A few days later, the farmer came to visit Emily. She had posted on the town board asking for crystals for a class she wanted to hold, so they went looking for her. No one was in the living room or kitchen, so they went right to her bedroom. The door was unlocked so they walked right in, only to find the room empty.
Except for her parrot.
They smile, stepping into her room and going to stroke the parrot's feathers. "Hey, bud. Any idea where Emily is?"
The parrot bobbed, but the farmer didn't think anything of it. They were around to turn to leave when the parrot squawks, "Stars!"
They blink, "You can talk?"
The parrot squawks again, "Yes. Emily likes stars."
"Yes, she does. And crystals, and very smart parrots."
"Emily likes farmer."
The farmer blinks, "Emily... what?"
"Emily likes farmer!"
"Emily likes me, huh?"
The parrot bobs its head again.
The farmer smiles, giving the parrot one last pat before walking off. They'll go look for Emily at the saloon, but before going there they have a bouquet they need to buy from Pierre.
