Master Control
Chapter 75
A few months later
His footsteps were banging against the floorboards, his heart beating erratically. It was gone, lost. After all this time, over five hundred years, how could he forget?
"Has anyone seen my bag?!" Izuku burst out of his bedroom, fully dressed in his student uniform and his hair brushed as well as he could manage. It was starting to get too long again.
"You still use a bag?" Himiko closed her bedroom door, uncomfortably adjusting the actual clothes she was forced to wear. "I thought you just store everything in your omnitrix."
"I have to keep up appearances." Izuku answered her, who seemed to be forgetting he was trying to appear normalish.
"Papi!"
"Papa!"
"Dad!"
Rumi, Shinji, and Tensei all came barreling out from the nearest wall, having grown nearly a whole foot each. They had also become accustomed to actually wearing clothes, which was usually some of their father's older shirts and shorts from his own younger self.
"Enji has it!" Tensei pointed to outside of the house, Izuku walking by the window to see the other two boys floating along the shore with his bag resting along the sand.
"What are they doing?" He calmly asked.
"Getting you food." Shinji answered, just as Izuku saw Enji carrying a frozen fish from the water to his bag.
"O-oh."
"And shells!" Rumi flapped up to sit on her father's shoulders, grabbing his head and manually pointing his eyes to where Keigo was grabbing various rocks and shells by the handfuls.
"That's, thoughtful." Was all Izuku could say in the kindest way possible. Looks like he wasn't taking a bag on their first day back from summer break.
"Izuku, Himiko, Eri!" Inko called out from the kitchen, where steam sizzled with the smell of bacon. Naomasa was sitting at the table, going over some notes on one of the more recent investigations. "You better come get something to eat now otherwise you'll be late!"
"Right!" Himiko was already waltzing over, finding a bowl of lukewarm oatmeal waiting for her with spices set aside for her.
Izuku held up his omnitrix, dialing Enji and Keigo mentally through their harnesses. "Come up for breakfast."
"Sure thing daddy o!" Keigo affirmed, him and Enji plopping into the kitchen seconds later with Izuku's bag that was in dire need of a wash, repair, or just being replaced.
"Dad!" Enji dragged the bag along as Izuku was laying out five empty silver plates. "We packed you lunch!"
"T-thanks." Izuku got through his meal, watching as all five of his kids fluttered into their seats and began chewing away at their plates. He reached down to the bag, which wiggled slightly as he picked it up. "I'll just, tuck this away for later."
*SKREEE*
He zapped the bag into his omnitrix, deciding to deal with it later out of their view. As they were eating Eri came rushing into the room, not being used to getting up early due to having her own self paced online learning. She was wearing the basics of a UA outfit, but instead of the jacket she had on a white doctor's coat. It was a little big on her, but she'd grow into it. Her roots had also grown exponentially longer, now she had shoulder length wavy white hair that faded into her previously dyed green bangs.
"Sorry I'm late." Eri slipped into her chair, quickly wolfing down the food before her.
"You're still on time." Naomasa mentioned as he nibbled on some of his toast. "But if you're going to be UA's assistant nurse, you should make sure to show up early."
"Exactly." Inko agreed as she walked over, giving a quick kiss on everyone's head, leaving a longer one on Naomasa's own mouth.
"Only an assistant?" Himiko used her hand to form another mouth to speak out of as she chewed with her main one. "Aren't they going to be relying on her for her quirk?"
"My quirk!" Eri nearly shot out of her seat as she leaned over to Izuku. "I didn't get the quirk from you yet!"
"Oh, right." Izuku held his hand out to grasp Eri's shortly, a large flash emanating from the omnitrix until Eri had her DNA rearranged only in the slightest. "Hope you don't mind a clockwork quirk instead of a splicing. Of course, I probably could dig up your old one from the scanned quirk archives."
"No changing at the table." Inko scolded the two.
"Sorry." They both apologized, before finishing their meals and getting up to go to the door.
"Nooooo!" Rumi flew out from her seat, all of her siblings following to latch onto their father and his own sisters. "Stay!"
"Don't go!"
"Play with us!"
"School is a sham!"
"Mmmm, spam."
"We'll be back!" Himiko promised. "Just, watch some natural geographic or something!"
"It sucks now!"
"It's all about fancy people instead of animals!"
"Down with hollywood!"
As each child fell into a rant, they hadn't realized that they had started distracting themselves as they moved towards the television to start scrolling through the various shows that seemed stupid to them.
"Good luck at school." Inko waved her children off as they left the house, Naomasa heading over to the elevator to go down to check in with Providence for the day.
They didn't technically need to walk to school, given how one of them can just teleport them straight there or the other could travel them through time itself to get to their destination. Though in Himiko and Izuku's experience it was enjoyable to have some time to relax before getting into the stress of the day.
It also gave them time to walk with their friends.
Himiko gave a short yelp to the group of teens ahead of them. Eijiro, Mina, Denki, and Kyoka.
"Yo!" Eijiro called out as he saw the trio coming towards them. "Welcome to the club!"
"Welcome to the club!" Mina clapped her hands, congratulating their newest member. "Oh, did you not get your horn back?"
"No." Eri rubbed the spot on her forehead where the key point of her quirk used to be. "It, was used for a lot of bad things. I want to do some good now to make up for that."
"I mean, you never did those things yourself right?" Denki began before Kyoka jabbed her elbow into his side to get him to shut up.
"So, are you still quirkless then?" Kyoka side tracked the uncomfortable topic.
"That was fun." Eri admitted, having no need to worry about an entire quirk and just living. "But I do have a new quirk similar to my last one, just much easier to use."
"Awww." Mina gave a short whine before ruffling the front of Eri's hair, much to her displeasure. "Shame we can't be horn buddies anymore."
"That's alright." Himiko sprouted out a long pair of spear-like horns atop her head. "There's still one Midoriya part of the horny club."
"Never-" Izuku softly begged. "-say that again."
The classrooms were starting to get filled with students and teachers alike. From hero courses to business, each of the children filed into their seats as they had earlier in the year. For some, it was longer than a single summer.
Eyeing the doorway with an old nostalgic sensation, Izuku stepped back into the business course.
"Oh, hey Izuku!" Subaru waved the boy over to his old seat, one he hadn't seen in centuries. Around him, Tanya, Kazuma, Ainz, and even Naofumi were chatting away. "We were just talking about our summer break."
"Oh?" Finding peace in the normalcy, Izuku took his spot in the class and listened on. "What did you guys do?"
"Nothing special." Tanya shrugged the topic off her shoulders.
"I lazed around and played some games." Kazuma confessed without a hint of regret.
Needed to get some steam off his chest, Naofumi huffed as he glared into the corner of the room. "Dealt with a false accusation lawsuit, again."
"I studied." Ainz shared, easing the tension the previous student made.
"Oh! Same here!" Main, the girl sitting across the room was immediately invested in the topic. "It was great to just sit down and read all summer!"
"Hey." Leon rolled back in his seat to join in. "Don't you do that all the time anyways?"
"It's summer!" Katarina cheerfully announced. "What else should you do besides what you find fun?!"
"So Izuku." Cid, probably the most normal out of them all (unless you looked in his sketchbooks) called out to the teen. "What did you do this summer?"
*SLAM*
"ATTENTION!" Cueball yelled out as she came marching into the classroom with stiff over exaggerated movements. Of course, no one treated her seriously as she played soldier. Still, they sat quietly and listened in case she casually threw out a piece of vital information.
"Welcome back everyone!" The woman excitedly slammed her hand onto her desk. "Summer was pretty exciting, but now that we're back in school things are going to get even more intense. You've all worked hard before break, and I plan on picking back up the pace we had before! But before that-"
Cueball held up the magic eight ball, shaking it vigorously as the answers swirled inside of it. "-we'll consult our fellow guidance counselor!"
Yep, back to the crazy world of normal. No place he'd rather be.
Eraserhead, as every other day, arrived with all of his students sitting upright and awaiting instruction. "Good, no one forgot to behave themselves during the summer. We have some things to go over, from work study opportunities to going through the results of your summer training. But before that, I have an announcement. As you are aware, we have two unoccupied seats of students that won't be returning. Today, we plan to fill two of them with students who we deemed to be fit to join the hero course. Come in."
Everyone eagerly turned towards the door, at the edge of their seats to see who was about to join them.
Two faces entered wearing UA uniforms, one familiar to them all and the other was one only a few had the chance to meet.
Hitoshi Shinso, and Melissa Shield stood before them all.
Giving a smirk of victory, Hitoshi stuck his hands in his pockets. "Told you I'd get a spot."
"Hey everyone!" Melissa, feeling like the odd one out, waved to the bunch. "I know I'm technically a senior, but work has taken my father and myself here and there are some things I still need to catch up on."
"Don't overwhelm them." Eraserhead wanted as he began to swaddle himself in his own wrappings. "But for today, and only today, I'll let you ease yourselves back into school. Don't abuse this privilege."
He rolled under his desk, tuning them out as they immediately wanted to get acquainted with the newest students.
"It's great to see you again!" Ochaco beamed to Melissa, who took one of the two empty spots in the class.
"We're honored to have you participating in class with us!" Tenya gave his greeting chop, not to be mistaken with any other of his hand gestures fixed at a ninety degree angle.
"I must ask though." Momo began to approach the subject. "Is this in regards to your amnesia that you're going to be learning with us?"
"Mostly yeah. I still remember most subjects like anything to do with science, mathematics, engineering, but my history and economics is pretty much gone." Melissa admitted as much as it embarrassed her. "But, after my recent 'quirk awakening' I've enrolled in a fast paced hero licensing program."
"I'm sure you'll fit in." Ojiro nearby assured her, who had been listening in on the conversation.
"Oui." Aoyama, returned to an equally dazzling but in a more reserved way. He was no longer fully spliced, but he did not have his old quirk that was incompatible with himself. After over a month of being taken in by Providence, he was not only healed of the dismemberment from behind harvested, but also cleared by Naomasa after some extensive questions. Just before school started back up, he was able to be reunited with society back to the privileges he had. This time, with an alien generated quirk from Chromastone. While he might not be as durable or as powerful, he still possessed a good fraction of all his abilities while retaining his dazzling human self. "The past is the past, and we all look forward to the future, non?"
Off on the other side of the room, Hitoshi picked the seat around the more quiet and reserved individuals. At least at the moment. Reiko, Bakugo, and Tokoyami all kept to themselves. Time to poke the hornet's nest.
"So." Turning to his side where Reiko was currently at, he got the girl's attention with her one eye shifting along the tears in her head to face him. He shivered at the disturbance, realizing this was going to take getting used to. "You think I can get a quirk upgrade too?"
"Buzz off." Bakugo uttered without turning around. "Just because there was an open spot doesn't mean you can't get booted right out for slacking."
"I just want to have an extra boost is all." Hitoshi slyly reasoned before looking back to Reiko. "Like how you happen to be immune to quirks."
"I'm not immune to all quirks." Reiko informed the boy, recalling being easily captured before Eraserhead and Ragdoll managed to track her down and free her.
"But most if no one can touch you." Attempting to demonstrate this, Hitoshi grabbed an eraser from his pocket and tossed it at her head. The girl just caught it with her hand, setting it back on his desk without a word.
"Oi." Bakugo, steaming in place as his whole body tensed pivoted back towards the boy. "If you dare lay a hand on her-"
"Relax." Hitoshi casually stretched back in his newly acquired desk. "I'm not trying to hit on your girlfriend."
"She's not my girlfriend!"
"Oh really?" Dark shadow emerged from Tokoyami's side, joining in on the teasing. "Then why do you keep inviting her to go on dates?"
"THEY'RE NOT DATES!"
Letting out an exhausted sigh, Tokoyami reigned in his quirk before it signed a death warrant on their heads during the next training exercise. Truly, this was a mad parade.
Classes had passed, lunch had come, and friends all sat together. For some, they had their smaller and more reserved groups, but others who found themselves the center of attention or simply interacted with many of them wound up with a crowd competing for their time.
As for Shoto, he simply sat alone again. It was nothing new, he knew he wasn't much of a conversationalist. Though he recently had some family drama going on that he felt oddly distant from. With many of the villains captured, one of them was discovered to be related to him. Dabi, the arsonist villain, was his brother Toya.
He never knew him growing up, but the revelation made his father actually step back from hero work for a moment and focus on his family. Right now only Endeavor could visit him in Tartarus, but Natsuo continued to accuse their father of making things worse by keeping them from Toya.
Unsure of what side of this debate to take, he separated himself from it entirely. Which left him alone, again.
"Hey." Himiko plopped herself down across from him. "Do you ever eat anything other than Soba?"
"It's good."
"Mhmm." Grabbing a spoonful of jello, Himiko shoveled it into her mouth as she propped her cheek against her palm. "Can't be healthy though."
Taking a pause from his own meal, he reexamined Himiko's. "Is yours?"
"Believe it or not, yeah." She grinned at him as she took another bite. "Though all the sugar, not as much."
"Why aren't you sitting with Izuku, or Eri, or your other friends?"
"Have you seen that table?" Himiko gestured over to the chaos in the center of the lunchroom, where half of class A and Izuku's business class were squeezing themselves to fit around him. "Nah, I'd rather sit next to my other friend who decided to play it smart and pick a table further from the mess."
Dropping his chopsticks into his meal, Shoto felt his heart kick to life in his chest. This wasn't the typical rush he felt dealing with her attitude. Normally she kept him on his feet, wary of her actions like he was prey. Now? It was soft, close, and warm. "We're friends?"
"I would assume at the very least!" Himiko laughed, always having a blast seeing what kinds of perspectives the quiet boy had on his surroundings. "I mean, I let you take me out on a proper date didn't I? We're past friends."
"...what's past friends?"
"Not too sure." Himiko admitted, looking off to the side as she jiggled her meal with her spoon a few times. "But, we can figure that out later. So, what's your recent take on the secrets hidden in plain sight?"
The boy double checked his surroundings, specifically Izuku to make sure he was completely occupied. Melissa was arguing she should get to sit next to him because this was her first day living in Japan and he was the best person she knew. That was plenty distracting for them.
"Well." Shoto leaned forward to whisper towards Himiko. "Do you know that there's a second omnitrix?"
Himiko kept her best poker face, holding back everything she might react with or accidentally reveal. "Go on."
"At the training camp, there was a kid there with another omnitrix. From what I understand, his birth father is out of the picture, and Izuku's birth father is absent too. I think, that in order for the government to make viable users for the omnitrix they need to artificially inseminate the women with various quirk modified sperm cells to make the offspring compatible with the omnitrix device."
Himiko, as cautiously as she could, shielded her face with a hand. It looked like she was contemplating the devastating revelation, but in truth she was doing her best not to crack out with howling laughter.
Tucked away out of notice, hidden under a home with the most advanced technology that Earth possessed, Providence was beginning to turn into a fully utilized facility with its influence reaching across the globe. From David Shield himself diverting assets shared with I-island, to All Might's increased influence over Japan as its Symbol of Peace.
Employees and agents were recruited from only the top branches from around the world, and after extensive background reviews they could be transferred over to their main facility which held their most closely guarded secrets. New training, new equipment, new uniforms, only the best for the best.
*Ding*
Arriving down the elevator right after school, Izuku was in awe of all of the empty space being filled and utilized by several technicians and intelligence operatives. It wasn't just a large open space anymore, he had to pay attention to where he was walking to swiftly move between the shuffling feet.
Though no one would dare accidentally bump into the wielder of the omnitrix, who has saved the planet, the universe, helped to create the very building and resources they used right now.
Izuku moved straight to the command deck area, where faces old and new were looking over their many tasks.
"We can easily make a few rapid response facilities around the globe." Nezu proposed to those around the holo-table, being All Might, David Shield, Naomasa, Present Mic, Midnight, Mrs. Waterhose, and-
"Stars and Stripes?" Izuku jolted when seeing the woman in person, his only real memories of her being from a time that had been undone. But, seeing her as the posters advertised her to be with a bright smile modeled after the number one hero's.
"Izuku Midoriya!" The woman greeted heartily as she came forward to shake his hand. "I've heard so much about you from All Might. Though I still don't know how much to actually believe. I look forward to testing your mettle first hand!"
"Another time perhaps." Naomasa cut the woman off, gearing them back to their topic at hand. "Right now we're figuring out how to expand Providence's operations."
"At the moment-" All Might continued, touching a few buttons to show the several potential branch locations. "-we're attempting where we can build smaller stations that are similar to this one that have all the resources and agents they would need to handle a wide variety of missions."
"There's also the option to convert existing facilities into Providence locations." David Shield mentioned, using I-island as an example. "They would only need slight modifications, but are otherwise already equipped."
"There are also lots of hero agencies we can enlist." Present Mic zoomed one of the maps into a single city, highlighting a small portion of the active heroes in the area.
"We'd be able to respond immediately." Mrs. Waterhose explained the reasoning while standing on her own legs without any support. She didn't want to part with her quirk, but she had to be temporarily spliced in order to actually recover from her injuries from long ago. "Just enough to get experienced eyes and ears on the situation, and resolving smaller issues that could be handled in a report."
"Luckily!" Midnight reached out to twirl one of Izuku's curls. "You don't have to bother with all the paperwork or the interview process. We appreciate your input but now that Providence is up on its feet we'll be calling you in for special missions or if you're in the area."
He would really appreciate that. Before, he was basically the only one aware of aliens who was also equipped to handle them. Now, there was a whole organization that could monitor the world and help solve the most foreign issues.
"Thank you." Izuku earnestly appreciated the time he would have to focus on something else other than field work.
"Oi! Hatsume!" Power Loader came stomping around the corner, chasing the girl who was rushing towards them with her alien cat. "Get back here immediately!"
"Izuku Izuku!" Mei rushed up, holding her lab assistant up to his face. "We found a way to upgrade the emergency teleport pods to beam us all across the galaxy! It involves making a lot more alien babies like Mecho here, enhancing every agent's badge alongside creating a receiving array the size of-"
"And I told you!" Hoisting the girl up from the back of her jumpsuit, Power Loader shook her around. "We're not building a skyscraper for something we don't need on a regular basis! We already have a couple of starships and Midoriya's assistance if it is an immediate emergency."
"We can just build it on the moon!" Mei argued. "It won't be in the way there right?"
"Mow." Her pet muttered as the two were taken back to the engineering bay.
As the scene moved away from the command area, Izuku straightened his jacket as he stood at attention. "So, what's the mission for today?"
Nezu closed all of the information crowding the boy's view, wanting to let the boy have no distractions over his responsibilities. "You will be providing foreign aid."
"Where too?" Izuku wondered aloud. Another country, another planet, another system? Well, likely he wouldn't be going far if they were aware of providence and requesting assistance.
"A more accurate question would be when."
The British time traveler, Professor Paradox, walked into the room out of a foreign realm. "Though I suppose to answer both, 'far' should suffice."
An eventful trip into another universe, and another, and another, through so many realities and picking up multiple allies for an event that had the multiverse at stake. A battle against Eon and VIlgax, and the threat of all timelines except for one being erased.
So how were they celebrating? Smoothies. Where at? Mr. Smoothy. Who with? Ben, Ben, Izuku, and Kota.
"Holy crap!" Ben, the same one wearing Azmuth's more refined Ultimatrix, wearing his classic green jacket with the ten on the front, and the one Izuku got his omnitrix from years ago. "I never thought VIlgax would ever go that far to wipe us out from every timeline."
"I know right?" Ben, the original one with the official omnitrix, wearing a black t-shirt with green lines along the trim and a fat ten on the center smiled to the other. "Talk about petty."
"I still don't know why we showed up." Kota took a sip from his own drink, not really caring either way but at least it was free. "I mean, we don't have a Ben so we would have been fine right?"
"You have my first omnitrix though." Ultimate Ben pointed towards Izuku's wrist. "So if I disappeared, then Izuku would never have gotten it. What would your world be like if he never got the omnitrix?"
They could only guess.
After sipping the rest of his drink down, Izuku hummed his thoughts aloud. "A Ben could have existed in our universe. I mean, we're a couple hundred years ahead of theirs. Seven hundred longer if we count the time I was Alien X."
"Seriously?!" Kota whined as he pushed his smoothy to the side. "You have an alien that's so powerful that you fixed the universe with? Does anyone actually believe you?"
"Dude!" Ben prime leaned forward, finding a fellow brother in arms. "You too? No one back home believed me I remade the whole universe! Ugh, the worst part about it is that I couldn't get Mr. Smoothy right, Especially the grape."
Taking a pause from his own smoothy, ultimate Ben spoke up. "Is that why you asked Paradox to let you spend some time here?"
"They get to!" Ben prime pointed towards Kota, who were sticking around as this universe's Azmuth compared the data from his original omnitrix and the outdated version Kota had. "So anyways, have you two also have some crazy love lives?"
"There were some moments that were testy." Ultimate Ben confessed, recalling a few of his own moments where being a hero put a strain on his relationship. "But other than that, Julie and I are still going strong."
"That's great!" Izuku applauded the teen as Kota just tried to ignore all the mushy stuff. "You two make a good couple and-Ben are you alright?"
Ben prime seemed a little more glum, but still kept up his conversation with them. "So when you had your identities exposed, you didn't have to deal with all of the other girls like Jennifer Notcurne or Emily?"
Izuku and ultimate Ben took another glance to one another, silently confirming their experiences.
"Your secret identity was exposed?" Ultimate Ben asked, getting Ben Prime to lower his head in defeat.
Seeking to cheer him up, Izuku decided to share some more personal details in his life. "Well, there have been some other girls that made their intentions known-"
"-Like and alien warlord princess?" Kota teased, hoping to get the other Bens to laugh at Izuku's expense but Ben prime seemed to only connect with the Japanese teen further.
"You too?!"
Finishing his drink, ultimate Ben was starting to really take another look about what his life would have been like if he didn't have the omnitrix taken from him. "Your life sounds way out of control."
"All of you are like that to me." The youngest of them spoke up. "How long have your guys' lives been so crazy?"
"Since ten years old." All three spoke at the same time, Kota gasping as he realized that's how old he was, and his life has been nothing but crazy since! Giving up on fighting the inevitable, Kota resigned himself to his fate.
"Don't worry." Izuku gave him a couple pats along his back. "You'll get the hang of it."
"Yeah." Ultimate Ben reassured from his own experiences. "It can be exciting and rewarding, but being a hero is all about doing the hard things."
"Totally." Ben prime savored the last of his smoothy, spreading it out amongst his taste buds to get the full impact of the flavor. "And we don't mean in the professional sense like what your world does, which I think is crazy-"
"-super crazy." Ultimate Ben agreed with a firm nod.
"-but my point is, real heroes are the ones who are willing to lend a hand when no one else will."
Izuku gathered their empty drinks, Kota's mind still stirring over what they had to say. He got that, he had first hand experience in dealing with all sorts of threats while trying to protect his family from getting hurt. There was always a risk, his father paid it, his mother nearly paid it, he almost paid it. But, someone had to take it so that people had families and friends to go back to.
"Just one thing." Ben prime warned as he wiped his hands with a napkin. "Make sure someone has your back."
Taking another look towards Izuku, the one that had been checking over his progress and was more than dependable when it came to things like Ghost Freak breaking out. "Yeah, ok."
"And always put your games on pause when answering the phone." Ben prime added on, a stern warning to anyone who wanted to keep their relationship.
Long distance relationships could put a strain between many couples. From a distance in life, to being unable to experience the same feelings as talking face to face, or even scheduling when they're in two different time zones. It can be even harder if they were at opposite parts of the Earth.
But, when one of them could teleport at will, they managed to make it work.
So, what did the two love birds do when they were together meeting in secret from those unaware of the non existent limits on transportation? To summarize, it involved being in the dark, under a blanket, squeezing together so close that their rushing hearts were beating into one another as they gasped in unison.
"GIGA SMASH!" The giant mechanized All Might on the television had their attention pulled solely to the screen, Izuku and Pony huddled together on the bean bag with a blanket wrapped around them with the empty bowl deprived of snacks resting out of the way.
The movie ended, both of them letting out a sigh of relief and emotions as they credits rolled.
"Man!" Pony wiped the tears out of the corners of her eyes. "I hate bittersweet endings so much. Why couldn't they have him come back to Earth and reunite with his girlfriend? This is just so sad!"
"It felt open ended in a way despite it clearly being the end of the story." Izuku got over his own feelings faster. "They're talking about a sequel, but honestly I hope it doesn't happen. I think some stories get stretched out too far and lose track of themselves before they're forced to end at a point they never intended to."
"Still-" Pony sniffled as she clung to Izuku to cheer herself up. "-I don't mind if it ends, I just want all of the characters I learned to love have the happy ending they deserve after going through so much."
"Yeah." Izuku pulled her in closer, pushing away the memories of living out the worst ending. "Endings, are hard. Even when they're happy you just don't want the good things to stop."
"Mmm." Captured in his warmth, Pony didn't bother turning off the tv as she just laid back against her boyfriend. "I hope we never end."
The ping in his heart clenched so tight he couldn't reply, so instead he let her fall completely into him and guided her head to rest under his chin. He gave a short peck against her horn, earning a pleased hum. After laying in silence, and content until time seemed to stop existing, they were interrupted by the title screen blaring the main theme from the movie they just watched.
"Should I put another one on?" Izuku glanced down through his tired gaze.
"Nah." Pony rubbed her face along his shirt. "Just, let me put my scent all over you to keep the other girls away."
Izuku wished it was that easy.
"Incoming Transmission." His omnitrix alerted Izuku, both teens groaning at the interruption.
Slipping his arm up and out of the blanket, Izuku answered the call to see if it was a matter of emergency or not.
"Hello?" He groaned out. "This is Izuku Midoriya."
"Izuku."
All of Izuku's relaxation was thrown out the window when Princess Provity's voice came through, with a suspicious tone behind it. "Princess, what are you calling for?"
"You obviously."
The flirt did not go unnoticed, Pony rolling over and gripping Izuku's omnitrix. "He's occupied!"
"Oh? Is she the one I have to take care of first?"
The tiny hint of a threat had Izuku snapping to sit upright, squeezing one arm under Pony to hold her tight on his lap. "Do NOT send the armada to Earth! Like I said before, I'm in a very happy, very committed relationship!"
"I-Izuku!" Pony whispered in a short panic to the boy she sat on. "Don't yell or you might wake up my Mom!"
"As much as I would love to meet with you again." The Princess ignored Pony's existence, continuing her chat with Izuku. "I am reaching out on behalf of a mutual acquaintance of ours. Itsuka Kendo."
Itsuka? Then how come she didn't reach out herself? "Why are you calling me?"
"Because I wanted to. Also, her recent project requires both mine and the Galactic Federation's supervision. We've had to reorganize a treaty for this entire endeavor. Though in order for it to be finished, your presence has been requested."
It sounded serious. Serious enough for both of them to realize that their date night had come to an end despite how good it had gotten. "Send me the coordinates-"
"Of course! We can arrive on my flagship-"
"-for Itsuka's project. I can get there myself."
"Fine. Whoever this woman of yours is, you are clearly loyal to her. I admire that."
Ending the long distance chat, Izuku was forced to set Pony off to the side in order to focus on his responsibilities. He hated to do so, especially when it kept them from seeing each other. "Sorry, I have to go."
Pony clung to his arm for support as Izuku stood up.
"I get it." Pony uttered out, not entirely satisfied with the time they had together but enjoyed it either way. "Ending our time tonight is hard, but it had to happen eventually."
"Yeah." Izuku hated to agree. "But, at least we're ending on a happy note."
Pony stood up on her one foot, giving him a short kiss before letting him go on to other work. "Love you."
"Love you too."
The device that demanded his attention let out a short beep, Izuku looking down to see that the coordinates had been sent to him. They were remarkably familiar, similar to-no. This couldn't be right. Double checking with the data in his omnitrix, with the interstellar map he received after helping one of the aliens before, it all kept coming back to the same location.
The Kraaho homeworld.
Fields of scorched Earth, magma seeping out from the top of the hills and rolling down the slopes of obsidian with clouds of sulfur pouring out from the vents scattered across the rocky fields. The sky was a sickly yellow, the angry red sun spilling its heat down from above.
It was really all there again.
Transformed into the native lifeform that once turned this planet into an empire, Izuku stood in his flexible Kraaho form to breathe in the air around himself. Wearing a simple dark jumpsuit with white fur around the collar and his pants tucked into boots, Izuku beheld the planet remade.
"Is it accurate?" Itsuka spoke up from behind, standing in her bright outfit that matched her Adronite form.
"It's amazing." Izuku's voice rumbled in a much deeper tone than his human one. "You, did all of this?"
"Who knows how many homes my father destroyed." Itsuka came up to his side, looking out across the bleeding horizon. "I'm going to put things back, try and fix everything he broke. Including the reputation for Adronites."
"I wish you the best of luck." Izuku uttered, reaching down to grab a handful of the dark gravel that rolled out from between his fingers.
"Will it work?" Itsuka wondered as she turned back to the only person who could make the next step happen. "I remember you mentioning before that the omnitrix could do something like that, but is it really possible?"
"I've never tried it." Izuku confessed as he let the rest of the pieces fall back down to join the rest of the world. "Omnitrix."
The dial on his chest blipped in response.
"Restore the Kraaho race."
"Parameters met, beginning restoration."
The omnitrix let out a high pitched whir of noise, the brilliant emerald energy capable of rewriting DNA in an instant reached out before the landscape and enveloped it in its energy. Tens, if not hundreds of figures were formed. All of them healthy, strong, and varied from one to another.
One thing they all had in common, was that they were of the same race, the Kraaho.
Basic knowledge was implanted into their adult minds, giving them the basic concepts and knowledge to speak and interact with one another. But, they were unaware of their lives, what they could do or what they should even accomplish.
"Everyone!" Izuku spoke out to the crowd, earning their attention. "This planet, this world is your home. You can do with it as you wish, and if anyone comes to invade I promise that I will not hesitate to defend you!"
Dozens of questions ran through their minds. They were just given life, and now they were expected to do something with it. The one that seemed to have the answers, who made this declaration, they had to ask.
"Who are you?" One girl, bearing remarkable resemblance to the first friend Izuku made from this world in a backwoods spring on Earth called out to him, looked up to him for further answers.
"Just, someone who wants to help."
Itsuka gave his shoulder a quick pat, giving a knowing smile towards his moistened eyes. "I can take over from here. I've got a couple of history archives of their world I borrowed from Galapagus."
"Thank you."
As Izuku began walking away from the people, he glanced back to seeing Itsuka use her control over the atoms to create a home overlooking the scenery. He made it right, if only Esta could see it.
Sitting along the cliffside near his home with the comforting green grass to sit upon, the boy kicked his legs over the dirt cliff, looking down below to see the leaves blown gently by the wind and the sharp rocks down below. All his friends were safe again after a full day of adventures, but at the end of it this is where he could escape with the purpose of being alone.
His family would come out to find him soon, there were so many people who cared about him now. He had fought for them, protected them, changed their lives in a positive way that no one could have imagined. After all, no one, not even his own mother, expected any of this to come of someone who's quirkless.
"How nostalgic." Paradox came up beside Izuku, taking in the same view of the setting sun over the ocean. "Finding a young boy contemplating life sitting on a cliffside."
"I should thank you." Izuku spoke up, not taking his eyes off the beautiful world he put so much effort into. "Without the omnitrix, I don't know how I could have done everything."
"You'd be surprised." The man hummed, clearly hinting towards his eternal knowledge. "But alas, I am here to thank you, for everything you've done for the many universes you've assisted."
Throwing his hand out to move the long coat he wore, Paradox took a moment to actually relax for once and enjoyed the company. "You once told me that if I gave you the most powerful device in the universe, you would become a hero that could save people and let them know everything is alright. Do you feel like you've accomplished that?"
If he were asked that half a year ago, he wouldn't have been sure he could answer that. Either in terms of still locked in an endless debate, or just after he was able to use his transformations on a regular basis in the field of heroics. But, thinking back to the people that were alive because he decided to help, Eijiro, Himiko, Eri, Kyoka, Reiko, Eraserhead, All Might, Pony…. So many faces came to mind, all of them able to smile now and know it was all ok.
"I think so." Izuku answered, finally happy with himself. "But wait, if you're here, then is there trouble again?"
"There will always be trouble." Paradox enjoyed his small break, getting back up and tapping his cane on the grass. "That's where we come in."
A swirling vortex opened up behind the man, Izuku getting up and lingering his sight back at his own house where people that loved him, that he loved, were waiting for his return.
"It's your choice." Paradox offered to Izuku as he stood in the pathway through space and time. "It's always been your choice."
"I hate to ask, but am I really needed this time?"
"Heroes are needed." Paradox then contemplated the odds on the other side. "Though, many are gathering. They're versions of you. One with an alien symbiote with a frightening appetite, another that's become a rather large robot, a rather intelligent one who created three little girls to save the day, A literal superman with questionable influence, and I can't forget the fellow time traveler The Stranger."
Taking one last parting view at his home, his family, and a planet that he had struggled in so many times, Izuku quickly found his answer. He had spent over five hundred years pushing through hardships, failing many times along the way, and any time he managed to succeed something would threaten the fragile balance. After doing all of that, finding out that it could be at risk again, he asked himself if the pains of life required a higher price.
Seeing it all, right now, in a moment of clarity he came to his answer. It was worth it.
"You'll bring me back right after?" Izuku took a step towards the conflict, all to protect those who needed it.
"Not a second later." The man promised, leading the way into an unknown future.
Straightening his jacket and stepping forward in his red shoes, Izuku held up his omnitrix where another superpowered alien awaited. As always, he would choose this moment, just like any other, to be a hero.
To summarize this, Izuku made his declaration for everyone to hear.
"It's hero time!"
THE END
You know, a lot has happened in my life as I've been writing this story. Several times when I look back on previous chapters I can't help but remember what big event I was going through, either good or bad, that happened while writing this.
This may not be my first fic, or even my favorite, but damn if it isn't easily my most popular. It started off as some throw away idea, like many of my others, but the moment that I published the first chapter I could only see the end goal for it. There were times I considered giving up on it, either from demands that I include transformations or people that refused to believe that Ben shouldn't have the omnitrix taken from him in the first place.
Still, so many readers, despite occasional confusion or misinterpretation, stuck with this story and made their love for it known. If it wasn't for the few who stood up on my behalf about my goal for this story as a whole then we would never have gotten to this point.
I normally like writing tragic but victorious happy endings, but for this one it didn't feel right. I know some of you have already been asking for omakes, sequels, or even spin offs, but I'm satisfied with where this has ended (Even if I sort of teased a multi cross over with all my other MHA fics, which I don't plan on writing).
I think that after half a million words, we can finally come to a point where this fic, this multiverse adventure, has built up to a final result that no matter what happened afterwards it wouldn't change.
I did my best to meet many requests, but only the ones that would work with the story and not overfill it with content that would have burned me out. So, I hope at the end, that even if we don't see what happened to the League of Villains (arrested) the MLA (Deika city was completely trashed by Nolan aka Itsuka's dad) or All for One (crying to himself day and night) you all can imagine what their lives are like now.
It's stories like this that make me wish I got paid to do this, because I can't imagine how many hours I have invested into this story.
BUT! If I were to make one request, it would be fan art. Something that I loved, and many people demanded more of, was the splicing. I can't tell you how much it would mean to me to see either Ghost Freak Reiko Yanagi, or Buzz Shock Denki Kaminari, and of course our first one red Diamondhead Eijiro. If you do decide to bless me with these, give me a private message over fanfic about it or reach out through my AO3 account where I have this story posted under the same name.
If you want to check out my other stories feel free! I plan on writing more for 'Soul Circuit' and a follow up/stand story from my first fic 'Sad Boy in a Tree-House' which will be a Doctor Who & Avatar Last Airbender adventure!
