Movie Nights and Cider

Summary:

Butterflies swarmed in your stomach as you flushed and chuckled weakly. “Hehe, thanks.”
“no problem,” he replied, squeezing your shoulders gently. “ya still up fer watchin’ some ‘scary’ movies tonight?”
“You mean watching Beetlejuice and Hocus Pocus?” you asked as you tilted your head back to watch him, a smile on your face. “‘Cause I am so up for it. Who’s in charge of snacks?”

Work Text:

It was a Friday night and you had just finished two, grueling homework projects for your college course. It was like a weight off your shoulders and that alone was cause enough for celebration. You leaned back with a soft groan before your shoulders— or was it your spine?— popped in a nice way.

“‘ey, rice crispy, what’s poppin’?” Castor, one of your six gentle giants, questioned as he rubbed at your shoulders gently.

You melted beneath his hands and sighed softly. “Mm, just finished my homework. I’m absolutely free for the weekend now.”

“that so?” He paused and leaned down to press a kiss to your crown, then straightened back up into his comfortable slouch. “good job, honey. ‘m proud of ya.”

“that’s gonna be bowie’s job, sugar’s gonna be in charge of gettin’ drinks. sorta.”

“Lemme guess, he’s leaving you dorks to get your condiments drinks, huh?” you checked with an arched brow.

Castor chuckled and nodded, raising a hand to rub at his neck nervously. “yeah, he gave his bro a look of disgust ‘fore he informed us he’s leavin’ us t’our own devices.”

“Pfft!” That… that sounded like him. It didn’t help that almost all of your datemates, save for Jack and Sugar himself, had a condiment obsession… if you counted Pollux and his salsa an obsession. That skeleton had a spicy taste for the spiciest of salsas and drank them like they were his teas— far too easily for your own taste. “That… that sounds like him. Was Pollux included in the drink abandonment or just you three dorks?”

“nah, just us three. i think sugar’s been makin’ his cider again?”

“Oooh, tonight’s gonna be a good night!” Well, an even better night. What could you say? You were weak for your tall, cane wielding mate’s honeycrisp apple cider. “Explains the aroma in the air, too.” And that was true, the house smelled like the spirit of autumn came rushing through and filled each room with the sweet scent of cinnamon and apples.

“mhm, an’ i’mma leave ya be fer now,” Castor said with a gentle squeeze of your shoulders and another kiss to your crown. “don’t forget t’turn yer homework in, sweetheart.”

You could taste the static charge in the air that followed his shortcut and cursed under your breath as you quickly turned in your homework. You almost forgot that factor in lieu of your taller mate’s presence.

---

Evening couldn’t have come fast enough for you, but by the time 8 o’clock hit, you were snugged between Grey and Bowie with one of Grey’s many, many star-covered blankets thrown over your laps and one of the bowls of popcorn on your lap. You smiled softly as you took in the sight of your other mates taking their own seats; Jack took to his plush, red armchair while Pollux plopped down on the loveseat with Castor at his feet. Sugar, on the other hand, was delivering mugs of cider to all but Grey, Bowie, and Castor just like he (Castor) had told you earlier he’d do.

“And For You, My Star,” Sugar announced as he held out a spider-themed mug with a little spider figurine sitting on the handle. You took it with a soft smile and cradled it close to your face, then took a small sip of the warm beverage.

“Thank you, Sugar. It’s absolutely perfect,” you complimented.

“I’m Glad To Hear You Enjoy It.” The tall Monster’s skull flushed with burnt orange magic before he carefully carried his own mug over to his empty chair. He sank into the plush chair with a soft groan and smiled softly. “So, What Movie Are We Seeing First?”

“I Believe Our Dearest Has Already Chosen The Movie,” Jack said before taking a long sip of his cider. “What Is It You Have Chosen?”

You grinned at Sugar, then at Jack. “I figured we’d watch some Beetlejuice! It’s a real classic and it’s got one of my favorite scenes in it!”

“isn’t that the one with all dem ‘ghosts’?” Bowie questioned, moving two of his distals in quotation marks at the mention of ghosts.

“Yup! It’s a good movie, promise,” you assured with a grin. “Who’s on remote?”

Pollux raised his hand with the remote in hand as Castor spoke for him, “bro’s got it!” And that’s all what was said before Pollux pressed play on the TV and set the movie to playing. Maybe you should have mentioned that one of the characters was a super creeper, but you could deal with that when it came up. Maybe.
