Work Text:
A month has passed since the destruction of the virus. But not everything went so well. During this battle, the trains lost Duke. Due to the strong energy of the Alpha Train, he literally exploded. There is practically nothing left of him. Of course, Duke had to be restored, but it took a very long time. And now Selly sits in front of him and hopes that this time everything will work out.
— A whole month has passed, and you still haven't woken up... God, I hope that we will not lose you...
All this month, Selly has been trying to restore Duke. From lack of sleep she had bags under her eyes. Of course, she took breaks, but they were short. Her friends also helped her, but all hope remained with Selly and Duke's platform. Duke was already repaired, but unconscious.
— God, if it took a long time to fix him, how long will it take to restore he’s abilities? — Selly used to have a habit of talking to herself, but now it's has been elevated to the absolute, — but maybe not all of his abilities have disappeared? Maybe something is left?
Selly touched his engine. It was hot. There was a possibility that Duke would lie unconscious for another couple of weeks. Selly pushed her tools aside and stepped away from her friend's body.
— I think that's enough for today, — she turned towards Duke's platform, — please, if something happens here, let me know, okay?
— Whatever you say, Selly.
After that Selly went to her base.
Two weeks later, a message came in from Duke's base.
— Selly, come here. I feel a fairly strong flow of energy.
Selly's eyes shone with hope.
— It could mean that Duke will wake up. Okay, I'm on my way! — she instantly flew out of her base and headed towards Duke.
As soon as she arrived, she transformed into a robot and ran up to Duke.
— What exactly happened to him?
— I noticed a flow of energy inside Duke. So far, there has been nothing.
— Okay... then I'll wait.
It had to wait a long time, so Selly was in the clouds.
— I wonder... what if Duke will lose his memory, like Kay? Hope this...
— Selly?
She jumped instantly. She glanced at the black train. He was conscious. He was conscious!
— Oh my God, Duke! — Selly ran up to him and hugged him as best she could, — you finally woke up! A whole month has passed, and maybe more! We were so worried about you!
— Um... Selly... what happened?
Selly drew back from him.
— What? Just don't say that you don't remember anything..
— I remember everything. But I don't remember what happened near the Alpha Train.
— You exploded, — Selly decided to answer honestly and directly. Duke dropped his eyes.
— You said that a month has passed... you have been recovering me for a whole month?
— Well, yeah... is something wrong?
— You saved my life again.
— What do you mean?
— It was you who saved me from the virus.
Selly was embarrassed.
— Well, this is thanks to Kay, Alf, Duck and Victor. I just followed the process.
— Exactly. And after all, if not you, then Kay and others would not have expected what awaited them.
— Well, okay, it doesn't matter. The important thing is that you are with us again!
— Did others come?
— Of course! They helped me, but I did all the main work. The rest had only to wait. And Kay kept asking about you. Everybody worries about you.
— How cute... - Duke frowned.
— Oh, I almost forgot, — Selly hit herself on the forehead, — I will have to tell everyone.
— Did you have a rest? You don't look good.
— What?
— You have bags under your eyes.
— Oh... of course I was resting...
— Let's let them know later. You need to rest, and...
— Well, no, Duke, I'll do it my way, — only Selly was about to leave, when she suddenly remembered something.
— By the way, do you remember about your abilities? Delta Board, for example.
— Delta... Delta Board?..
Selly's gaze dimmed.
— I see... well, some of your abilities need to restore too.
It was a beautiful sunny day at Fountain Plaza. Life on it was seething. After Duke awakened, everyone was delighted with his recovery, especially Kay. Unfortunately, he also lost some of his abilities, including controlling the Delta Board. Right now he was trying to "ride" it.
Selly stood and talked to Emma. Just casual conversation and nothing more.
— By the way, have you seen Victor? — Asked Selly, — it's just that he hasn't been seen for a long time.
— Most likely he works in his Area, — said Emma, — you know him, he’s-
— Selly, Emma, watch out!!
Selly turned her head to the side and saw that something was flying towards them. Selly, pushing Emma, jumped with her to the side. Fortunately, they weren't hurt.
— God, girls, are you okay?
— It seems yes... but what was that? — Emma asked. Selly, in turn, looked around. Everyone had a frightened face, even Duke, who covered his mouth with his hands. "I wonder what could have scared him so?" She turned in the direction where the strange object was supposed to fly. Delta Board.
— God, girls... - Kay ran up to them, — excuse him please. Duke couldn’t resist on Delta Board and therefore...
— Okay, Kay, we get it, — Selly interrupted him, — but it’s not going to work that way. He can't train in such crowded places. He needs a special place where he will not harm anyone.
Selly thought for a moment.
— Idea! — she exclaimed, — we can use the place for special training! There Duke will be able to train virtually and will not harm anyone! I even had a special trick for this case, — the pink train winked.
— Great idea, Selly! — Kay praised her, — can I join then? I will help Duke too.
— Okay, I don't mind. What do you say, Duke? — She turned to the aforementioned train. He still stood in silence.
— Duke? What's wrong?
— I... this is...
He paused, fingering hands and somehow hunched over. Duke began to approach her uncertainly.
— Selly... and Emma... I... forgive me, please. I didn't want it to be this way...
Selly stared at him for a while. Then she smiled as best she could.
— It's okay, Duke! After all, we are fine.
— Yeah, — Emma joined in, — but next time it’s better to train in a less crowded place, like Selly said.
— Okay... I understood.
— Okay, enough chatter, — Selly clapped her hands, — it's time to start training.
— And where is your new trick that you wanted to show? — Kay asked. He and Duke were already at the training ground.
— Now, wait. Just something to connect... and...
Suddenly, a figure began to appear in front of the two trains. Kay took a fighting stance.
— What is it? Already started your workout?
— Wait, Kay, it's me! — Selly's mechanical voice exclaimed. The figure began to clear up and Selly herself appeared.
— Wow... Selly. But how are you-
— I had to work on some programs.
— So... in fact, you are with us?
- Almost. I am just a hologram, you cannot touch me. But I can provide you with additional materials. For example, like this, — she snapped her fingers and a shield formed around the boys.
— Wow, Selly, this is so cool!! — Kay exclaimed. Duke just grunted.
— It will also be easier for me to monitor your condition from here. Well, are you ready for your workout?
— Ready as never before!
Duke has already... tried again and again to control his Delta Board. Here he again couldn’t resist and Delta Board flew towards Kay, but Selly blocked him with a shield.
— Hm... — Selly scratched her head, — if we continue this way, nothing will come of it.
There was silence between the three trains. Duke tried to look somewhere to the side, but not at his friends. Selly thought, he was ashamed that he wasn't able to cope with his details. Suddenly Kay jumped.
— Selly! Do you remember that Jeffrey said that he has all the training records in the archive?
— Well, yes, I remember. And what?
— Maybe there is something related to the Delta Board? We could borrow this and give it to Duke. Then he will learn it faster.
— Hm... good idea, Kay. I think we need to find files about other abilities to restore Duke for sure.
— Sure thing! What do you say, Duke?
Together they turned towards the black train. He looked first at Kay, then at Selly. Finally, he sighed.
— Fine. I don't think I have a choice anyway.
— Okay! Then let's go to Jeffrey!
