it was time to put it all into action.

The great thing about being friends with an Amperi was that they had experience being able to read even the smallest of electrical pathways. It wasn't just sensing, merging, or even being able to harness the miniscule currents. The true talent was being able to decipher the noise, to find script and thought in the chaos of the clouds of energy pulsing through every machine and every mind.

They could read a library of information in seconds, and given how communications and data was broadcasted through the very space they walk or fly they didn't have to go anywhere for Ra'ad to find what they were looking for.

Bad news? The last known whereabouts of Azmuth were deep in the heart of the galactic federation, within the tightest security known to the galaxy, locked away in the strongest prison ever built. They take their laws very seriously, especially if they're broken.

So now here was the struggle, they had to get IN and then OUT with one of their prized prisoners. They had all sorts of aliens in there, and all sorts of technology to prevent manny from sneaking past their guard. Who knows what scanners they had that could spot level twenty technology or an Adronite, or a half Ectonurite because if they were cautious of anything getting in it would be a species that could be invisible and phase through walls.

There were only a couple options they could see, and even then they weren't the best.

Try to just walk in and ask, which counted on them not asking questions about the omnitrix devices that they would consider highly illegal.

Force their way in, because picking a fight with the interstellar government that considered Earth a dumping ground was a good idea.

Or, try their luck on the fact that Ra'ad species were thought to be extinct, on top of using other aliens not native to this universe they might be able to sneak in. That was a big if though, because even though Necrofriggians aren't native to this universe there are other species here that do have the ability to become intangible.

That was the discussion taking place within the cockpit region of a small shuttle that Ra'ad rented to get to them in the first place.

"That's not a lot of options." Itsuka crossed her legs as she floated above them, looking down from the ceiling. "I'd like to do things open and honestly, but-"

"If you do they'll arrest you both and try to destroy the omnitrix devices." Ra'ad stated in full confidence.

"Ha." Kota laughed at the thought. "Good luck with that. These things are stuck with us and nothing breaks them."

"You're humans, they wouldn't even bother to take it off before throwing you in a disintegrator."

Swallowing the sudden lump in his throat, Kota took things more seriously. "Ok then, we break in really fast and bust out of there."

"We'd immediately get their notice." Izuku scratched his head before reaching for his omnitrix. In a quick slap a wave of green washed over himself. He didn't look different, but his mind was more enhanced than any human's. "The probability of escaping their notice is slim, guaranteed if any of us are upfront in an assault. But, perhaps if there were a critical system error caused by an explainable phenomena, one strong enough to even affect their back up and residual power cells, any phase shifting matter could slip notice momentarily. Itsuka, would you be able to create a mock solar flare with an increase of magnetic resonance?"

"Oh, those are easy." Itsuka held her hand up, arcs of solar power flowing out of her palm. "Just burning some simple gasses and just throw in all sorts of heat and radiation. They won't tell the difference if I burn out their sensitive equipment right away."

"Good." Nodding as it all started to piece itself together, his feet began to pace as he saw it fit into place. "Now we'll need Ra'ad to stay in the shuttle and monitor communications. I guarantee that any system built to withstand solar winds would have a way to siphon excess power from their circuits. So instead Kota and I will use our Necrofriggian forms to enter."

"You still won't have a lot of time." Ra'ad warned the two boys. "They're in constant looped communication with other facilities. If the contact is broken, they will send in guards to investigate."

"I just need to access an index that's not routed into the primary power cyclers." Pushing himself up to his feet, Izuku felt the plan was now solid enough to stand on. "Now, let's go over contingency plans."

Within the depths of space, hidden from citizens and criminals was the largest holding facility created. It didn't have a perfect record, but it had the best one. It was the size of a large asteroid, only completely metal with spires patrolling its orbit. Taking advantage of a mix of dead and broken planets around the system with no star to speak of, they were just far enough away where no one could make a quick hop but close enough to be monitored by patrols.

Yep, no one would enter or leave unnoticed. If they tried, they would be met with lethal force. Didn't matter if they were even official, protocols must be followed. Aliens were all about rules.

But something caught the station's attention, when a star only two light years away that barely started its lifespan shimmered a little brighter. They would have time to analyze it, determine its waves and patterns, and years before it would reach them they would have already recalibrated their systems to withstand the solar winds.

So imagine their surprise when it hit them in ten minutes.

The shields illuminated in bright auroras before all of their systems began to burn under a wave of radiation crashing into their circuits and cables. Lights snapped out, everything growing still and dark alongside its companion surveillance ships. Mechanisms sealed themselves automatically, the whole station going into immediate lockdown to keep its prisoners secured.

Back up facilities and functions were already trying to kick through the storm and bring control as fast as possible. Until then? It was the perfect time for something to move in while every camera, every computer, every guard was working in the blind.

Passing by the exterior satellites, two Necrofriggians weaved through the depths of space as they flew straight ahead. As far as they could tell, they had yet to be noticed, and Ra'ad hadn't reported hearing any emergency comm traffic.

Izuku led the charge, harmlessly passing through the exterior walls as Kota followed right behind him. This was the hardest part, there were no schematics for them to go off of just calculated guesses. When it doubt, go towards the center and work towards the exterior.

But during that time, they did happen across all sorts of criminals.

Kota flapped his wings a couple times to catch up to Izuku. "Wow, did you see that big purple guy? Talk about ugly."

Passing down another darkened tall corridor, glass compartments along the sides all holding their own prisoner, Izuku kept his eye out for any indicator of a working light or, a control panel or a computer he might be able to get working. "Kota, don't try to antagonize the criminals. Who knows what got all these guys are in here fo-"

His antennas perked up, Izuku in place as a sudden scent came across his appendages. No, they couldn't be here, could they? Tapping the dial on his chest, he checked the harness ID's to make sure they were not only where they were supposed to be but also on who they belonged to. They were home, all five of them.

That didn't mean ALL of them.

"Kota." Izuku began as he started to follow the familial scent. "You remember what he looks like right?"

"Yeah, small and gray. You turned into one to show me-"

"Good, go find him. Let me know if things go wrong."

"Wait, why what?!" Kota tried to catch up, but Izuku dove immediately downwards and was out of sight from the boy.

This was originally supposed to be a rescue mission, it still was but now Izuku could tell there were more that he was going to break out. No other species held this scent, no one outside of his family had this scent. He only saw them once, it felt like years ago but it wasn't even a year. They chose to leave, they chose to follow their own natural call to go out into the universe.

He respected their choice, but that didn't mean he would ever stop caring for them, or ignore them if they needed help. Izuku was close now, the scent stronger than any other cell. His translucent form stopped before the thick walls, foggy glass keeping him from seeing what was inside.

Touching his hand against it, Izuku cursed the material. It was keeping him out, it was designed especially for his ability to phase through solid matter. Fine, plan B.

Switching from Big Chill to Humungousaur, he dug his massive fingers down into the bottom of the frame and in a single heave removed the door from the wall. Bending down onto one knee, he saw them, cuddled into each other and trying to hide themselves in the shadows.

"Hey, heyheyheyhey." Crouching low as he met their eyes, Izuku approached as gently as he could, as much as a big humanoid dinosaur could. Seeing his mistake, he switched to the form he addressed them as when they left.

In a short flash, the many alien moth children were greeted by a familiar face, the day they saw when they were brought into the world that was life. Despite the cold chill that was pouring out from the room, Izuku didn't flinch from it. Taking slow steps inside across the thin sheet of ice, he held his hand out to them for them to sniff.

One of them dared, bringing his antenna out to investigate, and after a short few sniffs the small child darted into its father's arms.

"It's ok." Izuku rocked the boy back and forth, more fluttering forward to pile into him. "I'm here, I'll get you out of here. All of you."

Red lights filled the tall hallway behind him, pulsing as alarms began to grind themselves to life. Back up has kicked in now, there was only so much time to find-

*Click Click* Something had moved in behind him, Izuku hearing a slow hummer of a machine just outside the cell he was crouched in. "Stay behind me." He whispered to them, spreading out his arms to shield all ten of his children as he faced off against whatever had come for them.

The first thing he saw was guns, BIG ones connected to a set of drones hovering in the air and pointing their weapons at his face. The only thing keeping him alive? The fact that he was technically in a cell and not outside one.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" A voice shouted from below his sight, a very familiar voice that seemed agitated about the stupidity of it all.

"Azmuth." Izuku whispered out, seeing the man was not in jail but in fact wearing a uniform belonging to the galactic federation.

"Yes? And what exactly is a human doing here in one of the most secure facilities in five galaxies? I doubt you came alone, even if you have one of those sporadic mutations you couldn't possibly-"

*SHLICK*

Kota, in his Big Chill form swept through the drones and froze their internal components. The guns jammed, the power cells cracked, until both of them sputtered out and fell to the ground.

"I found him!" Kota gladly declared as he snatched up Azmuth, who was not at all pleased with these developments.

"Put me down!" The great scientist demanded as he kicked his feet. "I am not some toy for you to play with nor will I allow you to steal these subjects!"

"Subjects?" The teen's hands clenched tightly, Izuku taking another look to his children before returning his darkened gaze to the creator of the omnitrix. "These are children, children, and you're just treating them like some lab subjects?"

"That is an exaggeration!" Azmuth retorted in agitation, looking up towards the Necrofriggian holding him hostage unintentionally. "You, you're one of them. But you don't exhibit signs of being their parent you're-"

He spotted it, the device on Kota's chest keeping him in alien form. In this circumstance he seemed to swell with all sorts of emotions, guilt, pride, longing, fear, surprise, more guilt, but it always came out as annoyed for the first thinker. "Why would you ever think to bring the omnitrix to the heart of the galactic federation."

*BEEP BOOP BWOOO*

Kota turned back in a flash of red, opening his human palm to let Azmuth stand on his own in it. "Do you have any idea what you two are doing here, with that? With them?! What would be so important you would risk your lives and my work for?!"

"We came to rescue you!" Izuku began, his thoughts tripping over each other. "But, you're not a prisoner apparently, but there's still a big problem that we NEED your help with."

"Oh really?" Azmuth folded his arms together in unbelief. "And what would that be?"

"Midoriya, do you copy?" Ra'ad's voice came over Izuku's omnitrix, the boy holding it up to reply. "We have a situation."

"You're telling me." The teen replied, still trying to figure out how to move forward but maybe that's where Ra'ad would help. "What's happening?"

"An armada is arriving."

Crap, he had no idea they would take this so seriously. "Ok, I'll talk to Azmuth first. Apparently he's working with the galactic federation maybe he can convince them to stand down and-"

"It's not the galactic federation." Ra'ad said in a more hastened, grave voice.

No one, not Kota, not Izuku, not even Azmuth spoke as they internally debated who would have a whole armada at their disposal and what they would even bring it here for. To get an answer, Izuku followed by Kota carrying Azmuth and nearly a dozen fluttering children went to the nearest window to see what it could be.

Izuku's emerald eyes searched across the deep expanse of darkness, until he spotted a hull of bright blue jump into view. It wasn't the only one, more continued to leap out of hyperspace bigger in size with even bigger guns. This wasn't just an armada, this was an entire interstellar military that had been prepping for war.

This wasn't a target for military advantage, unless there was something here that they deemed important enough to break a treaty and begin a battle that would span across the stars.

They had come for them, they had come for the omnitrix.

Ok ok, I know I said I would wrap this arc up in one more chapter BUT this felt like a good place to break it in half. Surprise! Izuku had come across his ten other children that went into space thirty nine chapters ago! Wow it's been a while since we saw them.

The gang has found Azmuth, but he is not a prisoner as they had thought. No, I have not forgotten about Reiko.

Either way, war has come.
